They're depressing. There's already enough negativity in the world, and I like my adventurers to be heroes rather than villains.

That and people's ideas of evil PCs always turn out to be backstabbing, foul-mouthed sadists. Yawn.

I tried an evil game once... we ran "Demonblade" from Dungeon #197. We got to the first encounter and then the party self-slaughtered. I'm not kidding, it was ridiculously stupid and pee'd everyone off to a massive degree.

Maybe a PbP game could work... it would be difficult. But heck, give it a try. It might work.

I've run two "evil" PbPs on a seperate site. It works, but really only if you have players who want it to work. Also, letting the PC's split up and pursue their own evil agenda is often a good preventer of self-slaughter.

evil takes many shapes and forms and the typical evil portrayed in rpgs is psychotic evil. how about scheming evil? or tyrannical evil? or petty evil?
