Hey, does anyone happen to have a downloaded, pdf version of these three items that they'd be willing to email me (all are/were linked above):

-Tsuto's letter in common by Greg Volz
-Tsuto's Journal by Russell Akred & Greg Volz

I was just about to download them for a campaign I'm currently running, but the creator's site is down for reconstruction.

Yes, I have those PDFs. Your email?
If it's no bother I would also like a copy of those pdf's. My e-mail is mortagon@hotmail.com

Those items in addition to others are the list of community created stuff just a few posts before this one.

I really really really want to say thanks to you all. Your not only helping me run a game and saving my gaming group from falling apart but, you've helped me help a friend in very hard times. All of the maps, errata and extra material have really flushed this out and so far my players are wanting more. I should explain a little why this help has been greatly appreciated. My gaming group (of 7) has been playing together for the last 12 years. When we started only one of us was married and one of us had kids. Now all of us have been married, all but two have kids and one of us has been widowed. The timeline went like this...earlier this year our regular GM at the completion of a campaign announced he needed a break (he was GM for 12 years so..OK). One guy stepped up and said lets play pathfinder I'll GM. So we started the process of learning slightly new rules. On may 7th this year my friend Shannon Cathleen Collins who was walking down the street to a hair appointment was randomly and brutally murdered by a crazy man who should have never been on the streets. She was klilled by a knife wielding crazy person. I had introduced Shannon to one of my gaming buddies (Ken Vincent) 7 years ago and they hit it off and got married immediately. Ken in fact was the officiant at my wedding.. Anyways after that event understandably my friend didn't want to play a game involving bloodshed and edged weapons. So game night became drinking and board games. Then he told us he wanted to play. We looked towards our new GM who basically had over committed his time (newborn, 2 year old and working at a start up). We staged a GM coupe de'tat and I threw my hat in the ring. I've never GM'd so I grabbed the anniversary edition of RotRL. The rich detail in the AP and all of your guy's work made it a breeze to hook my players. From the bottom of my heart thank you. You guy's (and girls) you sitting around making stuff up has made a difference. Thank you

I would like to second Matthew's comments. I ran my original RotRL game way back in 2007 and had a BLAST. I used a lot of props from this thread and now I'm gearing up to run a PFRPG Anniversary Rise. And I plan on using a lot again! Kudos!

+1

This thread has been incredibly useful, as I am finally able to restart my group of seven victims...er...I mean, players. (Took time off for weddings, kids, you know...life).

Anyway, I'd like to extend my thanks for all the hard work some folks have put in to this stuff. It makes things a lot easier for some of us too busy (read: lazy) to do it ourselves!

Cheers!

Make sure you check out wayfinder 7 for a ton of extra stuff

Can we get an updated list with current links to all the differnt stuff out there

I was going to run this a few years ago and it never got underway :(

Well, now I am back to give it another go and wow! I had the goblin songs, but oh how the contributions have flourished. Well done to those that have added some and thanks to those that have kept the lists up to date :)

One thing I see missing, is I believe someone in the threads long ago wrote out the Mayor's speech for the Swallowtail Festival. It was very good from memory and I was wondering whether anyone knows who did this and where a copy of it can be found. (Likely somewhere in these forums)?

Cheers, C

Does anyone have a good map for the Catacombs of Wrath? It's the only thing I am missing.

Taldor RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, 2011 Top 32

There's one here. It's a scanned version with labels removed.

A note on the "Golarion Calendar 4707-4708 with Paizo artwork by fray" - while awesome, there is a minor error I noticed. The Swallowtail Festival is held on the Autumnal Equinox. This festival is listed in the AP as being on the 22nd or 23rd of Rova. Conclusion: Autumnal Euinox is 22nd or 23rd of Rova.

Dotting.

And thank you very much for the efford!

Andoran

Is there an updated version of what to add for the AE version if you have 5 or 6 players instead of 4? I know there used to be one...

Ricky Bobby look here. Joey Virtue is still active on the boards II just sent him a PM asking for his guide in word format. http://paizo.com/forums/dmtz0iwq?Changes-to-Rise-of-the-Runelords-for-6-PCs #15

With the risk of getting in conflict with copyrights, could someone with the AE pdf copy and paste the pages about Sandpoint (the fluff at the beginning and the "numbered locations" into a txt-file and post it?

I own the book and would like to give those players native to Sandpoint this stuff (in a revised/shortened version).

Scanning is a pain in the ass (and I don't own a scanner) and OCR isn't garanteed, and typing them by hand, well, I don't think I have to go on.

As I said, if this request violates copyrights, I am sorry for asking and withdraw my request of course.

But thanks anyways.

If it's for your own group's purpose, there isn't any problem with you doing just that. However, there would be a problem posting something like that up here. Unfortunately, if you want your players to have something like this, you'll have to put in the leg (finger, maybe) work. On the bright side, you could tailor such a document to your players and your campaign: leave out info you don't want them to have or add in info you think they need.

Oh now I get it.
Actually, it wasn't a hypothetical question, it was an actual request to someone of you guys who actually HAS the pdf.

