The slobbernocker in progress with (pretty much) the Big Kahunas of the Crimson Fleet is not over yet goblyns and margoyles.

6th April will see Our Heroes tangling with at least a few nasties they've not faced the likes of before...

Well, at least, not in character.

I will point out for when you are thinking of what horrors they have ready to inflict on us after their several rounds of prep, that you DID NOT allow us to go after then before they had that. You forced us to give them that time even if we didn't want to, so be fair about what they use it for.

No moreso than the prep time the player characers had before soaring in on Buttercup in broad daylight.

Fair enough, although we didn't get off any round/level spells. I am looking forward to this being a brutal slobbernocker, should be quite fun.

Correct, I did not permit the group to hamburger the Wreck (treehouse o' ships), although the primary reason was because the map was difficult to make heads or tails of on short notice. I've seen the excellent 3-D mock ups of the scene on other posts, which greatly, greatly aid in comprehending the layout in question.

Also, it is to the characters' advantage to slobbernocker the outlying defenders. An example is the group's present situation - imagine having initiated that assault with the blinding flash o' doom zapping the group when they didn't expect it, or fallen comrades getting coup de gras'd by the mooks that were in the buildings after having flying methods eliminated - stuff like that.

Ok, now I am really looking forward to this Sunday's game, for it has been far too long since I have played:) (one week!) lol, I know I know, doesn't sound long...but with a 50 hour work week, I NEED IT!

~raises an eyebrow at Le Journaliste~ A week was insufficient time to finely tune your customized character's death.

You'll have to settle for one size fits all...

^_^

*laughing maniacally*.....I have three words for you Sir Turin...

BRING IT ON!!!

I too am awaiting with baited breath!

Wow, that was close. I am more the lucky to have had those two life stones and to have bonded with one of them. The battle was fierce, and there were many to still destroy. The battle lasted a good many minutes, and even the Admiral had a tough time beating down the big bads. I decided to get up close and personal with a few of the enemies, and never realized how strong one of them was. I flew about 15 feet above the larger groups head in order to get better aim with my spells. This was all for not, for their defense was very high and their spells very powerful. I was hit by something that was more then I could handle. I don't remember much, except blackness and a rather cold wet rush. I wasn't gone for long, for my life stone kicked in shortly after I fell. I luckily had "water breathing" up and it didn't dismiss after I had died, so once the life stone brought me back, I wasn't drowning after waiting to regain consciousness. The second I rose from the waters surface, I had vengence on my mind, and cast "destruction" on the female badin that dropped me. The spell failed due to my weak condition and her high defenses. After the battle was finally through, I did was I knew would work while I still had strength left, and that was to refresh and heal my party from all the damage they took during battle. After gathering all the loot from this extreme battle, we found what they called "Deck of Many Things", which aroused my curiosity after the Admiral decided he was going to draw from the deck three times, each time being a good result. This made me a little more confident in the outcome of my choices and I decided to draw twice. After the first choice, all I can remember is seeing a small figure, naked and in the fetal position who looked to be in a bubble of some sort. A flash of fear fell over me as I was seamlessly transported to where I currently am now. I have no idea where that is or if I will ever return, but let’s just say, I have nothing but my journal to communicate with my party. I only hope they have the reserve and caring for me enough to once again come to the rescue.

I believe I was the only to heal at least two party members.

I wasn't taking credit for your healing job...I was only stating what I remember, which was not healing everyone completely, but touching on a few of the players as needed. No need to seem so defensive.

Sorry, didn't mean to upset anyone. I just wanted to be sure that everything was cool and that I wasn't upsetting anyone.

Sorry for the late report but I've busy with school stuff.

