Phoenix sucks. For its size, it is astonishing how little we have that is worth seeing. But if you are continuing to California or New Mexico it makes sense to go through town, as the roads are very good.

Lol, I will keep that in mind. We will be coming through New Mexico on our way to Flagstaff - I forget which highway without looking - I 40 maybe? Phoenix might not be on the agenda - it is this fall, so I am not obsessing about routes yet. But I appreciate the offer.

Wichita - OK City - Amarillo - Albuquerque? Yeah, that's the I-40. Which route are you taking back? Vegas and then through Utah and Colorado?

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Albuquerque's cool.

We will drop down on the diagonal past Dodge City and Dalhart, if memory serves, and catch I40 in New Mexico and follow it west. I have honestly not given the trip back any thought yet. We really, really like Utah - our last two 'big' trips have been to Zion Canyon and Bryce Canyon. I could see us making another swing through the southern part of that state. Colorado is our second home, statewise, but there is always something new to see with the mountains.

Decisions, decisions.

(And yeah, we like New Mexico, and Albuquerque and Santa Fe and... - I won't live long enough to soak in all the places I like within two days' drive, never mind flying anywhere.)

Sorry all,
Unexpected trip to New Orleans.
And NOW dealing with unexpected window damage.
Grrr,...

Catching up,...

Ugh. Very sorry. Tourist season is kicking my ass, among other things. Dog at vets, boss being a dick, house in disarray.

It's all good.

My wifes' in class for 2 weeks to alt cert as a school teacher; I'm sick; one kid's sick; I feel like ass anyway.

Heh, Sorry to hear that guys.

But remember! It could always be worse! :)

You COULD have been at my job, dealing with a group that insisted on doing a 'performance art' piece, which included spreading canvases on stage and throwing paint on the canvases and kids as they danced. (While trying to keep paint off of the lights, floor, drapes, etc.)

Never. Again. I swear. :/

Hope you guys feel better soon! :)

Feh. Artists. Never a thought for logistics ;)

Artists.
They think thinking is overrated.
Clearly, they need to spend more time thinking. I think.
:/
Feh.

Logistics-SHmolistics. I just want them to know what they're doing BEFORE they get there!
The teacher was choreographing the 1st piece of the show on the morning of performance! And then was getting upset that I couldn't read his mind and make the lights and all the set pieces move magically just like he saw them in his mind! He was driving me out of MY mind! :(

I worked 10 years in show production, doing all kinds of labour. We started off with 15 David Copperfield shows and then a similar amount of Evita showings. I was pretty much ready to quit after a month on the job! Thankfully things got better.

Heh. Yeah, Touring shows are either the best to work with, or the worst. Never seen an in between. ;P

And it certainly isn't for everyone. :/

My biggest problem is that I hate,... H.A.T.E., last minute changes, (Or in this case, additions)
Unfortunately, I'm very good at making things happen.

BAD combination. Because once a group brings in something at the last minute, and I deal with it, they think they can do that ALL the !@#$ time!

Hm. Contract is due for an update. I think I'll add a 'Last Minute BS Fee' clause. :)

Moving this Q&A session over to here so I don't keep cluttering up the main thread. :)

OK, I'm still confused, (Sorry, my normal state recently) ;P

Granted, I'm using a 3.x version of a class in a PF world, so maybe that's the problem.

Presume that I understand and agree with everything you all just relayed regarding moves, multiple attacks, and Haste.

My shifter form special abilities list my attacks while in Elemental form as;
" gain two primary Slam attacks that does 2d6 each if your original size is Medium; " And as a high level PC I can strike 3 times per round.

So, this still means that I can only have both attacks as a 'full attack' action? And standard, high-level PC's Iterative Attacks the same thing? Full Attack only, otherwise only one attack?

If so, I have been seriously doing this wrong for a while now. ;P

I am so glad you pointed this out to me!

Not, happy, per se', but glad. ;)

Thanks,

OK, so, had a drink, woke up a little (Just in time for bed. I'm tired)
And re-read the previous explanations.

I think I was just confused, thinking that '2 slam base attack' meant that you always get 2 slams, but was unaware of the rule about 'moving only allows you to get 1 attack' (Don't know WHY I was confused, I play PC RPG's where that is pretty standard)

I think that I was also thinking I could choose whether or not to use 2 slams, OR my 3 iterative attacks. I now realize that while shifted, I 'gain' the attacks listed, but what is not expressly explained is that my 'normal' attacks are not available due to the shifting. (Although I guess an elemental COULD use a weapon to attack, if it wanted to) ;P

In other words, I was trying to over-complicate it. Again. As usual.