As I said, I don't, but I would really like to get my players those location descriptions of sandpoint as a handout.

But
1) I don't want to type that all by hand
2) I don't want to scan it, because I know several parts where I would like to remove some informations that are clearly meant for the GM.

So the question is:
Would someone do it (for me/everyone interested), and would the fact of c&p those texts and hosting it here by a conflict of Copyright?

Andoran

I'm almost certain that it would be a copyright issue.

DracoDruid: it couldn't hurt to ask your players to chip in to help you buy the PDF...

I find having both the hardcover & the PDF to be very helpful.

My wife and I just recorded this version of the Goblin Song. People are welcome to use this if you like it!

It's loaded to my Google Drive.

I elaborated on Chinchbug's cathedral interior some.

I second that, especially all of the maps linked again here. Some of the links at the beginning of the thread are broken, so I'm wondering if there are links still up for those maps somewhere out there and where I can find them.

I made a little document to help me bring the town of Sabdpoint to life. It consists of a small random encounter table to get the PCs get to know some of the less important residents, a list of businesses in town and a little space to take notes. I had some time on my hands so I translated my document to english (my original being in german) to share here, maybe someone can use it.

My first session for Runelords is on Saturday. I threw together two maps using Campaign Cartographer: Vinder's General Store Basement & the Barett House.

These are set up to be printed out as properly scaled battle maps. The Barett House is on two pages, which I trimmed then glued together.

Very nice! I've just started a Runelords Campaign, so a handout like this would be valuable. (I've already given players the map of Sandpoint with Ameiko's picture on it - ooc I claim it's a promotional handout from the Rusty Dragon :-)

I did spot a few minor errors:

  • General Store (and Jeweller, The Hagfish, Sandpoint Glassworks, Two Knights Brewery, Gorvi's Shack, the Scarnetti & Deverin manors and the Garrison) are all missing the possessive apostrophe in "Sandpoint's"
  • Gorvi is a dungsweeper, not a dungheeper
  • Sandpoint Cathedral" .. that vendedrates ... (should be 'venerates')
  • You probably meant to call Sandpoint Boneyard a Quiet Cemetary, not a Quite Cemetary.
  • The Town Hall is an Office, not an Officer

And a request: for those of us using US paper sizes, is there a way to get a version formatted for an 8.5 x 11 page?

Andoran

Jacen that is very great. Much appreciated for sharing.

I have fixed all the spelling and grammar mistakes mentioned by JohnF, link is here

I created the document on iPad so I am not sure how I would go about formatting it to US paper size, I shall look into it though.

I have a question for you guys, possibly a request:

Has anyone running this whipped up a map of the smugglers tunnel? Maybe like an overlay or something for the town map. I have read the description of it but I am having a bit of trouble actually picturing how the tunnel works and leads to the caved in section, goblin campsite and the catacombs of wrath. Even a quickly drawn sketch would be fantastic, using this as a base and drawing the tunnel overtop would work if anyone is willing.

Map of Sandpoint

Jacen, very nicely done. Thank you for sharing.

So no one knows about the speeches for the Swallowtail Festival?

If interested, I have several docs for this campaign on the go.

I have a Realms Doc for each of the Goblin Tribes and for Sandpoint itself. (I have a whole system of realms creation I use for everything from tribes to forests to organisations to kingdoms).

The above docs don't really matter what edition/system you are playing.

For those interested I am using Rise of the Runelords as a Playtest for 5E, so there are also some stat docs too.

All docs are on my Playtest Thread at Enworld:

I have a somewhat long winded introduction that I plan on giving to my players. The portions of the speech were borrowed from a source sometime ago...I can't recall the source (iirc it was a play-by-forum version of Runelords). It's below in a Spoiler tag due to size.

The timing of the start for my campaign is the speeches will be occurring right around lunch time, rather than in the morning, so you'll notice some variations on what is happening compared to the sequence provided in the book. The map referenced can be found here. I also made up dragon icons for the dragon races game which can be found here. For info on the games, check out the Swallowtail Festival Games thread.

Edit: The PDF version of the map has some graphic issues...if you have MS Publisher you can download the original file here.

Spoiler:

The Swallowtail Festival has officially arrived upon the town of Sandpoint, and in the time you’ve spent here you’ve come to realize the importance this moment has on the citizens of this quaint town. It brings closure to a series of events from five years ago, referred to as “the Late Unpleasantness”, when a seemingly harmless eccentric named Jarvis Stoot snapped, embarking on a killing spree that would have been shocking and unsettling in Magnimar, and was catastrophic in sleepy Sandpoint. Nearly two dozen people were stalked and killed before ‘Chopper’ died resisting arrest. His body had barely cooled before the townspeople had to deal with another tragedy: an accidental fire that destroyed the northernmost quarter of town - starting with the cathedral, where beloved priest Ezakien Tobyn, his daughter, and several acolytes perished.

