Rise of the Runelords
I've gotta agree with mevers here. I'm an Australian too, but that's not why I'm agreeing ;) Gary really needs a break, and we know you guys all work really hard and pride yourselves on your excellent customer service. Although it may seem to some that nothing's happening, I know that Paizo is working to get me my Pathfinder. For other companies, you couldn't be so sure. To top it all off, you're giving us regular updates and you're willing to work overtime to get the job done. I'm as anxious as anyone to get Pathfinder, but I really appreciate what you're doing for us. Thinking back to the announcement of the end of Dragon and Dungeon I was amazed that Paizo had something ready to start showing us and that it would be released so soon. And again, we all know that the gang will be doing their best to make sure the delays aren't as long for volume 2. Anyway, I'm hopeful that Monday or Tuesday will bring the long awaited email, but in the mean time just remember that there's a lot of fans out here who appreciate all the effort you've put into this. Thankyou for all your outstanding work :)

My Seven Swords of Sin PDF isn't available yet, and I didn't think that it would appear before my Pathfinder seeing as I asked for combined shipping, but who knows :)

Vic Wertz wrote: We really hoped that we'd be able to finish out all of the international subs on Friday, but after getting through about half of them, we ran into a major problem that only Gary can fix, and he's incommunicado until Monday. Once he fixes it, though, Lisa and I will go down and help the warehouse crew finish processing them (even if that means we don't go home Monday night). Well, if you had told us that on friday, I bet you'd have been spared a lot of criticism. I know I wouldn't have complained the way I did if I had known about the reasons for the new delay. It sounds like the poor guy really needed his rest... and by the way, as far as I'm concerned no one's required to work day and night to get me my pathfinder faster: not Gary, not you, not Lisa, not the warehouse crew. With respect to the other things I wrote (giving PDF access to pre-paid/credit customers) I'm still completely baffled why your processes should be so slow (mind you, I'm not trying to criticize you or Gary or anyone else, I just don't "get it"). A modern database system with a few million database entries shouldn't need more than a few milliseconds per access, so even if there are dozens of operations per subscriber, you should be able to process several subscriptions per second. I think someone mentioned something like 50000 pathinder subscriptions in a different thread, so even at a leisurely 4 subscriptions per second, your systems shouldn't need more than three or four hours(!) to process all pathfinder subscriptions (not counting things like printing labels and sticking them to packages and stuff). If your setup can't do that, I'd say you've got a hardware and/or software problem, and Gary definitely needs some relief (another software guy to take some of his workload might be a start, and perhaps consider giving him at least one free weekend per month :-)
Fulfilling a subscription involves more than just making database calls. We have to communicate with other servers outside of our network for address standardization, postage creation, and authorizing and charging credit cards. This takes it into the realm of seconds per subscription, not subscriptions per second. And keep in mind that our database is being accessed by a lot of other applications at the same time. The web store is still taking orders; folks like you are making and reading messageboard posts; people are still coming in and doing their subscription transitions; the warehouse guys are shipping other orders; customer service is looking up orders; PDF watermarking info is being sent to the PDF server; the finance guys are doing... er, whatever it is finance guys do; we might be entering distributor orders or generating our own orders from our distributors; we could be sending the weekly e-mails, or adding new products to the store, or writing or editing blog entries or product descriptions; our PDF partners might be uploading new products...

They've been trying to get Gary another software guy for almost a year now. Poor Gary. *gives the All-Seeing Eye a hug*

Ditto. Waiting for the PDF seems to be much like a broken pencil ... pointless.
Vic and I stayed at Paizo until almost midnight tonight and we now think we have shipped out all the Pathfinder subscriptions. If for some reason, you haven't received your email and don't have access to the Pathfinder #1 PDF, please email customer.service@paizo.com and let us know as there is something wrong with your sub probably. Thanks for everyone for your patience. -Lisa

Thanks to Lisa and Vic for putting in the extra hours. I sure it's appreciated. Unfortunately theres still no sign of Email/PDF access for me ! Email has been sent to Customer services. I do have a combined sub and I've ordered the alternative cover version. Could it have anything to do with that ? Is anyone else in the same situation as me ?
Aubrey the Malformed wrote: No, the European deliveries have been delayed due to technical difficulties. This includes the pdf. However, I think what Lisa is saying is if you haven't got your PDF by now there's a problem with your sub ! At least that's how it scans to me... It seems that the technical difficulties have been overcome so if you haven't got it by now there's a different problem which you'll need to contact customer services about.

I stand corrected. Nothing for me either. Guess I'll have to send that email. Mine is combined with the Gamemastery module.
forbinproject wrote: Me either - nothing. I too have a combined subscription. So you all do not think it is because of Combined Subscription... I also have COmbined subscription and got mine this morning.

Did you get your gamemastery stuff at the same time? I have sent an email to customer service though I suspect they are currently asleep. I have combined shipping but received D2 PDF a few days ago. I raised this on the boards when it happened but didn't receive any comment from Paizo staff so didn't get concerned. I am a charter subscriber and have been for months. When I checked my subscription information it said that my subscription starts with #2. I remember queries about this some time ago but I thought it had been fixed. I wonder if that is the problem.
Where would I see the download for issue 1 if it was available? I'm at work and so can't access my home e-mail, but I hadn't received an e-mail when I left the house this morning, and I can't see any download in teh downloads area of my account. Anyone able to advise? Do I need to be e-mailing Customer Services.
For the record i also do not have a Pathfinder PDf in "my downloads". I checked the subscriptions page and I opted to have Gamemastery modules held and sent out with Pathfinder so there should be no delay on Pathfinder. That said, Thank you Lisa and Co for working to fix this, I'm sure you are enjoying this least of all. As Jow said, I dont expect anyone to miss any sleep for me to get my PDF. I'm sure that these are teething pains and when they are sorted we will all be much happier with direct shipping and no TPFG involvement. Keep us informed as always. Elcian
My order is still pending (Players Guide, PF#1 and Seven Swords) and I too have no access to the PDFs :(. well Customer Service has got an email from me. @crazy_cat
Greetings

Thanks for the update - guess I'd best get an e-mail sent.
The funny thing is... my other 2 orders have been shipped on Friday...:-( and I hope they will not have been combined, as I am liable for International Sales Tax if they have been shipped together. Waiting and hoping...
Austrian Subscriber here, got both pdf's (Pa#1 & D2) today, about 6 hours ago.
(No, I don't want to tease you, I just want you to know, that not all of the international orders did go wrong.)
