So, no one has done ANYTHING with the last 3 instalments of this AP? Really? Especially with all the battlemaps waiting in Sins of the Saviours and the HUGE room for expansion in Spires of Xin Shalast? it's great to see so much fan-created content for the first 2-3 instalments, but did it just die off after Hook Mountain?

Hey man, we'll get there!

Give us some time!

No really, I think there is a logical negative correlation between people who painstakingly map every encounter and people who finish campaigns. Chew on that for a while.

I'm not giving up, though, and I *will* be mapping Runeforge. Sometime in ... 2011 it looks like.

2011 eh? Well you will STILL beat my group, since we haven't started yet! Since this is my first dedicated AP, I was hoping to take the time I saved not making the adventure/statting up monsters/drawing maps etc and use it to make a more visually exciting experience with more painted minis (and the right ones, no proxies!), player handouts, and terrain. What I've found here will go a loooong way towards that goal (if I can ever find an affordable way to print the maps!), but I was starting to get worried at the lack of goodies out there for HMM and up. Seems like the Graul Homestead would be an obvious choice for the talented mappers that did all of Foxglove manor, for example. Same goes for Fort Rannik. If I can reasonably assemble these places with map tiles or gamemastery maps (or heaven forbid, Dwarven Forge giblets), then it should be ok. I'd just hate to start off the campaign with a bang, then taper off and be back to drawing things out with the dry erase pens again.

Nothing new up here in a MONTH?

Hello everyone!

Well, I'm back from a very very long absence, and it looks like people are still making more content for this AP. We are starting back up on Hook Mountain tomorrow and I'll be turning my mapping eye to Fort Rannick - It looks to be a challenge.

Holidays are coming up and I might have time to do some work. Just don't expect the same level of detail that I put into Misgivings. That one simply inspired me. Oh, glad to know that the mold gave some the heebie-jeebies. It was intentional. :-)

Oh, I think I have a solution for our hosting and aggregation: I have Google Sites on my domain (educatedgamer.net) and have about 10GB of storage directly on the site (not to mention we can link off-site). I can create free accounts for anyone who wants to directly contribute to the project on the site (creating pages, uploading files, etc) and can even send invites to gmail addresses if you would rather have that.

In summary, if you have a gmail account, I can invite you.
If you don't have one, I can create an @educatedgamer account for you for free.

We can have multiple authors editing the site, and it's very easy to do. I'll get started on setting it up if people seem interested. I would start sometime this next week, during Thanksgiving break.

To get an idea of what it would look like, check out where I am currently hosting my RotR content - on another Google Site:
http://4e.educatedgamer.net

If people seem open to the idea, I would create a new one (perhaps at runelords.educatedgamer.net) and we could start fresh.

Glad to be back!

Though I'm not sure who to link it to, as my players seem to have taken the White Deer as their hme base, I'll need to do a map for that as well. When I get it done, I'll try to pass it on to the correct poster here.

Welcome back Tintagel, this is a very good news for Paizo community.

Ok, another small contribution. This is a battlemap (at 100dpi) for the Graul's yard in Hook Mountain. The one in the PDF/module is too low resolution for a proper battlemap.

This was done last night when I realized I didn't have a suitable map for that encounter with Crowfood. It's not great, but functional.

Glad to see you back on the boards, Tintagel. I can't wait to see your take on Fort Rannick sir! :)

Hey Gray.

You updating the list soon?

Here's a thread I started for extra events and goings on during the Swallowtail Festival during Burnt Offerings.

Humanizing and familiarising players with Nualia, her burned journal pages.

I found a list for Xanesha for PF#2 and decided to make it look better, i've been tinkering with photoshop.

Know what would be awesome?

In my game, the list was in Thassilonian script. You could use the font from this thread and double up on three letters, making for an excellent prop that the linguistics players could "decipher" at the table.

Hear ye! Hear ye! I've decided to give Gr4ys a break and draw up an aggregate list of stuff from this thread! I'm working on it now. You all can help me by finding new stuff from outside the thread that belongs here, or by announcing things that were not on Gr4ys' last list that should have been. I plan to post the results some time this weekend.

I always thought that the name of Nualia's former lover/almost-baby-daddy should be at the top of that list...

And why not Lonjiku for good measure?

Sovereign Court

Probably because A) he did die, but wasn't "marked" and B) Wrath already had him...

