Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Yes, I like the last line, about seeking soft company, very Conan-esque ...

However, I do point out that of the iconics we've seen, the other three people at the adventuring campsite are already women ...

What are we to make of that?

That he doesn't have to go far?

That Valeros is either a very happy or very frustrated adventurer (probably the latter).

Rather than dwell on prepubescent male fantasizing, consider it a compliment. The predominance of strong feminine protagonists in the adventuring party accompanied by the token male adventurer show just how far we've come (not that there aren't still significant advances to be made away from the chain-mail bikini era).

Ooh! Character background info! Sweet! Show Seoni fanboys some love and post her next! :)

I think they chain Valeros up and force him to watch at night.

Oh c'mon, like Val has a sex drive but the girls dont? He's a hunka-hunka burning love. If I knew my death lurked around every corner, I'd totally tap Val's keg. And I'm sure Seoni, Merisel and Kyra would too. Well, maybe not Kyra ;)

Assuming they don't keep eachother busy. :P

I tend to agree. If he does behave like he says, he starts with the hard drinking.

Now, if you're drunk and start hitting on girls, what girl do you want?

The one who can turn you into charcoal with a word and a gesture? (Burn your fingers? Yes, among other body parts)
The one with sharp knives and an intricate knowledge of where to put them so they hurt most?
Or the one who can augment her own wrath with that of her goddess?

The thing about adventuring with adventuresses is that if you misbehave, a slap to the face or a knee to the groin isn't nearly the worst that can happen to you. I guess those adventurers in mixed parties who survive to 2nd level either know how to behave or learn to and are happy to survive.

Lol... a good way to put it. But it's been teased that someone in the party has the hots for Seoni in the party. So we'll have to wait and find out. :)

There's half a dozen people in that party, at least (if you count everyone from the dozen iconic characters from the first two APs, you get twice that number). That's 5 people who might like her. She's not exactly ugly, and judging by her charisma, a great person to have around, too.

I'd say that Valeros isn't the only candidate. There's Sean, uh, I mean, that wizard guy and the dwarf (not every dwarf is a racist, speciesist and sizeist). And there's Kyra and Merisiel (haven't read anything about their preferences, if they have any).

My theory? Kyra.

In their backgrounds, Valeros and Meri are described as being somewhat wary/distrustful of Seoni, while it says nothing of the sort for Kyra.

So, my assessment is that, earlier, Valeros was hired by Seoni to aid her on some expedition, where Valeros learned the hard way that somethin' just ain't right with Seoni. Meanwhile, Kyra and Meri meet through some incident that may have ended with Kyra dragging Meri in chains back to the jail, only to have second thoughts and bailing her out, thus gaining the exasperated cleric a longtime companion whose idea of a plan is stabbing someone in the face (and who may have a crush on the scimitar swinging maiden ~_^)

Sometime later, the two pairs end up colliding into each other. Meri's instantly suspicious of Seoni, since most normal people aren't half-naked, covered in strange runes, and weilding a rod/wand/staff that looks suspiciously like a sword. Valeros is instantly wary (and weary) of Meri, since he's not quite sure that she won't light herself on fire during an encounter with enemies. Seoni's happy (in her own strange way) that she has some more meat shields for her mysterious quest. And Kyra is strangely drawn to the scantly clad sorceress for reasons that she can't quite decipher...

... Huh. I should stop now.

half naked in an adventure party? THIS IS HALF NAKED and she was the most charismatic character in a magazine based on D&D here ( Holy Avenger and the character name is Niele)

and this is Victory , the daughter of a god and a mortal who came to wake up in our world some day and had to face a Cthulhu. She was also a very trustworthy creature and, for Gods sake, saved our world!

and, for the rest of SirUrza's post, that just comes to justify the novelization of the AP!!!!

the players may play the Iconics, we, in the forums can start to assume whats going on in theyre heads, but this way we will never really know.

so, here I state: I WANT RISE OF THE RUNELORDS NOVEL!!!

Seoni is just following typical adventuring Sorceress Dress Code...from the Suikoden series of Rpg's...

Jeane

And another of her, in the next game in the series...
Jeane 2

Conan is a beefcake.

You'd think so, eh? If fantasy resembles real life in any way, Valeros goes in thinking,"Yeah! I'm the rooster in the henhouse! Awesome!" Then they sit down for that first campfire and the ladies start discussing menstruation, clothing or guys. After minute twenty of no sign of a change in conversation topic, Valeros seriously contemplates cauterizing his ears with burning logs. Finally, after the "deep thoughts" stretch of the fireside chat, he picks up his bedroll and walks about five minutes away from the campfire to sleep by himself: wandering monsters be damned.

You can be attracted to and distrustful of someone at the same time.

Sect wrote:

That's not her way. She has to share it with most adventuring arcanists. I think the technical term is "Yay I get to survive more nasty creatures that want to eat my face off" happy.

Normal people aren't adventurers, either. And I think running around half-naked with strange items and tattoos is pretty harmless on the adventurers' scale.

The_PenDRaGoN wrote:

I'd say that's something like 85% naked.

Would they even contain scenes where we find out exactly what female iconic gets to know what other female iconic better? If any?

For some reason, when I was reading Seoni's bio in the back of HMM, I saw her as someone who got what she wanted, consequences be damned, even if it affected everyone around her. Maybe I just misread it...?

Noooooo! And here I was, thinking that I was free from Niele! Charismatic? The only reason people like her it's because of... do you really need me to keep on? And Victory?! Blergh.

Spare me from Cassaro's big head!

*sorry. Had to take that anger from a particular fanboy in Brazil who actually thinks he's oh-the-big-rpg-writer*

Red Sonja immortalized the chainmail bikini..

its iconic...it will come back in fashion just like the legwarmer..but hopefully not bellbottoms..

As an aside, it would be a nightmare being the only male in an adventuring party. Running off to a seculded corner would be the only sane reaction after 30 minutes of campfire chat.

It doesn't have to be a Rise of the Runelords novel, the adventure could be anything, I just want a novel with these Iconics. :)
