Here is the Sandpoint Glassworks Basement. I will probably hold off on doing too many more maps for Burnt Offerings, since they are pretty much done already - unless I just get the itch to remake one for fun.

I really need to just make myself start work on Skinsaw murders...

Damn! Why'd you have to go and post that beautiful map the second if finished running the glassworks!?

CURSES.

Scarab Sages

Heh, I literally finished it an hour before my players arrived for game. We finished the Glassworks today.

I will try to start on some of the Skinsaw murders in the next couple of weeks. I think the existing maps for Burnt Offerings should suffice for now - I just couldn't help myself with the Glassworks - such an interesting map.

Tintagel - quality work on the Glassworks are you planning to redraw the 'Misgivings'?

Scarab Sages

Misgivings?

I haven't yet cracked open the Skinsaw murders - is that a map in that module?

tintagel wrote:

Yep without giving to much away its a significant part and no disrespect to Paizo its a map that could be much better and really get across the feeling of the feeling. Take a look it could be such a good map.

Scarab Sages

hmmm... sounds fun. I like darker maps. Have you seen my Temple of Elemental Evil or Ghost of Mistmoor maps? It's a lot more fun when there is good story to a map; where the descriptions leave wonderful visual clues for you to play with.

In that case I think you will really like it as it's a haunted house.

Your other maps are also excellent and must have taken you ages?

BTW, I am huge fan. Please do as many Runelords maps as possible, I will keep pace and enjoy every one of them!

These maps rock! Great work, tintagel!

Google Sites is a new web-authoring solution from Google, and it allows multiple people to easily and quickly put together sites in a wiki kind of fashion.

I set up a Google site for 4th Edition fan publishing, but it's not much of a stretch to bring in the Rise of the Runelords content. Posting materials and making updates is just too freakin' easy - and I can give invites to anyone with a Gmail account.

Even if you don't want a Gmail account, I can create and Educated Gamer account for you to edit the site with. In fact, the Educated Gamer account IS a Google account and gives you access to Gmail, Google Sites, Google Talk, etc - except you get a spiffy ______@educatedgamer.net email address instead of ruledbycats1039@gmail.com or something. Just ask me if you want an email acccount - or share your gmail address if you want an invite to edit the site.

Anyways, here is the site I've started: http://4e.educatedgamer.net

Specifically, the Rise of the Runelords pages are linked to the left: http://sites.google.com/a/educatedgamer.net/4e-fans/Home/rotr
I think this might be a more effective way to house user-created content, and MUCH easier to update. We could still use this thread to post announcements of updates (and I intend to still use my gallery to showcase any maps I make) - but files can be deposited in one central place and easily updated by the community.

Thoughts?

Excellent maps for Sandpoint, thank you so much tintagel.
I was wondering if you could release those without the lighting effects ? (hope you only have to remove one layer, as i don't know how Dundjinni actually works)

Scarab Sages

I'm afraid that I do my lighting and lots of post-work in Photoshop, so it's not that simple. Still, a few minutes of digging and redoing a few things and I got ya covered. Check the Google site again and look for Glassworks_vanilla.

Wow, thanks alot. The reason for no lighting versions is Maptool, you can place lights inside the tool and it looks a little bit weird if you use "two" lighting sources (image & toolwise).

Tintagel: Any progress on the Misgivings yet? I am actively stalling my campaign until you map it!

Also, I use maptool as well, so sans-lighting versions are always welcome.

This was posted in it's own subject but I think it should be here too.

To connect the far flung PCs adventure settings and the town they love, Sandpoint, I came up with this item found inside skull crossing.

Wet PaPa Graul's obsession with skulls began when in the depths of Stoval Deep he picked up a beautiful crystal skull. The symbolic connection to the skulls on Skull Crossing even joined in his feeble brain. He eventually found the waterway into the dark control rooms. There he stayed collecting and polishing many skulls with great vigor in an attempt to honor the alpha of his desire the crystal skull.

When the players find his stack of bright white skulls against the powerhouse door they are crowned by the gleaming crystal skull. The four pound item gives off a very soft glow of blue and written across the brow in Thassilonian "Lenses of undeath freeze a door to the halls of hell". When inspected with a detect magic the school of Conjuration is detected overall and transmutation in the hallow eye sockets.