As we continued our onslaught on the abyssal tower, we found a lack of difficult defenders, but they sure were in large numbers to make up for there individual prowness. I was ready to continue assaulting more weaklings but our spellcasting types required their rest and dedication to their god for some more spells or something, sounded like an excuse but when half the group isn't ready, there's no point in hogging all of the glory. After a lovely nap inside my personal oasis, completely retreating from this abyssal place, we advance onto find a swarm of vrock creatures and a mobile demon statue of infernal devotion. They didn't seem to notice us but we sure noticed them. I did not notice how much slower I was without the benefit of a haste spell I have become accustom to. I charged, but my allies were so much faster than me that I decided to wait for a spell to get me in the fight faster. My companion cast a fly spell and I immediately interrupted the four vrocks that began dancing in preparation for devastating burst of unholy energy. I instantly slaying one that had been weakened by two firestorms from the journalist's divine spells. Those two firestorms made it impossible for the vrocks to keep up their flight. I picked my targets and dealt with them while the captain claimed his targets as did sir Ineptus and buttercup acquire their own targets of destruction. But enough about them, they can take care of themselves. The three remaining vrocks that were dancing realized that they could not survive to get their devastating dance to activate and tried to move to attack me, forgetting their defenses, I was able to get a cheap shot off on each of them. Between those hits and the already substantial firestorm damage, they fell before they could get off an attack. My next target was the might two headed demonic statue. I had a feeling that at some point we would encounter golem creatures and had purchased a scarab magic item to make my attacks devastating against such creatures. I took a step and with my gauntlets made my sword reach longer than a long spear and almost destroyed the monster. It got off a single set of attacks that managed to harm me but did not harm me more than once or twice, and those were only scratches.
We crossed over a river through the upper level of the tower to find an area projected by a most unusual trap. The only one unable to resist the demonic urges of this pillar of nails and hooks was sir Ineptus. He walked up to the pillar and gave his face to the horrific display of other faces. We managed to heal him but not his face, we would give him a reason to resist that urge again and gave him time to thing without his face on. After passing that column of face ripping, we came to a saddening sight. Two angles were freely walking this place. There was something off about these creatures, they had lost favor with their celestial allies and have been forced to live a life around their old enemies. The Captain began his form of diplomacy. Telling the trumpet archon to shove its horn up it’s a$$, he followed through to find another fallen angel. For some reason, Sir Ineptus tried to reason with them, but his method of reasoning involves a monster sword normally ends up in someone being dying. After angering them, the major fallen angel took its bow out and accidentally shot his other companion. The remaining angel did not survive much longer. We could not allow it to continue to suffer, right or wrong for what it might have done to be thrown out of celestial, so we ended its sorrowful life. We have rested for the night, preparing to deal with more abyssal monsters.

As a hindsight reminder to Commodore Ineptus, when you once more have a mirror available, you note two things in the aftermath of Torsin's regeneration spell.

First, your eyes are decidedly not human in appearance - in dark areas they emit a very faint, demonic light. The pupils have a more irised cast to them as well - somewhat like a four-leaf clover rather than the circle you were so long accustomed to.

Second, your face itself has a rather slight baboon-ish caste to it.

At a casual glance, these features are not obvious - especially with your proclivity to wearing full visor at almost all times. To those with the proper knowledge skills, however, your taint is immediately obvious - although the why is not so save to those of greater learning in such matters.

And the pommel of your Abyssal Blood-iron Jovar is also taking on a decidedly less-pleasant caste in its demeanor and appearance as well. Its mockery is sharp-edged and cruel - it definitely took great delight in the Admiral's repeated bathings in corrosive excreta-vomit from the flith demons...

I am sorry for my long absence dear friends, but rest assured I am still alive and well. The less said about what happened just after I recovered my wife the better. I entered a dark place that still haunts me, yet I know I will go there again should any be fool enough to harm her. It took many days and much please to Kord for magic, but where there was once the lair of the crimson fleet there is now only a huge rocky spire. I made sure to engrave a warning on it, nice and big so it's hard to miss. It read like this:

"This is all that remains of those who would harm my family. Should any be foolish enough to follow in their path, know that you chosen your fate and it will find you. There will be no bound to my wrath. I will pursue you even into hell itself. No god or demon can bar my path. Harm but a hair on their heads and your existance will end. --Admiral Monkamuck"

Among those who fell there was the filth that killed my beloved Amella's first husband. I wish I could have spared her from that, even if it meant my never having met her. Nothing I could give would be too much to have kept her from that darkness that still haunts her at times. Love is such a strange thing at times.

