here I will post the details for starters
now back to the game.
all rolls use Invisable castle

*stats 4d6 arrange to taste . any race any class,would like to see pathfinder ones however but not holding back any thing.
*you may reroll any stats under 10 up to 3 times
*you may use the alise here or use the sheets here
*books allowed core,pathfinder, all completes. any thing else ask.
*races allowed any
*level 1d6
*free man equipment by level.
1 max
2 900
3 1500
4 2200
5 3000
6 4500

no magic without approve. slaves have equipment assigned or chosen from a small list.

*HP using Racial from p.11

pc limits per stable for now are 2 slave 1 freeman and 1 non gladiator per player.so up to 4 pc's 3 being gladiators . this is the limit you may have just one if you wish but no more then 4 active.

with enuff player some one my chose to make a non gladiator stable owner if they wish.

looking for at lest 4 players

*note there is no resurrection on this world . so gladiators may ask for quarter .however doing so with more then 10 hp and they take a fame hit.

the higher the fame the more you make per fight,and better you live for slaves.also for slaves high fame can earn you a chance at freedom.

The stables
Each stable is owned my a single noble or merchant house.By law and decree a stables gladiators limit is as fallows
*No more then 10 slaves can be trained as gladiators per stable
*No more then 10 freemen can be sponsored by the stable
*A stable may have up to 3 champions who are outside the limit, they may be freemen or slaves

*criminals my be bought by a stable and used for a length of time determined by there crime.
*theft 5 showings
*assault/rape 10 showings
*murder 2-5 yrs
*treason untill death

Each stable has it's own fame rating [will post later]

Plays may also run there own stables if they like.
the above is max size but much smaller is allowed.

Mage duals and the arenas….
All arena are dedicated to Velshla ;goddess of duels ,honor ,glory and pardon of gladiators and gladiatorial combat.

Velshla’s blessings effect all arena dedicated to her.
*spell affects never cross the arena wall always staying in the arena also spells may not cross from outside to inside .
*by speaking the phase”veshla’s protection” and the opponent speaking “velshla’s embrace” all spells do subdue damage.[this is the normal way it is done]
* while under velshla’s embrace any ability that drops to 0 due to drain knocks out and doesn’t kill an opponent .
*spell that auto kill knocks out the opponent instead

*all victories in any fight gain the victor fast healing 2 for 1 hour after as her boon .

Paladins the arena and the order of baslis

The order of baslis is a paladin order of the god hynderian the god of law and justice.
Some times the laws of man and the will of the gods do not meet.
In the lands of Ros'hem. men are sent to the arenas for there crimes skilled lawbreaker sometimes come out of them even the ones who committed the worse crimes.
The order of Baslis are tools for the god of justice. By working with in the laws of man they fallow there gods wish and execute those the gods have found to be unrepentant and to skilled for the arenas to kill.When such a criminal is close to escaping his punishment the gods send a sign to the order . soon after a knight of baslis is sent to pass sentence in the arena. As a side note knights of baslis are allowed to finish an opponent even if he has given quarter they are not punished for doing so by the arenas or hynderian for that is there reason for being sent. Knights of baslis only fight there target none other.

Gaining Fame points.

*winning a match
*winning a grudge match
*winning a match in 2 rounds or less
*winning a match without taking damage
*appearing in a match with spice[more on that later]
*entering the arena dramatically [intimate ,deception or diplomacy check [15+fame score]
*using a catchphase in any combination of three successful grudge building attempts.
*doing mass amount of damage [30+ on a crit]
*killing knocking out or incapacitating 2 or more uninjured opponents in a single round.
*any action that makes crowd cheer ,boor or throw things at you.

Max you can gain in one match is 4

Losing fame

*missing a match 1d4 points
*missing a grudge match 2d4 points
*missing a match with spice 2 extra on top of what you loss for missing a match
*losing in 2 rounds or less 1d3 points
*losing without harming your opponent 1d2 points
*asking for quarter with more then 10 hp’s left 1d3 points
*any delaying trick 1d3 points
*time off 1 point per week

No max to how may you can loss at once.
Any one with fame of -10 or lower is normally let go from the stable

Fame feats

Crowd favorite
when ever you get into a match with a hated opponent the crowd back you.
Benefit
In a grudge match you gain a +1 moral bonus to attack and damage rolls.
prerequisite
Fame 15+,have one at lest one grudge match.

Signature move

You have devolved a move that has become famous in the arena
benefit
Once per day while fighting in the arena ,you can perform your move as a move action and gain half your fame score to damage.
special
Each time you take this feat you gain one more daily use of your move.
prerequisite
BAB+3 ,must have won at lest 2 matches and have named your move.