Being within 50 feet the inland waters of Ember Lake, Lake Skotha, Stoval Deep, or Lake Syrantula causes the skull to glow very dim and having any onyx gems within 5 feet causes the eye sockets glow brightly. Placing a gem in each socket freezes a forty foot square platform on the lakes surface as close to the skull as possible. If they are in or on the lake it appears right next to the skull (roll random for side). In the middle of the icy platform is a pair of double doors covering a twenty foot square opening. Unlocked the ice doors need a DC 20 strength check to open each.

Beyond the doorway are steps leading down a 20 foot wide and 15 foot tall staircase. Everything is made of ice and muffled popping and cracking can be heard in the distance. The junction is buried in miles of ice beneath the frozen surface of Stygia in Baator (Hell) (Mildly Law-Aligned and Mildly Evil-Aligned).

Entering the stairway those not wearing a Sihedron Medallion will suffer head aches and a cold wind blasting from the depths along with the planes alignments effects. At the bottom of the 60 foot long giant sized steps is a junction. Stairs lead upward straight ahead to the left and right. Assuming the steps they came down was from Stoval deep the Thassilonian word for wealth is carved into the ice, to the right you see in Thassilonian "Fertility", next stairs "Ire" and the last read "Esteem".

Proceeding up any of the stairs brings you to an identical door of ice. Beyond the one corresponding to the words are as follows- Wealth/Stoval Deep, Fertility/Lake Syrantula, Ire/Ember Lake, and Esteem/Lake Skotha. Opening the doors and looking out the viewer can make a DC 15 Knowledge (geography) check to determine what lake they are on.

If the skull leaves 40 foot area holding the door on the lake it begins to visibly melt (even in cold temperatures) and will be gone in a minute (10 rounds).

The item can be used twice a day between midnight and midnight, destroying two 25gp onyx gems for each use.

The item was created, used, and lost during the years before the Thassilonian era ended in disaster. Lost in a battle over Stoval Deep it came to rest at the bottom where it laid until an obsessive troll found it and brought it to the surface, so to speak.

Hope others enjoy this item as much as my group and I have. It gives them a connection to many areas including Fort Rannick and brings Sandpoint and Fort Rannick closer together. Also it gives one more reason for the giants to attack Sandpoint (to get the skull). If anyone can help me calculate the value and cater level of this item it would be appreciated.

Dang, no - I have been so busy with other things. My group plays every other week, so I don't think I will be able to keep up with any of you guys or your needs. I do still plan to start that map soon, but I've been working on getting an LLC up for a couple of weeks.

My first company startup - we will be producing game accessories for RPGs. Item cards, modules, artwork, and of course, Maps. High-res maps.

So that's been consuming my time - plus my 11 month old and regular job.

Realistic timetable for Misgivings is probably a month. :-(

Sorry!

Scarab Sages

Lastest high-res scans of Thistletop are up. All three maps, scanned at 300dpi (66 pixels per 5 ft).

I also Photoshopped out all the keys. This makes the maps ideal for VT software or player handouts.

Thank you the the contributors.

Where is Gr4ys? I like his updates and it has been a few months.

It's not Rise of the Runelords specific, but it's an interesting resource it would be a shame to see disappear from sight:
*Found in an Alchemist's notebook*, a thread posted by Set.

Don't know if anyone else could use them but with the final setting having it's special terrain I made cardstock cutout for it. It will take 4 pages to do these pieces. The 6 columns, stairs, and raised room are all here. Hopefully it's not too hard to figure out. I did the stairs in ten foot sections for large base sizes and didn't make the columns 100 feet tall (though you can if you want).

YAWN!!! 'As he wakes after a long Christmas hibernation'

You guys have been busy in my absence. I shall do an update at the weekend.

The 4th Edition conversion blog has completed Burnt Offerings and is now about halfway through The Skinsaw Murders. You might want to add it to that section as well, or list it as being general to the adventure path and not a specific adventure.

