OK ...IF I GOTTA BEG

Yesterday I bidded and a won a copy of Deities and Demigods. You know the one with the purple cover thats about 20 years old. Yeah that one...Anyway I opened it up and I about swallowed my dice...
The Cthulu and Melnibonean Mythos (Elric, Stormbringer) were missing. WTF!!!! That's why I stop buying food for a whole week (yeah video gaming is a cool job but it doesn't pay very much). Just so I could pay the 20+ odd dollars to have a Cthulu and Melnibonean Mythos in my Deities and Demigods. If there is anyone out there that has pity for a starving gamer could u send me copy (attachment zip .rar pdf whatever works)of these two missing sections to my email @ esotericluv@hotmail.com , I sure would appreciate it.

Ouch dude. If the seller said he had the famed "copyright version" of the book, you should contact him about the error. :\

I hate to say it, but I am pretty sure that they published an edition of that particular version of that book that did not have the Elric and Lovecraft stuff in it .... it happened after they lost the rights to pubish the material.

Was it advertised as having those parts?

Fenrat is correct. In fact, the first two printings of the First Edition Deities and Demigods contain the Cthulhu and Melnibonean mythoi. Try the wikipedia article for more information. (I have a copy of the first and the second printing safely tucked away. They have been known to go for over $100 on eBay.

Cool, I have one.

Back in '96 they were selling second hand copies of the early version of Deities and Demigods in NM condition for only $5 a piece.

One shop I repped for at a con had 12 copies at that price.

Must remember to finish building time machine.

I got you beat, Jade.

Back in '84 a friend of mine brought back 4 copies of a comic with a really stupid name from a convention he went to. He offered me one for a couple of dollars. I turned him down.

It was called ...

Spoiler:

... 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'. ... First issue. Only 3000 printed.

I've gotta go cry again now.

Scarab Sages

There are two versions of Deities & Demigods.

The No Cthulhu one, the one you got, is around $20 on eBay yeah, and Mint is tagged at around $11 on Acaeum.com.

The Cthulhu one though, original print, is around $52 on Acaeum.com. More on eBay.

Just be certain to tell your past self to make sure to continue the work on the machine once you get them to yourself so that you avoid the whole paradox thing.

I only have LEGEND AND LORE 2nd Edition AD&D

See if you can contact Gordons Books- Secondhand Books (Darwin, NT, Australia). They had some first edition D&D stuff...they might have it in one of their stores.

Actually, I think they never had the rights to it and got nailed. I have a version that has those things in it. And yes, they absolutely did print a version without all that in it right behind the "settling" of the dispute.

Michael Moorcock has the pages for the Melnibonean mythos scanned amd posted at his site here:

http://www.multiverse.org/imagehive/v/gameart/DietiesDemigods/
The art is displayed first, with the actual game-stats on the last couple of pages. The resolution isn't great, but they're legible and should keep you going until you're able to find a decent copy. By the way, you shouldn't pay more than $20 or $30 for a copy of the book in usable condition. Shop around and be patient - they go for as little as $10. $100 is way over the odds. Not saying that they don't sell for that much - unfortunately they do - but you can certainly find one for much, much less if you are a smart shopper :-)

Last time I took a time machine the country of Lisonia disappeared off the world map. Those things should come with a Time Paradox for Dummies handbook.