Grudges
Grudges are good for an arena they bring in bigger crowds and make people take notice of the gladiator more.
To build one make a grudge building check using deception ,perform[drama],intimate or diplomacy. if the subject of the grudge is present its an opposed check. If opponent is not present the DC is 15 + opponents level + 1 per 5 fame points they have.

yes there close enuff in level the types of fights will very but single and group fights will both be part of the games as well as pc vs beast fights and event fights.

have updated first post with the rerolling info and pc limit per player is 4 for now up to 2 slaves ,1 freeman and 1 non gladiator but you may have just 1 pc if you like.

Looks good stat em up and post a link.nice mix of levels monk make for a nice unarmed match.


as a quick point of interest: the current online charsheets do not support Pathfinder Skills format. not that it matters much on combat, but just sayin. also, whats is the use of a non-gladiator? I set mine to cleric for fixin up the crew when they get beat up but thats only cause i couldnt think of anything else to do with him.

also also, what are we doin for hp beyond 1st level? 1/2+1+Con? roll+con+partial racial mod?

last also, may i use some of the monk feats outa phb2? to be precise: Versatile Unarmed Strike, Fiery Fist and Ki Blast (aka Hadoken)?

well the one in the link you can edit the skills. i erased em all and wrote in the pathfinder ones very easy. as for cmb put it where grapple is or down in notes.for hp's after 1st ya can take 3/4 round down per level + mod .should make for fights that last a little longer. the none gladiator ones are for role players mostly. may get them involved in other stuff all in what the players want.

well the last two are out of reach for you your BAB is not +8 but the first one is fine.

What are the limits on gear for a slave? I have a character that I want to run, but I don't know if it will qualify as a slave.

The guy I had mind was a scythe wielding fighter, but if I gear him up the way I want, he is going to have more gear than I think a slave would have.(No magic Items)

I would make him a freeman, but I already have one.

Any thoughts?


as per the 2nd two feats descriptions, you may take them as your monk bonus feats at 2nd and 6th level respectivly. So monks feats would look like:
1st lvl: Improved Unarmed Strike, Stunning Fist
2nd lvl: Flaming Fist
6th lvl: Ki Blast

still your call though on availability.

Correction to that statement: the PHB2 says a monk may take Ki Blast as its "8th level bonus feat if they have the Fiery Fist feat and a BAB of +6 and ignore the other requirements."

Since monks do not get a bonus feat at 8th, it would make sense that the intent was to make it available at 6th.

The only issue with the blast is he is a slave.not sure how they would keep in as one with him able to blast folks.whats is is AL? that may help me fig it out. If he is good LG then killing others if he escapes would be a easy fix really.I am willing to work with ya on it.

BM slaves normally do not have much gear. however they may be trained in a certain style ,2 sword,net and shield. that kind of thing so let me know what ya have in mind and i'll work with ya on it.

Ok guys let me change the pc set up. you can all have 4 pc's total
2 slaves and 2 freemen . they can all be gladiators or just some of them.
I want to leave room for folks that may want to have a trainer or a healer but if yall want to run all gladiators so be it.

Hes LN, being a slave kinda beat the good outa him. i dont know why id be more frowned apon that a wizard slinging fireballs, hed just follow the same oath at the start of the match to make it non-lethal. also it takes 2 of his stuning attempts to use so its not like he'll be flinging them often.

the sheet isn't public man. you need to make it public .as for wizards I would guess they are really slaves .but you got me thinking wizards could be anti-magic collared as for you humm not sure I dont want to tell ya no so let me look it over and find a way of keeping him in chains.I'll get back to ya on it though. and you can change that cleric to a gladiator if you like I posted a rules change in the post above.

Ok Bailey, this will fix your issue.He just has one on that keeps him from using is ki powers outside the arena floor easy fix really. make him how ya want crowds gonna love the firehands and blasting.

Gladiator collier

This collier of black metal forces the wear to fallow a set of instructions that were spoken upon its creation.Most mystic or arcane gladiator collier disallow use of powers or ability's outside the arena floor.

arena ,stables and the city

The city of Kantos lies on the southern peninsula of the west coast of the Ros'hem empire.Kantos is a port city bustling with cargo and peoples from all over the Ros'hem empire and beyond.It is ruled by a lord mayor and a counsel of the 14 noble family's .Merchant guilds are also a power with in the city and all but run several key parts of the city.

There are four arena's in Kantos .The grand Colosseum ,The northern amphitheater ,The west gate arena ,An the southern arena.We will focus on the southern arena .This will be the starting point for the game.

The southern arena was built 180 years ago by the noble family Griharn.
At the time it was built outside the port district of the city's ,but over the years the port district has swallowed it up .Now it lays within the port district ,5 blocks from the Griharn estate.The arena itself is rather large being able to seat most of 2 districts worth of people.It is decorated in the common style with shrines and statues to Valasha and Gorum both inside and out.The arena floor measures some fifty feet wide and ninety feet long.Two levels lay below the arena floor that contain among other things,shrines to the gods,the armory ,cages for beasts, slave pens,training rooms,treatment rooms, and places to store the dead.There is also a legion of pulleys and gears to bring beasts to the floor as some for well as rearrange the arena floor.

