"Part of that security will require me to send my goblin friend here away from us," Jessa responds, "The charm won't last forever. I'll speak with him about Nualia and our intention to take her from here. And I'll also tell him about the importance of disbanding the goblin army. Who knows if it'll have any effect. He finds more of his kind and can at least manage to confuse or dissuade some of them based on what we accomplished here, it's probably a good thing."

"The bad part, however," she concedes, "Is that once I send him away, and the charm wear off, he'll remember everything that happened. He'll also know where we are. Now we can still use that trapped hallway for some measure of security, I'd imagine. But we'll have to stay vigilant in case he decides to come back with some friends and eliminate us or mount a rescue attempt to free Nualia. What do you guys think? Should we stay somewhere down here or try and climb out of this place as weakened as we are?"

I whisper to Jess; "Can't we just tie him up as well? There's not a lot of goblins he can attract when he's tied up and gagged."

"Hmmmm...that's an idea," Jessa whispers back, "But he wouldn't stand still for it while he's charmed. We'd have to overwhelm him once the enchantment's gone."

Deciding I'd rather have something to do, I walk over to the North door and stand next to it: "Let's find a better hideout."

Then I hold my wounds rather feebly and ask: "Who wants to lead the way?"

"I'll lead, but we should all move together."

Across the way is the door from which Nualia exited to head south after her "pet."

Meanwhile, the goblin, who can apparently speak common well enough to understand their every word looks confusedly at Jessa as if trying to decide what she means with her strange words regarding his behavior.

"Let's try that way," Jessa suggests, pointing at the door, "Nualia came from there. And if she felt comfortable in that room, maybe we will as well."

"Let's give it a try."

I wait for someone else to open the door.

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

Kenzo gives a nod to the others, and opens the door, ready for anything.

A wide stone ledge of red marble lines the curving walls of this room, which is well-lit by four burning skulls that sit in each corner. Three chairs rest in the room, and both stone ledges are covered with books, scrolls, teeth, bones, scrimshaw artwork, jars of deformed creatures soaking in brine, taxidermied animals and limbs, and other strange objects. To the north, a large round fountain filled with frothy blue water fills the room with the gentle sound of bubbling.

Female Human Wizard (Diviner) 2 / Cleric 1 of Sivhana

"Well...this seems like a potentially relaxing place," Jessa offers and then hesitates as she peers at some of the jars and taxidermied objects, "...although a bit odd. At least the fountain sounds relaxing. Can we defend it and rest here?"

"Creepy, but secure looking. I wonder if that water is safe?"

So, should we check the double doors to the south as well?

"That reminds me of the fountain those things came out of back under Sandpoint," Kenzo offers.

"Maybe we shouldn't stay here then?" I look around the room nervously: "I'll check it out." Examine the room, and specifically the fountain, with Detect Magic

"That's an excellent point," Jessa agrees. She sends Blackwing to accompany Gyorgy while he performs his divinations. Then, she wanders around the rest of the room, examining the various artifacts and knick-knacks Nualia apparently took the time to gather for study. She offers a simple prayer to Sivhana to guide her sight and reveal any clues the priestess may have left behind as to her true goals.

Jessa will cast detect magic as well now that she has it as a prepared orison. She'll focus her attention on individual objects and things.

Also, Perception (search) check... 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Male Raven (Magical Beast) n/a

Blackwing, meanwhile, also does his part to search the room. Flapping and hopping about the chamber, he nudges his way among the collection of things.

Perception check... 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
EDIT: Wow! What a greedy little bird. :->

Both the skulls and the fountains radiate magic.

Most of the items appear to be of a vaguely religious nature (Knowledge religion check) though there are also piles of handwritten notes. The notes will likely take several hours to digest fully if one were to choose to study them.

Female Human Wizard (Diviner) 2 / Cleric 1 of Sivhana

Knowledge (religion) check... 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

"Hmmm...these skulls seem a bit more otherworldly than normal," Jessa announces, "I'd assume they have something to do with Lamashtu, probably. And who knows what else?"

I will concentrate upon the auras, I want to see if they're the same as under Sandpoint, and look out for things like necromancy.

The skulls themselves are not particularly devoted to Lamashtu, but Jessa realizes that nearly everything else in the room is.

The skulls, Gyorgy ascertains, have had everburningg flames cast on the inside of them. The auras of the fountains are different. They are pure conjuration magic and after several minutes the only thing Gyrogy can figure is that the water flows into the fountains, compelled by magic.

Are we camping in this room? And what are we doing with the goblin?

"Okay then, we camp here."

I frown slightly: "Um, Jessa, does your new friend want to find the first bed to settle down in. I'm sure he could do with a nice nap."

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

"If Gyorgy and Jessa are comfortable enough with all this, uh, stuff, it's fine with me," Kenzo says, looking around. "Of course, we should probably secure the door and take turns with a double watch while the others rest." After a few minutes, he adds, "I'm happy to take first shift. Whose joining me?"

"I'm, uh, done in. I might take a later watch."

I sit down on one of the benches and try to avoid looking at anything sinister.

Female Human Wizard (Diviner) 2 / Cleric 1 of Sivhana

Jessa pulls Kenzo and Gyorgy together so they can whisper in private. "What should we do with our goblin friend?" she asks, "I charmed him. And, now that he's so helpful, I'm loathe to do him any harm. But I'm also under no illusions. If I set him free of the enchantment, he'll revert to his normal self and likely attack us or flee so he can bring the rest of friends back here to do us in."

"We either need to restrain him...and keep a careful watch so he doesn't get free," she suggests, "Or, I need to send him away and tell him never to return. Unfortunately, he'll still know where we are. And the charm won't last much longer. So, any distance he put between himself and this place could be easily retraced before we've fully rested."

"If we tie him up," she adds, speaking more directly to Kenzo, "I'd prefer you do it. I'm not nearly strong enough make him standby for it. And, I don't have the heart for it either. Not when I'm the one responsible for his...condition."

The goblin, in the meantime, seems fascinated by the fires that don't actually seem to be burning the skulls.

"He seems quite taken with those..." Jessa whispers to Kenzo and Gyorgy, "Maybe if I sent him away with one, he'd consider himself lucky and not come back?"

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

Kenzo nods. He looks at Jessa and smiles, and says, "You're very sweet." Then he walks by Mitnal, giving him a wink, and over to the goblin, who he proceeds to put in a choke hold.

"It's alright, Jessa!" he yells, "He's just going to sleep!"

grapple 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Hmmm . . . does the little buggers dex modifier count toward his CMD score if he's surprised?

Will save 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

The goblin's eyes fly wide and he looks around, suddenly scared. Its very probable he's not charmed anymore. He gains the grappled condition.

Initiative 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

Female Human Wizard (Diviner) 2 / Cleric 1 of Sivhana

Jessa grimaces at the ensuing struggle, almost certain any friendship the goblin may have felt for them has disappeared with Kenzo's attack.

"Be careful!"

Blackwing flaps around her in agitation.

Initiative... 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

On her turn, she'll cast daze on the goblin to try and keep his struggles to a minimum while Kenzo pins and binds him.

My grandfather is in the hospital with pneumonia. He's 94. I expect I'll be heading up to a funeral this week. If I'm suddenly absent, NPC Mitnal.

Anyone else rolling initiative? If you beat 21 you can act and the goblin currently has the grappled condition.

I can't seem to get my PbP activity back on track. Sorry. I'm going to try and do better about dedicating time to it.

Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0

The poor goblin is quickly dazed, overwhelmed and tied up (I won't make you roll to the inevitable conclusion). He glares around at all of you, pure hatred in his eyes.