Finally, here is the raw BBCode for the index, created by substituting "{}" for "{}". This will hopefully make it much easier to update in the future.

    BBCode: {Spoiler}{/spoiler}

  • Liberty's Edge

    Thanks for your efforts Lincoln.

I wasn't thrilled with the calendars out there so I took the information and added temperature and precipitation data as well as some of the early campaign events as they will play out in my game. The calendar file is in Excel format and is located here.

I plan for the three con artists who are murdered in the prequel part of Skinsaw to dupe one or more of the party members (which might make their murder somewhat gratifying for the PCs) early in Skinsaw:

-The first con will be that one of the con artists will have broken into a house in Sandpoint that is owned by a merchant who is out of town. He will then sell the "fully furnished" house to one of the PCs for a low low price.

-The second con is known as "the Melon Drop". Basically one of the con artists will bump into one of the PCs dropping and breaking a rare and expensive bottle of wine, blame the bump on the PC and demand payment for what is basically valueless.

-The third con will see one of the PCs seducing a woman who drugs and robs him before they consummate.

Also, I am planning on adding a wrinkle to the boar hunt whereby one of the boars is a wereboar in animal form so I had to push the hunt back a bit to coincide with the full moon.

The temperature and precipitation data is real world almanac data from the Canadian coastal city of Halifax for the years 1979-1981 (temperate, rainy with occasional lingering snow in the deep winter). The original data source is here.

Yeah at the bottom of each page is the year's data in .csv or .xls. It's pretty sweet - just find a climatic zone you like and you have the weather report for as many years as you want to cut and paste.

It's an obscure reference.. but he's already dead. Nualia tracked him down him and killed him herself, just prior to presumably meeting Ironbriar and Xanesha. If you're really curious I'll try to find it.. it's like one sentence in the whole chapter.

Its on Nualia's Diary page 2.

Thanks for the updated index post. I think you should do some clean up on them though. Some of the links are dead links.

There is nothing for the following items

Combat maps for the Glassworks by Watcher
Combat maps for the Catacombs of Wrath by Watcher
Combat maps for Thistletop by Watcher

Those are the only ones I've checked at this point. I don't know if there are others. I was planning to download them and print them out to use them soon.

Tintagel hosted them for us on his site.. I'll see if I can some correct links for you.

It looks like Evil Lincoln put the old links from Lilith's site up instead of Tintagel's... and that Tintagel himself changed his website to a new one, and didn't carry them over.

That's not a criticism mind you, actually all he intended to do was provide account space for people to manage their stuff themselves.

I still have the maps, I'll see what I can do. Mind you, Tintagel's glassworks (and in general all of his maps) were superior to mine. I was using dundjinni, and they were just "new user" efforts.

These days, using MapTools, I just pull the maps out of the PDFs.. or make what I need using MapTools itself.

It looks like Tintagel removed them from all of his sites. That's fine, no biggie.

You can find them here instead

I tend to be a little self-conscious about them because they're not as good as his.. but then I didn't make them very color intensive. When I made them I was printing them out on a plotter and using them as tabletop maps. Tintagel is not only a better cartographer, but his are more suitable for a VTT.

Since the time I made them, I've moved to a VTT format as well.

No need to be bashful watcher, I know plenty of gamers who might prefer a sparser map. I rock MapTool myself, but sometimes I feel we're spoiled by all these full-color, nigh photo-realistic battlemaps. When I was a kid, we had to use imagination. We were such losers then!

Anyway, I'll get around to the index again soon, or if people are impatient they can just edit that big block of BBCode I left under the cut. I don't have the patience to keep coming back to it like Gr4ys does, so my contribution is to make it easier for the next person.

I had an idea, for the MapTool kids:

    Spoiler:

Runeforge from chapter 5 has a very abstract map, which makes sense given the sheer size of the place. However, I can't stop myself thinking it would be a phenomenal map for VTT, where size isn't a limitation in the same sense.

Would any of you cartographers consider splitting up the work on some Runeforge maps, using all the creative commons art and objects like I did for the Lumber Mill Interior? I think it would be really cool to have a swank velvety look for the Cages of Lust, alabaster tile and columns for the Veils of Pride, etc. Also, maybe fill out some of the "cut" dungeons like Envy and Sloth.

