You ever try Henry Weinhards, their root beer, vanilla cream and orange cream sodas are outstanding

not spiced, all german beers are made with only hops, malt and water but with a taste that remindes you of some spices or herbs

Anyone ever try Goose island, I got a mix pack of Honkers Ale, Ten Hills Pale Ale and an India Pale Ale

Liberty's Edge

Chatoe Rogue 19 Original Colonies Mead. Only 6% per pint, but absolutely delicious. Lower AC makes it perfect for dinner. Goes well with ham or roast beef sandwiches.

Grand Lodge

Torn between Guinnes and Paulaner

Desperately trying to find and/or order some of Ommegang's Game of Thrones beers for Mrs Gersen to drink when Season 3 comes out on DVD. "Taking the Black Stout" sounds delicious... Obtaining any kind of alcohol in PA is always fraught with hurdles.

Come to California. You can buy beer, wine, and hard liquor at the grocery store, Target, the pharmacy, or similar places, because our liquor license laws don't differentiate in who can carry what, and online sales are legal.

I have, TFY! Honkers is pretty good, but I think my favorite of theirs is the 312.

Yeah, I was impressed with the liquor aisles at Sam's Club last time I was out near San Francisco. But the cost of living there is too much for my meager earning potential!

I have a bottle of Take the Black waiting for just such an occasion...

Me, too. Found it at the place I usually go. I've been meaning to open it when my whole Pathfinder group is together but I've had a player missing the last 3 sessions (which equals 6 weeks).

Sierra Nevada Rye IPA is now available in 12 packs, which makes me very happy. I've also tried recently the new Sam Adam beers- Cold Snap and Escape Route. Not bad, both are kind of similiar- light with a bit of citrus.

Been trying to order "Take the Black" for going on 2-3 weeks now.
PA alcohol control sucks.

On the up side, I am very much enjoying a bottle of Troeg's Nugget Nectar -- who knew something so floral-hoppy and fruity could also have such a nice malt balance? Well done, Hershey, PA!

Ommegang's basically just north of you. If you took a drive across the state line, I'm sure something nearby would have it.

Try calling some stores near the border?

Enjoying Ikley Black (brewed in... guess.. Ilkley, Yorkshire) and Black Cat, from Moorhouse Brewery (Burnley, Lancashire), so I will soon be having a miniature Wars of the Roses in my belly. Fun!

You're not counting on the 3rd-world roads around here -- it's at least a 3-hour drive to Jamestown, NY, for example. So that drive "across the state line" and back is potentially a full-day affair.

But the idea has merit -- last time I made a road trip to Cooperstown, I put so much Ommegang in the trunk I was afraid I'd bottom out the car.

Oh, those fun-timey Black & Tans. The perfect name association for a beer...

ffs

I've been drinking my dad's beer today and, damn, he drinks heavy stuff. I'm crying out for a refreshing, crisp bitter, like Brakspear or St. Peters, but it's all Bishops Finger and Old Tom.

Silver Crusade

So today I was helping a friend move...mrgh, but afterward we had pizza of course and Angry Orchard cider, not bad stuff

Anyone got a reccomendation for a good session ale you can get in the Midwest?

I'd prefer if it wasn't a pilsner.

Boulevard 80 acre hoppy wheat?

Founders All Day IPA?

I'm pretty drunk, right now, on a six pack of "The Truth Imperial IPA" by Flying Dog. The first sip was crap, but I adjusted pretty quickly (which is more than I can say for my typing!!)

Just got back from the con, I need to get drunk and wind down

I just (re) discovered this beer called Unibroue. It's a Belgian style beer made in Quebec.

Hooooooly cow.

They make some great stuff!

La Fin du Monde is one of my favorite triples.

I don't know what's what, i just drank the s!!$ out of a couple bottles though, and I'm kind abuzzed.

Yep, I found Unibroue as well a few months back. La Fin du Monde is pretty good. I wouldn't drink more than one and try to do anything productive, though. That's a bad plan.