In the area around the arena there are a market ,public part and all three stables that call the arena home .

The stables are really estates that include,training ground ,healing halls and housing for slaves and freemen.

The Black Roc stables
The black roc stables are owned by the Griharn family and sees the arena as very much theres.As the oldest stable in the arena they have a very superior mindset and see the newer stables as mer upstarts.
They specialize in bladed and unarmed combat.

The Blue Stag stables
The blue stage stable was formed 140 years ago by the Hemlin family .Most with in the stable see them selves as supreme hunters and the true lords of the arena.
The specialize in mounted combat, archery and beast fighting.

The Red shield stable
the red shields are only 20 years old. Seen by the other stables as upstarts the red shields non the less have become real contenders in the arena.
They specialize in team events and exotic fights and fighting styles.

I know magic items need approval so are these alright?(I couldn't think of 4500gp of non-magical items.)

sorry for the delay, im fleshing out my 2nd char, Hex4 and need to go over the rogue talents for #3.

for the Hexblade, may I take the dark companion alt feature from PHB2? a regualr familier would be rather useless in an arena I think, and He wouldnt gain access to any of the Improved familiers till much higher levels.

Its a two handed exotic weapon(Used the human weapon proficiency on it.) has reach of 10ft, can be used against adjunct enemies, does 1d6+1.5str and has 19-20 2x crit.

planning has started now would like more people but i'll run it for what I have now. I have 3 complete sheets right now . 2 of which are BM's so I hate to time crunch guys but please post any pc's you would like to use by Thursday. So far we have

Seth 6th Level human fighter of the Red Shields
Gell 1st level half orc Cleric of the Blue stag
Istan 6th level half orc monk unknown stable

SO far I have 6 events planned the ECL will depend on the level of the pc or team of pc takeing it on.

we will be skipping events no one is apart of . Glancing over them

Event will be assigned based on level.

I will have the base info of my events up by tommow .oh and gladiators from different stables can not team up unless its a event with spice.

If we need more people, how about inviting the rest of the maptools group? I don't know if any of them have the time or want to join, but it would be a good place to look for more people. Takisi was suggesting Hammith do one but I don't know if he is or not. It would be worth a shot to have a post on the other boards to see if they want to.

Oh and I have such bad things planned for seth him being showy and all...YA know a wasp encounter might be crowd pleasing don't ya think.

Its cool, I never done PBP either so we're both newbies. As long as we try and manage to have fun with it. We all got to start somewhere.

OHH god no.... Not again. I think every person that day learned the true horror of D&D was not a dragon, but a swarm of wasps. Oh the horror, the horror.....

You know... you made me think about the little chat before the server disconnected, and I realized something.

If you don't mind me tossing out an idea, and taking a page or chapter from Battletech, I realized that a modified version of the Clan trial system would work wonders with the stables. Would be a wonderful mixture of fluff and mechanics. Something like this:

Trial of Annihilation: A fight to the death between two gladiators or two groups of gladiators. Must be called by individual gladiators or a group of gladiators toward another individual or group. Must be approved by a committee/review board(I guessing there is a "non-bias" group running the arena). The challenge can be refused, but at the lost of fame.

Trial of Grievance: A grudge fight between two gladiators or groups of gladiators. Must be done to a opponent that you have lost to recently to, or a long standing rival. Cannot be refused, and the fame rewards/penalties are doubled.

Trial of Possession: A fight over a prize(Items or slaves) or trophy owned by another stable. Cannot be refused, however, the defender has an advantage equal to the value of prize in question. Whoever wins gets the prize, and if the one declared the trial loses, he, or his party loses one item of the defender's choosing.

Trial of Refusal: A team can challenge a call made in a fight. If they win the call is overturned, and a re-match is scheduled if the call was game determining. The challenging party faces a challenge based on the popularity of the call.

I don't know what you have in mind but I thought I would toss some ideas out there.

HUMMM I do love the clans I think some of that can be worked into the arena bylaws. I was just starting to work on arena rules have some but not all of em. I also need to introduce some NPC's that yall will have contact with.The trail of Annihilation works well with the order of baslis they always work under it.As well as a few criminals they state has senticed to death. works well . I'll put some thought into it and bring them into the games.

good ideals there all.

I love the clans myself (Crusader Wolf) and their unique nature, and they work as a great reference for this.. Solaris 7 would be another. I just wished the clans would get more GOOD screen time... and not the punching bag they tend to be.