Enough of this! On to happier and exciting tales. Soon I shall recount to you all the tale of my trip into the Abyss, it made for truly exciting times.

'Twould be a good and pleasant thing indeed to finally see more than the occassional journal entries by the several players.

'Tis always fascinating to see the tale told from the various players - the combination strikes me as closest to accurate, 'though I do try to remember as much as possible.

I think the coming showdown with Vanthus will warrant bringing the vocoder to the table...

WTF! I just posted a huge entry and it disappears! ARRRGGGGGGGGG!!! You guys will have to wait a little longer I'm afraid, for I don't have time in the next few days to go back to try again. Sorry. Next time.

It’s been a while ladies and gents, but never fear, the Admiral has not forgotten you. Now after cleaning out that nest of vipers known as the crimson fleet, and messing around with a strange deck of cards, we still had two people to rescue and someone to kill. Vanthas was still out there as some sort of undead, and both Lavinia and the Journalist were imprisoned. So we geared up to head into the abyss itself. The gem that took our ship there is kind of interesting, I may try to get another one that goes to different places later.

Arriving there we fortunately knew just where to go. Sailing up to the prison where the two of them were held we could see that it spanned two islands. On the left was a smoking volcano, and on the right was a huge structure on top of some cliffs. My companions were busy arguing with each other about which side to take first, how to sneak in, and on and on. Fortunately they don’t command the ship. My sailors knew to take my orders and sail right down the middle. I could see a balcony far overhead that offered a perfect entrance to the place. After all there just had to be an ambush waiting up there, and I figured a nice little fight would get the blood pumping as we cleared this place out and rescued our friends.

Sure enough I was right about the ambush. As soon as Buttercup got to the top I could hear breathing by the doorway into the place, so I ran right over to pop him a good one. Unfortunately his invisibility through me off, so my first swing went wild, then the fun really started. He laid into me with an axe that did some unkind things to my spleen, but I was far from done, not that I could see the guy I laid into him right back. In the meantime my friends started mixing it up with the others, everyone was rushing around all over the place, although Sir Ineptus did a good job trapping one of them in the corner.

Unfortunately these big, burly SOBs weren’t the only ones we had to worry about. Three of them lit into Buttercup with black beams that the Journalist would have well remember if she had been around, the fourth decided to tag Sir Ineptus. Buttercup did not take kindly to this, so she rush over to lay the smack down on them. Too bad she didn’t lay it down hard enough, since a blasphemy had her falling into the drink a few seconds after she rushed over.

We handled the guys over on this side pretty easily after that, but the time we had done so the other little snots had turned invisible or something and were sneaking on over. Fortunately Lady Tightbutt had a spell that made them show up again once they got close. They tagged Sir Ineptus with another one of those black bolts, which made him run for cover. It only took half a minute at most for me and Da Fighter to mop up the rest.

Looking at the doors to this place they were big, ugly and slimy. The place stayed big and ugly, and usually slimy, for the rest of our stay. On the other side of the doors we found cage after cage suspended from the floor, one of them had a much abused and frightened journalist in it. It made my heart break to see the feisty little wench so scared and worried. I figured the best cure would be to get her good and fighting mad. A little bit of what the ladies refer to as “insensitivity” and she was ready to claw my eyes out, but she definitely wasn’t thinking about what she had just gone through. After concivincing her not to rip my nut offs she was ready tear into those who had treated her so bad, instead of trying to run for the hills.

Fortunately we found a big demon real quick for us all to vent our furry on. He had some sort of magic that kept him from falling easily, but he went down pretty quick none the less. I will say that falling up to the cealing was interesting, even if it didn’t help him much.

