To make things simpler I have decided to start the game fresh as a Homebrew. Characters will be made using the 10,10,12,13,14,15 array and use the alpha rules. Max Gold and Max HP+Racial mod in the alpha rules. Everyone can pick one bonus "backstory" feat. It can be a savage tide feat, golarion feat, or any feat that can by justified by the character history. I get final approval, these should be story orriented, not a dig for more combat feats. I'm open to alternate races so just ask. I'd like to stay to core classes but if you want a bard, monk, or ranger use the 3.5 rules until the updates hit. Will just figure out some way to adjust the skills. The game will start in the major port city of Altus. Feel free to be creative on backstorys because Altus is the center of trade of a very large fantasy world. I love to grab hooks from character historys for later adventure hooks. Characters can be locals or just off the ship starting a new life, maybe even on some personal mission. Ask any questions that you need to and we'll start as soon as all the characters are done.

Plans thus far (just to keep people updated) - I'm thinking either fighter or barbarian as I've never played either, closest I've gotten is a battledancer.
Still yet to pick between elf, halfelf & human. Possibly something elven and finesse-based if I go with fighter and if I go barbarian something humanish.. :)

Okay, I'm thinking of playing Gerr Herricksen, Paladin. Instead of the stalwart defender of evil in shiny armor, he's more of a dirty boots, dusty soul sort of paladin. Think closer to a detective in a pulp novel. The quiet type who's always sticking his nose where it doesn't belong. His god would be a god of justice for the common man. "The law covers everyone Eddie, even those who think it don't, see?"
(I'll try to avoid the pompous jerk stereotype as much as I can, I swear!)
Me think me alpha conversion ready. Me took Lone Wolf as bonus feat from ROTRL Player's Guide. Me grew up in forests after me was thrown out of house.
I'm thinking Human or Half-Orc Druid, or Cleric (Gozreh or Pharasma). let me know which works best. If we need Melee help probably 1/2 Orc, if a standard Cleric probably Human.

Day after day the guard would deal with everyone he met with fairness and mercy. He was a shining rock in a land of corruption. Then one day, the guard was murdered. Gerr went to the temple where his body was laid out, to join the other admirers in paying their respect. There was no one else there, just a cold corpse in a cold temple. Gerr realized at that point that being just for justice's sake was the only reward the guard ever needed, and vowed that day to take up the mantle of the people's protector. Ever since then he's heeded the call of the paladin on the streets of Altus.

We are using the Alpha rules, but it is a homebrew setting. Characters can pray to whatever gods they deem worthy, the world is vast and many different cultures have many different dietys.

Getting a student get a good report yesterday was smashing but it means I now have to to work that bit harder to keep her progressing.