If you need any help on this, just drop me a note and I will try to help to best of my ability. I spent way too much time as a DM without ever playing the game as a player, and have the image of how much work a GM can do the make the game work burnt into my head, so I am always willing to help a DM. The Seven Challenges of The Arena

Challenge of freedom This is the right of a slave within the arena .this challenge may only be made 1 time per year by a slave. Winning this challenge means freedom for the slave.The stable that owns the slaves chooses the opponent and type of event. This challenge can only be made by a slave with 5 or more victories in the arena.

Challenge of Grievance A grudge fight between two gladiators or groups of gladiators. Must be done to a opponent that you have lost to recently to, or a long standing rival. Cannot be refused, and the fame rewards/penalties are doubled. [you must have a grudge with the target of the challenge.]

Challenge of Possession A fight over a prize(Items or slaves) or trophy owned by another stable or gladiator. Cannot be refused, however, the defender has an advantage of choice of challenge type and defenders. Whoever wins gets the prize, and if the one declared the trial loses, he, or his party loses one item of the defender's choosing of similar value.

Challenge of Spells A gladiator who makes this challenge will use or face magic that has not been blunted by valasha’s blessing. This may be refused but doing so doubles fame loss Fame for such contests are also doubled.

Challenge of RetirementOnly one side of such a challenge can compete in the arena again for a length of 1 year .Such events are normally exotic and spectacular. Refusing this challenge carries double fame penalties.

Challenge of Absorption This is a rare challenge leveled from one stable to another. The prize for this challenge is the adsorption of a rival stable. This challenge can not be refused and is normally a multiple day event as each stable uses everything they have to conquer the other. The wining stable is the one with the most wins at the end of the challenge.

Challenge of Annihilation A fight to the death between two gladiators or two groups of gladiators. Must be called by individual gladiators or a group of gladiators toward another individual or group. Must be approved by a Arena council The challenge can be refused, but at the loss of triple fame.

Hell's Horses are cool and I like their mix vechicals, BA, Protos and Mechs. Even through I should hate them eating the rear of the Wolf OZ. They are one of the few clans with a good feel, I can but help like them, factional bias aside. Now if you were a Jade Turkey... :)

Maybe we should have a game via megamek sometime?

Oh.. I may have a idea for a slave. My brain is trying to figure out if I should mix my two hobbies together. A barbarian loosely based of the clans?

A barbarian half-orc from a 'clan' who works under another gladiator(Seth?) because he lost a fight to him and is honor bound to fight for him until he defeats him in honorable combat...

I debating in my head as is this a good thing or a bad thing...

Oh that is great I used totem based clans in a game before .the bondsmen thing works well. I'll try and have the basics of the fights up by tommow I have the basics of what i want planned out just wanna make sure the ecl's are right.

Oh and mega mek be fun i'm rusty as hell lol been months. I was a wolf in the early days of the clans .when there was just 4.Kinda got took bondsmen by the horse a long time ago. and vlads wolves rock and the kell welp should have died in 49.

Got an ideal let them both be 6th level fight as a pair. like the romes used to do a net and spear pair.Why not have him complement seth somehow.Archer,sheildmen,....ah even better spiked chain junky lol oh gods that be good . one with a scythe and one with a spiked chain.

A wolf due to the Clan wolf being the first exposure to Battletech when I played Mechwarrior 2. I was young(5-6) at the time and STILL remember the logic I applied back then. Summarized, It came down to in my young mind to green bird thingy and red dog thingy. I though for a moment about green bird thingy for a second, on the basis that green was a kick ass color. But birds sucked and dogs were much cooler. I went with the "dog" and never looked back since.

I picked right. :)

On my barbarian, I would go level 4-5(why Seth beat him). Fighting style, I really don't know. I would prefer it to mimic how real wolfs fight based on out-lasting your opponent(in which case he would be a mixed barbarian/fighter) or a clan wolf from BT which based on mobility and range.

Either way, I will probably wait until alpha 2 comes out to work on him.. My gut feeling is that it will be out Thursday.

And is it me, or no one posting? The board seems slow even for a monday night.

lol me and you are the only one that has posted in this thread in a while . but yeah there slow tonight. you could make him a shifter or go claw brazers. fast movement sounds good and yeah its fine to wait really hoping it gets out by Thursday cant wait to see what they did with the classes and the skills.Alpha 1 and 1.1 rocked hard IMHO.

Not just this thread the the Pathfinder boards in general. No-one is posting.

My theory? Most people are waiting for Alpha 2 and do not want to post until they release. Or the have better things to do.

Me and you are just having a discussion, tossing ideas and talking about one of the best games of all time. Nothing wrong here.

good with me erik just posted a few things about whats in alpha 2 which affects this.Pathfinder as a whole seems like gold to me anyhow.

I'm gonna try to get this game underway by next weekends that give us time to digest the alpha 2 rules. and rework skills lol.