We could do the whole thing in maptool, except there isn't currently a way to transfer single maps from one campaign file to another. People would have to load in their own macros and tokens from whatever other campaign they were using. Now, that's a bummer, but if we did do it in maptool and used a limited number of textures and objects for each section, we could make them impressively huge... possibly much bigger than they were in the book.

At any rate, we'll be well into 2010 by the time my part reaches Runeforge, if not 2011, and I know some other folks are on a similar timeline. Let me know if you're interested in splitting the work.

Hi, Watcher, I think he's still hosting your maps. His RotRL site is here. There's a section for scanned maps down at the bottom of the page.

Sorry.. those are scans of the actual module maps with the tags removed. That is, those are Rob Lazzaretti's maps and Paizo's property. Not mine.

    Scarab Sages

    Hey guys!

Watcher, I removed them from Creative Gremlins (my new map host) because they were listed as my art - Whoever uploads them is listed as the artist - and I didn't think that was fair. If you want a free account with Creative Gremlins, I can hook you up. It's about 1 GB of storage and you can upload the maps to the RotR gallery yourself. I meant to post on here after I removed them to invite ya, but forgot.

Also, the invite still stands for an account at my 4E site. Again, I didn't want to post anything without anyone's permission. If you want, I can upload them there.

So CG or my Google site - I'll hook ya up!

Hey tintagel, I was looking through your site and I have to say: great stuff! Anyways, I've noticed that you used large parts of my Nualia backstory that I posted up on December 17, 2007 on the Upping Nualia's Presence thread (in the archives now) for your 'Nualia's Nightmare' file.

    http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/paizoPublishing/pathfinder/adventurePa th/runelords/archives/uppingNualiasPresence

I know I didn't explicitly ask for permission to use my work and I posted it up for everyone to enjoy, but I would like some credit if you are going to host it on your website.

    Thanks!

Now why didn't I think of including the BBCode.

Well done Evil Lincoln and sorry to everyone for not updating the list. I've not been playing or doing anything for a while but great to see the thread still going. Some great new stuff too.

My group is due to start playing again in the new year so I thought I'd better dust of the pdf's and check in. I might even do something creative soon, you never know.

Sorry about that - I certainly didn't want to take credit for the work. I pulled Watcher's maps for that reason - I didn't want to look like I was taking credit for work that was not mine.

I've credited you on the site, but I can easily pull the file if you want. Again, sorry - when I pulled Watcher's maps I should have pulled your stuff as well.

No worries. I really appreciate what you are doing for the community by consolidating all this awesome content. As long as my work is credited, feel free to leave it up on the site. Keep up the great work!

Somebody needs to create a thought-controlled search engine. I KNOW that some work has been done converting RotRL to PFRPG standards, and have seen it. Now that I want to use it, it's gone! Help?!

I've done some maps of the Sandpoint Town Hall, just to play with the GIMP and making Maps..... Hope they are useful to everyone...

Linking to blog posts, there are links to full size images in there by clicking the image.... Oh, and they are fine for VTT with the grid set at 50px....

Some of the above links for Burnt Offerings are broken. Any chance we could get new links with the info that was supposed to be at them? I start running this AP in about 10 days and would love to have all the resources I can get my hands on.

    Fantastic.

    Fancy doing a Barracks Interior?

Also, since I'm fairly certain you've done this inside maptool, howsabout a .cmpgn file for us?

<bzzzt> Actually all done in the GIMP. I *do* have maptool, and probably could work out how to create a .cmpgn but every time I've started playing with maptool, I've got frustrated and given up.

I have used it before, and not been this frustrated, so perhaps I just need to get back to the tutorials...

I noticed that my Sandpoint Marked Map is no longer at its original location.

this link will take you there:

You have to actually download the PDF to get the functionality. Just viewing it through your web browser doesn't do it.

I don't think it made it onto one of the above lists yet, so here's a link to a thead which Wicht posted, where he has created some background on coinage circulating (and slang terms for it) minted in Magnimar: *Brief Essay on the Coins of Magnimar*

Does anyone else remember a picture of the Scarnetti's being posted on these boards.

Maybe I dreamt it but I recall a cartoony picture with Titus in a top hat but I've searched the archives and I can't find it. Anyone?

The new Friends and Foes card deck has a picture like that, of a man with a handlebar moustace, monocle and top hat, all white, giving you that huckster grin. But I don't recall any such pic appearing in this thread.