I like Unibroue's "Trois Pistoles" a lot. Fin du Monde is pretty good, and Maudite is OK. They had another one that knocked my socks off, but I can't remember the name of it now. :(

Probably because you had those three beers before you had their fourth beer.

Tried two nice light bitters today: Big Bang Brew, from Shotover Brewery, and Undercurrent, from Siren.

The Undercurrent has really interesting bitter flavours and was a real pleasure. They bill it as an 'oatmeal pale ale'. Big Bang Brew is a house brew for a restaurant ('The Big Bang is a restaurant which specialises in sausages: "bangers") and was a decent session beer.

It had a musketeer or something on the label. Chambly Noire?

Shadow Lodge

Wow, I didn't even know this thread existed!

My favorite beer at the moment is Abita Strawberry. It's a seasonal beer and Abita is a Louisiana brewing company. Abita is very popular in the south. One night I consumed 22 of these sweet delectables in about 4-5 hours whilst watching an LSU college world series game at a local pub...then drove home (oops).

What's great is that is has a solid strawberry flavor but still tastes like a beer, not a "girlie drink".

*I do not condone drinking and driving*

Does it have alcohol? I might drink 22 beers in a week

I think it's "Blanc De Chambles" or something like that, I bought a 4 pack a while back(1 of each of the beers)for a game just for the cool labels they have

LOL

Yeah, that was an odd night. That was the most I've consumed in one night ever. I just kept drinking and then the bill came and I was like HOLY $%#&!

I was like..."Why do they keep giving me water? I ordered a beer."..cause that's how they went down.

Abita makes some great beers. Turbo Dog is my favorite; the amber is pretty good, and I'm looking forward to trying the Andygator Doppelbock on draft at a local NOLA-style restaurant, if the ice ever melts around here.

I see Will Wheton is selling brew kits now.

The other day I tried some sort of IPA at The Islands near De Anza, but I don't remember what it was. I switched to mixed drinks after that, and the bartender went abnormally light on the mixers and very heavy on the booze.

My Friday group tried Trois Pistoles tonight. Thumbs up all around. I think my gf prefers the triple wheat Don de Dieu.

I tried the Old Rasputin recently, and I think that it's my favorite beer. It carries a 9% alcohol (which I must admit is more than I'm used to, being a Fat Tire fan), but it's got a really great flavor that I wasn't expecting from a dark.

And my endorsement has nothing to do with the fact that I bare a striking and horrifying resemblance to the man >.>

Old Rasputin is the standard by which all Russian Imperial Stouts are judged. It is a fantastic beer.

I did not read any of this thread but my favorite beer (when I still drank beer) was Sam Adam's Ole Fezziwig. Only available in their holiday sampler but a great beer.

I haven't had Trois Pistoles in years. Tasty brew.

Took a buddy of mine out to dinner last night as he had just ended a 3 year relationship. On a happier note the restaurant had "Old Spreckled Hen" on draft. it went well with the steak and pork chop

Love me some old speckled hen. When I was in London last year I got to try old golden hen, that was a treat. I made a clone recipe so I can brew my own. Well, close to it anyway its expensive here in the states.

Just had Mayflower's Spring Hop Ale. One of the most amazingly aromatic beers I've had. Huge, fresh, citrus and floral hops. And yet it's a red ale, so the taste doesn't have any of the hop bitterness the big IPA-like aroma would have you expect. Really nice malt balance, and it actually finishes on the sweet side, with a hint of caramel.

Highly recommended if you can find it! I've only had 1 of my 6-pack, but I'm probably going to go out and grab another pack tomorrow before they disappear!

I have converted to Weirmayer's Blithering Idiot Barleywine Ale. It's 11% alcohol and tastes like magic and has you believe you can indeed cast spells after one bottle.

Try their Insanity. It is Blithering Idiot aged in bourbon barrels.