Moving on we found a weird tower made of dead bodies, it seemed like something worth searching. Inside we found finger, eyes, teeth and the corpse the pieces came from. I saw something skittering around in the corner and grabbed myself a mutated rat. I thought he was just so cute with his three tails, five legs and the thing growing out of his head that I just had to keep him. He tried to knaw my fingers off, but a little flick to the head kept him quiet until I could find a cage. Our little band wanted to rest here for the night, and I though they were nuts. I am not staying in a tower that some necromancer can just want past and animate. I don’t plan to wake up in the middle of the night with some undead hand crawling up my rear to rip out my intestines. Instead we spent the night on the ship were we had multiple people on watch, nice comfortable beds, a forbiddence spell to keep out teleporters and most importantly no massive piles of easily animated corpses.

In the morning we continued on eventually find a break in the wall across a river that let us see a whole mess of demons getting together. I ran over first to begin the smackdown, and most of the rest followed at this leasure. The spells were flying fast and thick, and I was just getting ready to give three of them dancing lessons when I heard the Journalist scream in pain. Looking back I could see that something I couldn’t see had laid into her pretty good and she was on the ground bleeding. After going to all the trouble to rescue her I wasn’t about to let her go down for good.

Once I threw down a True Seeing I could see the some red demon bint standing over the journalist with a pair of swords. I turned, charged over and landed a flying right cross on her jaw that sent her reeling. In the meantime the journalist recovered her wits enough to crawls behind me and start healing herself. Now this red lady was at least a bit sensible so the next thing I know she’s disappeared. I spot her again over by Sir Ineptus attempting to carve out his kidneys. I follow right behind as fast as I can and throw another punch at her, this one goes in one ear and out the other. That’s not a big deal if I was just shouting insults, but as it’s my fist doing this she is down for good. In the meantime the others have wrapped up the various other demons they’ve been playing with and this area cleaned out.

Finally, we have found Vanthus, we have wiped out the remaining problems we can find around this jail, soon to be his corpse’s tomb. We noticed long ago a small tower in the center of the volcano, figuring it to be of importance, we saved it for last. Through one last set of poisoned double doors and there he was. His choice for a fight, calling out Sir Ineptus to fight one on one first, then the Captain, then myself. I obviously found this fine; a challenge is always acceptable, even for Vanthus, as long as he can hold his end of the bargain. As the one on one starts, he has his one pet, a magnificent dragon type of creature that was composed of pure magma, this monstrous beast that we could feel the heat from the hundreds of feet away from us it was. As I saw this monster approaching, I had more concerns with this beast than Vanthus, being over an active volcano. None the less, Sir Ineptus disproved his name, charging in a save as possible manner, keeping his defenses about himself, began to assault Vanthus, with much difficulty, we have trained to evade attacks well, with all the powerful fiend we fight, but he had even more defense that all but myself had, and only I can outdo him on my complete defense. None the less, the fight too a turn for the worst after Vanthus first assault, destroying Ineptus’s defenses, but not quite defeating him. The journalist, in a poor sportsmanly way, decided to interfere with his shot at glory; she later said that she tried to dispel his effects, since I didn’t know what she did, but that ended the dual right there. Out of the ground came all of his backup, up came the drake, and so began the bloodbath. Six or so undead creatures came out surrounding the group, as did a group of six or so demons. They assaulted the party in general, but with a massive death ward on the party from the unfroze Kahlua, the newest cleric to our group, they were unable to do too much other than a bit of frost. With appetizer and buttercup retreating back, Kahlua came forward and unleashed a useless but extremely high intensity holy word. These undead were far too powerful for even the most intense level I have ever witnessed (CL 23). Seeing that we were horribly outnumbered, I yelled to appetizer to call forth my Kordian friend with a scroll. I had made contact with a Titan, a fellow follower of Kord to aid us at a future date. We NEEDED the assistance and forth he came. While I thought he could help assault the monsters, he actually just drew fire from all of the undead and the drake until we could deal with them. Torsin, recently acquiring a sun blade, used it to counter the darkness within the area, and reduced the undead’s abilities to function. This fight was brutal, Ineptus died trying to destroy Vanthus and the Captain did as well, Vanthus, with a magical aura and look of complete sadism, in one series destroyed him. The group was split up and our attack was barely holding. Our saving grace came from an outside participant one of the new players , now following us on our journey. While the titan was wrestling with the drake, the little guy managed to slip a death scarab onto the creature, unable to avoid it in the mix-up of the wrestling; it crawled under its skin, and ripped up its heart. With this opponent out of the way, the fight was very winnable not minding the idea of going down in a blaze of glory, I was glad that this was not my final battle. We finished dealing with the remaining of his quite formidable minions and focused up on Vanthus. When he was almost dead, he retreated to a small room to try to power up again for another assault. The little guy got the killing blow on the Vanthus to many of our dismays. I wish it had been me that had that blow, but at least he is dead. Out titan friend did not survive the assault; holding the drake above the bridge until we could recover its treasure, but he was so weak after this fight, that a single attack finished him off, and he plundered into the volcano below. Barely winning this fight, I decided that I would have to revive the Titan when I had the available time, probably making the time, for he was a major turning point in this fight, while he did not defeat a single enemy, he preoccupied the attention of the dragon and half of the minions while we cleaned up shop. Now that we have barely survived, we healed up, gathered up our treasures, and went back to the ship to rest. On the way, we returned proof of Vanthus's defeat by returning his head. One of the new players, Kahlua, is a master chef and managed to pickle his head inside a jar of holy water.
The journalist must be dealt with, she disrupted a perfectly honorable fight, we respect her god’s wishes and she goes and dishonors an epic challenge for the Kordians. But that will have to come later, we need to work together to defeat our enemies in the mean time.