For five years, the faithful of Sandpoint have attended church in smaller wooden structures hastily rebuilt after the fire, and while their new pastor, Father Zantus, was helpful, kind, and wise, it just wasn’t the same. Now, the new stone cathedral is finally done. All that remains is for the Swallowtail Festival to renew the site’s blessings from the gods.

It is now the first day of fall, and the entire population is gathered in front of the main doors on the western side of the building. Flanking those doors, tall stained glass windows honor Shelyn and Gozreh, whose worshippers share the western chapel. Several merchant tents feature food, clothes, local crafts, and souvenirs. Some of the detritus of construction still lies scattered about, but most of the old scaffolding and waste wood have been repurposed in the construction of the high dais in the southeastern corner of the open square in front of the church. Welcome speeches should begin soon, and in four chairs on the dais can be seen a slender middle-aged woman with short auburn hair, a burly, bald Shoanti man in the uniform of the town Guard, a flamboyant man whose bright clothing is at the height of Magnimar fashion, and, of course, a pleasant-looking cleric whose fine linen robes are elaborately and tastefully embroidered in a repeating pattern of blue butterflies. The first of these individuals stands at half-past eleven, and the crowd quiets.

"It is so delightful to see so many faces here today, both new and familiar," she begins. "To those of you from out of town, I am Kendra Deverin, mayor of Sandpoint, and you are most welcome!" She pauses as the crowd shouts its agreement.

"To those who already know me, I'm glad you could all spare a day to celebrate. I'm sure only Rovansky, our tanner, is too busy to - oh look! Friends, here in the first row, Larz is here!" Loud laughter ripples through the crowd, especially among those who sit close enough to the tanner to see his unamused expression.

"Anyway, I can smell the lunch our tavern keepers are cooking already. A round of applause to Ameiko, Garridan, Cracktooth, and Jargie! I'm sure Father Zantus can spare an extra prayer that they don't burn anything before we get to eat it." More cheering erupts: the aromas drifting over the crowd are glorious.

"Now, since you have three more of us to stand there through, I'm going to sit down. No business today! This is my favorite time of year!"

The next two speeches go just as quickly as the mayor’s. Sherrif Hemlock is as usual far too serious, reminding everyone to be safe around this evening’s bonfire and requesting a moment of silence to remember those who perished in the fire that destroyed the old church.

Cyrdak Drokkus brings the mood back up with a hilarious recap of the long process the town went through to finance and construct the new building. He throws a bit of self-promotion at the end, inviting the townsfolk and visitors to attend his new production of “The Harpy’s Curse” tomorrow night. The lead role of Avisera the harpy queen will be played by none other than the famous Magnimarian diva Allishanda, a definate coup for a theater so far from the city.

Finally, Father Zantus takes the stage to officially open the ceremony. “Today ushers in a new season, many would call this season Autumn. The season which makes summer give way to winter, bring cool air and brightly colored trees to the canvas of the world. But others would refer to this season as Fall...and there is good reason for that. For today also marks the day that Desna fell from the heavens after doing battle with Lamashtu.

Lamashtu gloated as she began to ransack Desna’s palace, laughing all the way as her body fell into the sea below. Though all the world wept for the loss of the goddess, and of dreams, it is said that she survived, wounded, washed up on the rocks of the sea. She was discovered there, on the rocks, by a blind orphan, forgotten and cast aside by all the world. Though the orphan knew not of who she had discovered and could do little for the wounded goddess, she still stayed there by her side, holding a vigil on the beach, praying and tending to her as best she could. And though she tired and knew that the goddess had little chance to recover, she remained all throughout the night and into the week, praying and keeping faith.

And eventually, Desna did recover, though all the world thought her lost; and to thank the child who had prayed for her health, she transformed her into an immortal butterfly to forever remain with her in her palace in the heavens”

Father Zantus motions toward the newly finished cathedral, the sunlight glittering off the stained glass windows. “This story reminds us that tragedy is just a setback, not an end. Though our place of worship was destroyed, and our previous priest, Father Tobyn, perished in the flame, we have persevered as Desna would desire, and built anew. In celebration of our new grand cathedral, let the Swallowtail Festival begin.”

With that, several of the priest’s acolytes throw off the canvas of a nearby wagon, revealing a thousand swallowtail butterflies...the Children of Desna. The butterflies flutter in every direction, eager children chasing them in a futile attempt to catch one.

The crowd begins to disperse to partake in the festival activities. A sign near the podium shows a basic map of sandpoint, with various attractions labeled on the map. In addition to the food stands provided by the taverns that dot the immediate area, the map outlines several games and even a fortune teller. While many of the games are highlighted on the map with markers and painted signs, one is labeled simply with a pinned note.

Caveat: None of this stuff is mine so not responsible for any of it in any way, shape, or form. I'm running RotR at the moment so had a reason to keep it up to date and felt keeping it updated for the community might be useful as this AP may get more interest in the next few months (though you may like your updated APs shinier.) :) If anyone sees something that should not be here let the group know.

In addition, some of this is not suitable for work (for example stuff related to Tsuto's journal) so ye be warned.

I hope the community finds this useful.

Additions, questions, comments, corrections welcome.
