Has anyone got any fun Thunderstrike stories? I know there are threads for Churtle and Avner but what about the horse?
In my game the party's paladin decided to charge the T-Rex on the beach while astride Thunderstrike, generally rolling and doing so well that she did the coup de grace at the dramatic moment of the fight.

The stupid horse never even made it aboard the "Sea Wyvern" in the first place, since it wouldn't have fit through the cargo-hatches anyway, and no-one was willing to keep it on deck.
Avner folded like a lawn-chair on the subject due to a "Suggestion" from the group's wizard.And basically, I found the enitire concept fairly ludicurous, taking a prize breeding horse along to a far-off isle where there are no other horses....
And too obviously stolen a scene from "1492" anyway
Somewhere on the Isle of Dread roams Thunderstrike; he fled into the darkness after Olangru's first attack, carrying Avner with him (We all cheered even as Olangru did his horrible, PC-safety-wrecking tactics. While Avner was killed off camera by a recently turned-undead PC, no mention was made of his horse, which road off into the night.
On another horse related note (not to threadjack) Sir Andros's Fearknaught's (Enemy of my Enemies) trusty steed Wanderer stole all the credit in the RedFang fight, killing the ancient son of Nidhogg with a critical hit combined with a smite attack hoof to the head. Pissed all of us off..." Haha!... Miracle! (We renamed him after the horse in Kentucky Fried Movie) .

Dude...I loved that part of 1492! I love the one Spanish officer with his stallion prancing on the beach, that was great! Anyway my group had a slightly bigger ship.

See how mileage varies.... But I could never rid myself of the feeling that Richard Pett and Jason Buhlmann had that scene in mind when designing Avner, hehe
I seriously wonder how long Thunderstrike is going to live with my group. Avner barely made it on the ship alive without getting his throat cut by the half-drow fighter/thief and the human blackguard-in-training fighter.
Isn't there an Avner stories thread in the archives? Maybe we should resurrect it, we dms newer to the AP.
Yikes! Yeah that would do it, poor Thunderstrike. I felt sorriest for him among the survivors because he never chose to be there. Very effective though.
Thunderstrike never dies. The party pulled out ALL the stops to rescue him from the bar-lguras and Lavinia ended up riding him when she led the charge into the demon fog to rescue the kidnapped colonists. Since Avner ended up as a kind-of-cohort, taking levels in cavalier, order of the cockatrice (*ahem*), of course...
Anyway, yeah, aside from Lavinia (who everyone loves) and Vanthus (who everyone loves to hate), it's fair to say that Avner, Churtle, and Thunderstrike (and Tavey, who ended up a tragic/heroic cohort) have become some of the premier NPCs of the campaign.
This almost cause the party (and players) to fall apart in my game! The party spent ages arguing why Avner shouldn't take Thunderstrike...... only once it was resolved for the party Druid to decide his new animal companion was going to be a horse, and he wanted to take it with him on the ship....
