I've played Slayers before and had alot of fun with them. I am willing to play one if need be but thought i'd hold out for others to try out the class.

Question: speaking of unofficial sources: Would you allow a gnome in your game(source: Apocrypha Now)? I realize it's not 2nd edition but they are pretty similar to halflings. Otherwise, I thought i'd role up a halfling character with rogish tendencies. Thoughts?

I don't have that source. But I am pretty open-minded. What are the traits of gnomes? Put it in a spoiler. Thanks.

Sure do. It tells one everything needed to know about the creatures of the dark including the fact that not all have a severe allergy to the sun. It is interesting how they approached the topic, kinda clever, actually.

GNOMES:

Gnomes are found throughout the known world and are only slightly less numerous than halflings. They are a bit clannish and tend to have a chip on both shoulders. Gnome peddlars are a common site and are afforded almost as much respect as the dwarves in regards to smiths and engineering. Gnomes are known for the acerbic wit and sharp-tongued sarcasm. In fact, a Gnomic capacity for vitriol led to the apointment of a gnome to Imperial Court Jester in 1143, and gnomic appointments have become custom ever since.

Gnomes prefer to live among other gnomes in isolated gnomic communities, these comunities and in burrows and caverns. Adventuring Gnomes are the exception. Gnomes love fishing and practical jokes.

Gnomes in the Empire live under The Mirror Moores and number over 1000 inhabitants.

Speak: Ghassally-a Gnomic dialect of Khazalid(Drarfish).
Night Vision: 30 yards.
Alignments: N-G
Height: Male 3'4''plus d10, female: 3'2'' plus d10.
Psychology: Hatred for Goblins.
Age: Maximum of 200 years.
Spellcasting: Yes/capable
Appearance: similarities to dwarves but with much larger and longer ears. I'll have to find a pic and post.

I'll hold off on my starting career to see what is needed in the party.

Back story

Jacob was born premature and because of it has always been small and very weak. His parents dotted on him as he was there only child especially his mother Maria. However although he was given every advantage he has never truly lived up to his potential.
At the age of sixteen he entered into the family business and became a merchant selling goods up and down the riek. He quickly grew to hate the work and began to take risks for quicker profits. Due to a series of bad deals he now finds himself in the debt of a local crime lord. He currently owes close to a thousand crowns. This situation forced him to turn to crime. He was naturally good at it and because of his contacts and ability to gain trust the work became very appealing. However the local crime lord has upped the ante by insisting that all debts be paid in full. He has struck a deal with him to buy time. That deal gives Jacob a year to find the money with interest or the crime lord takes over the family business and all its assets which include the family home.

Jacob is currently 24 years old, quite good looking maybe a little smarmy to some. Has clearly had a good education however he finds it hard to make friends so has tended to work alone up to this point.

Jacob believes that magic may hold a cure to his ailments and has been looking to become an apprentice so far with no success.

I have left several things unnamed to give the dm some options and some ideas that I hope might fit in. Naturally I will change things if they don’t fit in with the campaign.

That and the fact that I just ordered Tome of Salvation with some Xmas money from my wife (she's timid about buying me gaming stuff, so she usually just hand me money and says "Here, get something you want".)

I loved the "Slayer" series. The omnibus i'm currently reading is the "Blackhearts," by Nathan Long. I'm about 600 pages in and am really enjoying the dark and grittiness of it.

My bad. I wasnt clear. The books i listed, including the link, take place in the warhammer world. If you havent read the books, then i highly recommend reading them. I just listed them as good reading to get us in the warhammer mindset.

If anyone likes detective stories, then try reading Zavant by Gordon Rennie. This is set in Warhammer's Altdorf, mostly.

For really dark stuff, try The Laughter of Dark Gods by David Pringle.

The Slayer series is also a must read.

My hopes for the campaign

I would like a lot of player interaction and dm surport of the back story i and the others create.

I want to immerse myself in some massive plot.

What i hope is its very dark and tough i have no issues with losing a character i hate it when people pull punches.

I will do all i can to support my dm and fellow players.

Naturally there is a lot about my character i want to explore as we play.

Radavel, I owe you an apology. With work and home life as it is, I have been unable to do just about anything. I really was hoping to be able to get involved in this game, but as you can see, this is the first time I have had to post, let alone make and post a character. I am sorry. Hope the game goes well.