No it was created by one of the groups playing to give them identity and some kind of formal badge to parade around Sandpoint with. A great idea that I doubt my group will ever come up with.... :o(

Man am I glad to see this thread is still around.

You had us worried Grays!

From *another thread*, where it was posted by Lisa Stevens, a letter to be found amongst Xanesha’s possessions:

Lisa Stevens wrote:

they will find a letter from Lucrecia to Xanesha that goes like this:

Spoiler:
My dearest Xanesha!

I am so proud of what you are doing in Magnimar, with your band of murders winging souls to our Lord, fueling his awakening! Soon enough, Magnimar will be a much nicer place, with all of its greed sucked dry.
My plans proceed up here in Turtleback Ferry. You wouldn’t think that greed could take a foothold in such a desolate area, but when you provide people with just a bit of hope for a better life, it is amazing how their greed rises to the top.
The only obstacle to my plans is Fort Rannick, but that will be taken care of shortly. Then nothing will stand in the way of our Lord coming back to life!
Soon, we shall be reunited and our Lord will begin his most glorious reign over all of Golarion!

Some updates for Skinsaw Murders...

1) I recreated the 3 letters the party finds - with the Lust path. I liked the ones already done, but I wanted some consistency.

2) I started mapping Misgivings, and oooooh boy, it's ROUGH. I'm about 1/2 way done with the 1st level and so far I am pretty happy with it.

Against my better judgement, I'll give you all a sneak peek. This is just B2 - the entrance room to the mansion, with no post-work (lighting, dirtying up furniture, etc), so please be kind. My primary goal here is to match the flavor text word-for-word, so you could read the boxed text aloud and the map would fit.
Misgivings WIP

3) I made the 3 stained glass windows on level 1. I didn't realize it, but there are 4 more to do... ACK!

Wow. Impressive work, Tintagel. :)

Ok, more maps - this time some battlemaps for the cornfields around Hambley's Farm. These maps were VERY quickly done just before my game started, so don't expect anything great. BUT, they are fairly generic, so they might be useful to more people. The cornfield texture is from an actual, real cornfield, by the way - not grass. LOL

Cornfield 1

Cornfield 2

Cornfield 3

Cornfield 4

This next map is a Frankenmap, since it's a composite of 2 other maps plus my base. The barn and house interior are not mine - I just added a bit of blood and bodies plus lighting. I wish I knew who did them but they were in a folder of old maps I had lying around. If anyone knows the original artists, please post the names so we can give them credit. Again - just a rushed map.

Great work Tintagel. I'm so glad my group didn't play over Christmas and the New Year otherwise we would have got ahead of you and missed out on all this great stuff (as they did with the Glassworks). Now all I need to do is ensure they stay behind your group and then we can all benefit from your excellent maps.

Thanks again for sharing...

Keep in mind that it's just a work in progress so far. The final one will be much much better resolution and in various formats (with or without lighting for example).

I have to work the next few days, but maybe I can sneak a bit of time in here and there to wrap the first level up. I better, since I have campaign on Sunday!

What a co-winky-dink, I'm running this Sunday as well. The detailed Misgivings 1st floor looks great, with knocked over chairs, etc.

My players are currently in the cornfields, but I couldn't get to those maps for some reason, I get a 404 error.

Wow, Tintagel, I wish you'd do more of the RotRL or CotCT maps :D Or just give some tips for anyone else. It looks like you use...Dundjinni? Not sure if that's it, but I'd love to hear what mapping program you use, and where you get all the files I see. Are a lot custom made?

Any information you can give me so I might be able to make my own maps would be great: karuikage@karuikage.net

Scarab Sages

I used to use Dundjinni for about 90% of my work, then a bit of post-work in Photoshop. Misgivings is about 90% photoshop at this point. Yes, I make many of my own custom objects, but I also use a lot from the Dundjinni forums, since most are open for public use. Amazing stuff at that DJ site.

I've been much happier with Photoshop instead of DJ recently - I just fight too much with DJ and it has serious performance problems with complex maps.

On another note, I had to cancel today's campaign session due to other priorities. I'll still try to finish up at least level 1 and get it posted before noon though. Wish me luck.
