Sorry Guy. My dog George passed three weeks ago at the age of nine, and I am still not right about it. I tear up every time I see a picutre or pass his grave.

Positive waves. This past month has been a bad one for pets. Our resident butterfrog Hugo Solis lost his dog Moka too =(

Sorry to hear that Guy. Positive waves.

...for Patrick too.

Ug. Virus infected computer.

Sorry to hear that Guy and Patrick. It is never fun.

Thanks everyone. I think the hardest part for me was the night she passed she was likely having a tough time of it. She was pacing and wanted out 3 or 4 times after I'd gone to bed. I didn't yell at her but I got fed up and I the last thing I remember thinking about her before I went to sleep was "I hope you die" which was a terrible thing to think but I was so tired and I just wanted some sleep. I got up early the next morning and found she had crawled up onto the couch and did exactly what I'd wished.

I don't think I've ever felt so guilty in my life.

Taking your animal to the vets to be put to sleep is bad, but wondering if there was anything more you could have done is worse, and if I could do anything over it would have been making sure her last moments were peaceful. I think putting an animal down is a hard decision to make but at least you can give them the last gift of taking away the pain.

She was a good dog and she probably deceived a better master. I should have been there for her. I loved that damn dog and I miss her terribly. I've been doing my best to keep busy the last couple of days but I'm going to dread going to the ball fields on Monday because I always used to walk her there.

The Exchange

She couldn't read your mind. All she knew was that you got up 4 times to help her. My sympathies are with you.

Losing an animal is never easy. I feel for you guys. It's been over a year since I had to put my dog to sleep. I still cry. I still think that there was more we could have done, even though I know that there wasn't.

So my father is in the hospital with pneumonia. Last week I loose a dog this week we're fighting to save my father. He seems in good shape though and in good spirits. Seeing him today makes me think he'll pull through alright. This has been a rough couple of days though. Sometimes things in life do suck.

Good luck to your Dad. I hope he recovers.

Rapidly approaching 40 (years of age) and having to come to terms with the seemingly unavoidable fact that I'll never own a house* nor a car.
It's also looking extremely sketchy on the girlfriend/wife acquiring front for many reasons (including financially... yes, I know that sounds weird).

*or any other kind of abode, which I can alter to my own liking.

Thanks everyone, my father got out of the hospital today and he's going to try to quit smoking to boot. However to keep this thread on topic my office chair broke last night. All things considered life doesn't suck at the moment but I will need to find $200 or $300 to replace the chair.

I know that feeling, I broke my computer chair about a week and a half ago. Managed to find an okay one for around $25 and it's padded whereas the other one was wood, so still an upgrade despite the rather minuscule cost.

Things that suck.

Preparing to enter a second career by enrolling in a theological program at a Canadian university, surrounded by people all day, every day telling you how much they want to support you and just about figuring out how to pay for it all...

...then going to GenCon for a week to forget all about it and realizing just how much of who you are you've given up on for the past...I don't know. Ever. And wishing you culd just pack up your stuff and run away to stay with friends in Indiana, but you'd sure miss your cats...

...then coming home to a wife you shouldn't have married and realizing you still miss the girl you haven't seen in 24 years, and feeling better about the theology thing, but still missing the gaming thing...

...and finally, realizing that you're 42 years old and have no retirement plan, no real options for changing your situation, and--when you get right down to it, no idea what you would want to change, anyway...

...all culminating with having to post about it to an anonymous bunch of strangers because there's no one you can discuss all of it with in real life.

Yeah. That sucks. Hypothetically speaking, I mean.

Liberty's Edge

As much as I don't want to admit it, it's looking more and more like I'm going to need to check myself back into the Unit within the next couple of months.

Dark Archive

I have spent part of today going over my finances, and not only will I be unable to back neither the Razor Coast kickstarter, nor the Pathfinder Online kickstarter, but I may not have money for gas to get to work next weekend....

It sucks having a part time job that's 50 miles from the house....

10 years worth of traumatic brain injury & craniofacial neuralgia *sigh*.

The Exchange

My dad "helping" me install a driver on my computer. >:(

Dark Archive

That proud moment when the game has wrapped up, all my things get put away in the appropriate carrying cases and whatnot, organized into a neat little pile ready to be locked away again. Even the table is spotless, the only stuff left behind is the computer & my snacks.

Only to return to the table to realize there's one of those tiny combat pad magnets fell off and is hiding under the laptop. really?

The pope and his army of gay-haters.

My best friend in the whole world is moving in with me temporarily to save up money to move to Norway to be with his girlfriend.

NORWAY.

Dude.
I suspect that even in this golden age of text messages and email, I will not hear from him again after week one of expatriation.

Also online dating. That sucks too.

My former roommate, my best friend since junior high and pretty much my brother in everything but blood, moved to NYC a couple months ago. Since then, he hasn't talked to me and from what I can tell has turned into kind of a hipster jerk.

That sucks. :( However, it is NYC... he might have just been bitten by a Whedwolf and contracted hipsthropy.

Living on a disability income that is less that $1000/month.

I'll see you that and raise you a being told you have likely having less than a decade of life left due to long term damage from a police beating and a permanent and progressive nervous system disorder brought on by an inappropriately prescribed medication. Yay for never seeing 40!

It's all good though, My friends are planning on taking up Necromancy at some point, maybe I'll get to get my zombie on=)

Was going to mention my life in how it sucks, but I have the chance of seeing 40, if nothing life - ending happens in the next seven years.