Its been a while sense I have written, but a lot has happened. I will start with the changes to me, and finish with my comments on finally finishing Vanthis.

For those who may be missed it, I have been pursuing Torsin for the longest of times, and every attempt has been faced with an attack spell of some sort right in my face. This is are usual morning ritual when we are not in a combat situation. I am tough and can handle it, but I can't help but have the utter infatuation with this gray elf. She is a practiced Mystic Theurge, but despite being of a weaker fortitude by both race and practice she has show more guts than some of our other hardier members. She has show to not fear dropping wands and going at them with a sword on a number of occasions; while those who I think would have been responsible to help us would rather run away and leave me on my own.

So during our many adventures I have made my way to start my families sword and armor. I have obtained 2 item familiar feats devoted to my sword and armor

I have devoted a part of my very life into them.
The sword is an abyssal blood iron jovar; Its name is Discord's Redemption. The armor is a mithral full plate, and its name is Lion's Hide.

With a number of evil magic things we have found made for great sacrifices. I have had the great pleasure of striking at them with the very power they perverse, but now purified by my actions. Kord might be happy. I have also done my best to make Discord the most effective against the evil we fight, with out the chance of it being used by someone else against us Kordians. My fellow compatriots seem to not flinch with putting banes to chaotic outsiders on their weapons. I just don't see the morality in that.

I have been focusing my Hides' abilities to reduce its restrictions.

After we finishing off Vanthis, I decided to finally help my chances with Torsin. There appernetly were two main problems with me.
1. I didn't look too good being human.
2. I live too short, especially for a gray elf.

So I have given her quite a bit of a show of conviction. I gave her a scroll of polymorph any object on the condition that she turns me into a half gray elf. So now I am a one.

I will continue later on with my actions/opinions in the fight for *cough* against Vanthis.

Well things started better than I thought they would with Vanthis. We finally came to the sucker, he was were we thought he would be. He started by calling me out, which is exactly what I was hoping for, a fight, me and him. I jumped into combat trying to test him with out risking too much. It is easier to do this with out having to worry about Torsin or our Journalist.

I had a great deal of worries about Vanthis trying to destroy my mighty sword, Discord's Redemption, so I started out by using my dummy sword, my silver Jovar to set off any tricks he had readied for me. I got the jump on him but things didn't go as well as planed. With out him being ready he parried my attacks, independent of his thoughts. Magic was a foot, but not that I could blame him. I took not risk of my own in that attack, but I found even off guard I missed him entirely. I now think back and wonder what the outcome would have been if I had not been so careful. I used one of my devices and jumped back quickly hoping it would be out of his reach. He activated some obvious evil spell. A large flying lava lizard decided to start flying up. Seeing as the jovar didn't break or suffer damage, I decided to test this new spell with a bow shot. It didn't help at all, due to it not hitting at all. Even being ready for his attacks, the only thing that probably saved me was that I was a good distance away from him. He came over and stung me with his stinger with little trouble.

