Actually, I have flu symptoms too, but don't know if it's just a side effect from the above ailments...

when i woke up this morning, the water in my home seemed to have been turned off.

after some investigation, i found that the pipes had frozen.

after about four hours of work, phone calls, and panic, the water came back on.

i seem to have avoided the disaster of burst pipes, but wow, what a way to spend a saturday morning.

It's been a rough few years. I've lost my wife, my mom, friends to suicide, a drunk driver, heart failure, and more.

I have friends dealing with schizophrenia, cancer, Crohn's disease, Alzheimer's, brain damage, dementia, brain tumors, attempted murder, coming home from Afghanistan with serious gunshot wounds, getting run over by a truck, divorce, unemployment, custody battles, drug addiction, dying parents, post traumatic stress, deployment overseas, and god knows what else.

I wouldn't trade my friends and family for the world, but I am utterly exhausted. I've led an interesting life, but I am reminded of the old Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times.".

No one ever said it would be easy.

I'm just so damned tired.

Words can't really tell of such a loss.

I just hope that, for you and your daughter that year by year the better days become the overwhelming majority and that the memory of her love outshines the sorrow of her loss.

there are better ways of getting your stress out -- exercise, go for a walk, talk to someone (even if it doesn't seem like it's helping it probably is). breaking things can only cost you money in repairs and doctor bills.

So even though he's had an amazingly good week except for one incident, the kidlet is suspended tomorrow. On Tuesday he bit his para pro during one of his transition freak outs. They are getting much better and we've gone from up to nine incidents a day to one incident a day, and sometimes even no incidents. But they had just got back from a field trip and he was having a hard time transitioning back to class. The para pro told me what happened when I came to pick the kidlet up from school, and the boy was disciplined then as well as spending time reviewing other strategies for expressing emotions and getting things back on an even keel. Well, apparently the bite was worse than I was told and it did break the skin just a little. Unfortunately that was enough to let it get infected, and as he had to go see a doctor for it the para had to tell the principal what happened. Even though no one thinks it's the right thing since there's such a gap between now and the incident and the kidlet has otherwise done great including having a no incident day today, regulations require that he be suspended for a day. That day should have been today. He wouldn't have missed much. And it was my day off class. Instead he's suspended tomorrow which means he misses show and tell, the one thing he looks forward to all week, so naturally he's devastated since he's being punished twice for the same offense. And just to make things more interesting, I have to miss class tomorrow now too. I have sent an email to the professor basically begging for understanding and that he would at least allow me to do the work at home and stop by to turn it in tomorrow afternoon. Still waiting to hear back.