Thanks all,

Grand Lodge

Male Human Expert 5

Yeah, you have it right in the second post. Natural attacks just work a little differently. Gjetost, who is a giant with fighter levels, gets either three attacks with his weapon or two slams; if he moves, he gets one weapon strike or one slam. That's a bad trade-off for him, but it might make more sense to a regular stone giant to get two (admittedly inferior) natural attacks at its full attack bonus rather than two weapn attacks with a declining attack bonus.

The other thing might be the use of the word "gain" in the class decription. As a high-level druid, you have three attacks. However, you do not "gain" two more natural attacks for a total of five, though it can be read that way. Instead, the elemental form has two attacks.

Folks,

I'm defending my doctoral dissertation on Monday; right now I'm too nervous to feel much of an RP vibe. Don't expect much from me for the next few days.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

You wanna feel dumb, try running adventures for 4-7 supra geniuses. I feel like Fischer playing all the geniuses in Russia.

I feel dumb enough often enough, but thanks for offering. I count you in that "you all", you know.

Well I think you are right purdy as well as one smart feller Dm Heathy!

So do I get some of that exp? Or even better a quiver of never-ending everything-bane arrows?

NOW IN TECHNICOLOR!

Yeah; wtf.

Lol!

I PLAY geniuses here and there, but I'm not nearly smart enough to play them WELL. ;P

I love you guys (and gals) though. I like working with peeps who make me work to keep up with them! :D

Just FYI,
(Copy paste across all my PbP's) ;)

I will be out of town for over a week. And then going to have another (minor) surgery the week after.

I should have internet access next week, but will be limited on time. Will post as I can.

Thanks! And have a great week!

And there it was - I am now Doctor Vattnisse. I would like to thank the lot of you for helping create a place that is consistently welcoming, stimulating and interesting; whenever things got rough and I needed a breath of sanity, I've always known that I could come here. Thanks for helping preserve my sense of fun and adventure - you've meant more to me than you know.

Now, let's go kill an orc and take its pie.

Wait - you come here for a breath of sanity?

We're headed to the mountains fot the 4th of July weekend. I'll be MIA from Friday to Sunday.

Gratz Vatters! ;D

The line between madness and genius a VERY fine line to be certain.
As long as we're having fun,... I'm good. :)

Still on Vacate, will be back next week, (then surgery, again ;P) will post as able.

Recovering pretty good. As long as the pain pills are kicked in. ;P

Will post as able. Should be fairly regularly now.

My hardest part will be when I am feeling better and go back to work. I have to remember NOT to do ANYthing for 6 six weeks.

I did not enjoy this so much that I care to repeat the experience. ;P

(Sigh) If I NEVER have another surgery, it will be too soon! ;)

Grand Lodge

Huzzah! Surgery sucks, so it's good to hear yours went well.

Sucks a lot less than the last one!
(Thank goodness!) :)

Thanks,

Taking the GRE tomorrow (grad school entry exam, for those from not USA who call their tests differently) may not be around much today.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Good luck Heathy! Crit that test!

Grand Lodge

Male Human Expert 5

Yeah, good luck. What grad school path are you applying to?

I have not gone there, at least not yet. All the best, sir!

What are folks like me going to do with all the high-falutin' edumacated folk on this thread? What do you mean, it will only be me?

NOW IN TECHNICOLOR!
Vattnisse wrote:

I have a bsba in finance from aeons ago, and I'm looking at an MIS degree. Backend computer stuff.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Expert 5

Sounds like a smart choice. Up here in Phoenix the ad sites are full of business analyst/business intelligence jobs, which you could easily qualify for with a MS, and I'm sure the same is true of Dallas.

NOW IN TECHNICOLOR!

Oh yeah. Definitely.

I've been not-too-seriously debating a master's for a while, but I already do "backend computer stuff" and that's where I will remain, given my druthers. But sometimes I wish I had the training to contribute better - I'm a secondary math teacher by training, but that was aeons ago, as you said.

I don't want to come across as snooty - but would you really benefit much from a MA/MS when living in Tinytown, KS? Are the local employers going to reward you for the diploma?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Cool Heathy! G'luck!

I also have a MAster's Degree.

Unfortunately, it is in Theater. :(
Not the best-rewarded of fields at the best of times. Which this ain't.
;P

You'd THINK that a guy who spent almost as much time in school as a medical Doctor learning his field/craft would be able to make at least as much working IN his field as a first year school teacher?

Wouldn't you? ;P

Vattnisse wrote:

No, you're fine. If it was going to be a major perk, I probably would have done it by now. But yeah, we have quite a few employers around here that do pay better for higher education. It's a small community on the grand scale, but it's not like there's only 100 people in town. I grew up in that town, though.

If I did this, I would be doing it for my personal growth/challenge/satisfaction. And right now, I'm plenty busy without it.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

I walked in to take the GRE and I said, "Yo. What's up, byoch."
And the GRE said, "uh......nothing sir!"
So I said, "dass rite, byoch. Now fiss me a sammich."