It was at this point that the Journalist decided to interfere and cast some spell. Low and behold a swarm of evil shadow things just came all over the place! I rushed to try to finish Vanthis off but hardly hit him once. I found this to be the last action I could perform before getting my ass handed to me. Vanthis followed with many dicing blows cutting me down in combat. Assuming I would be awake dead with my god Kord. Discord's Redemption, Lion's Hide, and myself would be swiftly tossed into the lava below. As it turns out Mukamuk charged in right after me and went toe to toe with him, however... When I finally regained conciseness I found the admiral dead as well! I was faced with only a few options left. I knew that the captain would probably be waking up in just a moment, I had the fire lizard behind me, and Vathis still right in front of me. I was thinking I would some how grab admiral with my foot while swinging at the dragon and use my new vanish ability to pop back to the rest of the group after hitting the dragon one or two times. I could stay and try and finish off the dragon. Then I could just use my bolt vest, consider Mukamuk an item, grab him, and dimension hop to the party. I chose to take the more garroted rout and get the admiral back to safety.

The fight continued. I quickly noticed the titan going toe to toe with the fire lizard, as well as taking most of the hits from the undead that spawned. The fight went on, the titan eventually fell to the undead but not before the lizard got finished off, it looked strang how the lizard died. After we finishing off the undead, the captain and Da Fighter spelled up and attacked Vanthis. Vanthis took many hits from the two, and eventually dropped, not before getting right back up again, but this time alive! I was going to get my chance to finish him off again. The admiral and da fighter continued to beat on him, but he just didn't seem to want to stay down, some mystical force was keeping him up. He finally looked worried and the undead were gone. I had an opening to finish him off. I jumped over there hoping my normal strength would finish him off, but I hardly hit him. I had lost my last chance to finish him off again. He ran back and apparently a random fey of some sort killed him. We went back to the big boss undead thing to turn in his head, and away we were off to go after the Demongorgan.

We finally got to going to save this sucky chick from the well. Its name is "Shami-Amourae". These claimed bazaar temptresses don't really interest me in comparison to my sweety (my hot elf chick Torsin). The admiral decided to go in first through the gate to look for a suspected awaiting trap. We were not surprised to find something waiting for us. After getting the beast to reveal it self I charged in swinging! I with a great deal of force hit the beast with two devistating blows. I got two critical hits on a high leap attack roles. Not bing a fool I pulled back to let the less easily hit ones hold the beast off. I used Discord's Redemption's vanishing ability to pop back. After I finished popping back and turned around the draconic beast was very well diced up by my awsome blows, I was so awesome, Torsin must have been impressed with that. At first I thought it had a glass jaw for such a big thing, but as it turns out I was gone for nearly 20 seconds. Apparently there was a spell up that delayed my return.

We skinned and stripped the beast. After we defeated the beast we released Shami-Amourae. As Shami-Amourae was released we noticed a large mass of water falling on the sky following, I figured this wasn't good as it followed the sucky thing everywhere it went. It turned out that 3 possessing snake demons was in control of her. Between me and the admiral, after being delayed with a spell, made quick work of the things. I then quickly grabbed the sucky thing and ran for the gate. I came short on getting through the gate. The admiral very elegantly for him came by and pushed us the remaining distance into the gate.

After talking on and on to this thing we got the info we needed. This sent us to yet another demon, and another, and another. Now I figure we have a fighting force to "confuse the demon lord" himself as that is his weakness. All I got from this was I was told to keep my mouth shut, as I hadn't helped things in the past with talking. Along the way we returned a valuable relic to the dwarves. We were rewarded greatly with a feast and parties.

Lo, and behold the twin faces of madness and savagery. Know ye now the true meaning of Fear, savoring your eminent death. For at no other time in your miserable mortal existences shall ye truly appreciate what it is to be alive.

By the by, Olangru sends his regards...
