Shipping Method for Pathfinder

Hey Paizo folks,

Will Pathfinder ship in the polybags ala Dungeon/Dragon or will it come in carboard slipcases akin to those used by Amazon?

Jack

Stiff cardboard envelopes if you choose standard shipping. If you choose UPS, it will come in a box.

Before moving my Dungeon And Dragon subs to PATHFINDER (probably), could I get any idea of the shipping options offered for international (Europe/France) and of the costs ?

Thanks

$4 shipping is pretty expensive. I read in another post that you guys are looking into offering the book rate? I'd definitely prefer that. I don't actually play D&D any more, but I do read and collect the magazine, so I don't really care when the magazine arrives.

Its 5$ per issue, so as a subscriber, you pay 19$ (around 16 or so Euro) per issue inluding shipping.

Even better: with current exchange rates, its only 14 Euro... considering that its including oversea shipping, thats a real bargain in my book.

Another European Customer Question?

Do you ship from a european distributor?

Otherwise it will be pretty hellish - not to mention bloody expensive - to get those books in some parts of Europe.

Here in Denmark, packages from the US will be caught up in customs forever and be subject to all sorts of import taxes, vat (+25%) and on top of it a unavoidable fee - currently about $14 just for them to open the package, inspect it and add the numbers up.

Globalization and the fact that you - as a private person - might want to buy anything directly from a store in the US or the rest of the world hasn't really caught up with the legislation or realities here in Denmark.

Compare that to a package shipped from another european country: It'll slip thru' without any fees or taxes thanks to the magic wonders of the European Union.

Kind regards / Henning

I hadn´t looked into the current exchange rate, but at only 14 Euro? It´s a sure buy. I´m not sure right now, but I seem to remember that Red Hand of Doom was about 25 or so Euros at my FLGS - after they finally got it. And I think that this is roughly comparable - it has a higher page count at 128 pages, Pathfinder has "only" 96 or so, and the production values should be roughly the same.

IIRC, paizo had two german retailers in the past, but I don´t recall which ones. Or you might try and convince a games shop in germany to ship it to you. Wizards had a list of the games shops considered "official" partners in germany online, perhaps those may be your best bets to get your stuff.

Well... Since Pathfinder qualifies as books, it might be available from my favorite uk online bookstore (which doesn't charge for shipping).

I would rather subscribe directly from Paizo than having to remember to buy each month. though. We do have FLGS'es in Denmark as well, but with regard to Dungeon & Dragon, they've been somewhat expensive compared to Paizo's prices.

Anyhow, Pathfinder is probably going to be more expensive than Dungeon & Dragon is today. Oh-well... Quality doesn't come cheap.

We sell to several distributors in Europe, so getting Pathfinder at retail shouldn't be a problem—so long as you ask your retailer to order it, that is! And if their distributor doesn't know how to get it from us, please have them contact our Sales Manager at phil.lacefield@paizo.com.

Since I chose to take my subscription credits as store merchandise credit instead of Pathfinder subscriptions, I got charged for my first Pathfinder issue yesterday, but the charge was only for $13.99. Are you going to charge $4.00 for shipping later on when it actually ships? That seems a little inefficient....

Paizo Employee Senior Software Developer

No, that was a bug which I spent all day yesterday tracking down. Your card should not have been charged. We are going to be refunding your credit card this afternoon. You'll get an email when that happens.

It wasn't a big deal either case, just seemd a bit odd to me. Thank you anyway!!! :)

Henning, the truth of the matter is, in all matters, not just matters of Dungeoncraft, so to speak, I wish more people had your attitude.

I might change my mind in the future but for me the $4 dollar shipping kept me from doing the month to month subscription. I am anticipating that Pathfinder will be a much greater value than Dragon and Dungeon combined but I am the type of person that likes to simply subscribe and not have to think about it again for a year (or maybe 6-months).

Hopefully you guys can add some new options in the near future.

Craig:

You do realize that what you describe is EXACTLY the beauty of month to month subscriptions. You never need to worry about them again until you want to. Basically, once you sign up, you will get charged issue by issue until you say "stop." No need to worry about renewing. No need to budget the whole shebang in one fell swoop. You pay as you go and never need to worry about missing an issue.

Whoa, that $4 a month ($48 a year!) shipping really stings. It pretty well offsets the savings of the on-going subscription. Maybe I'll see the first two books and decide it's worth it... but for now it sure put the breaks on signing up month-to-month.

I just got my March shipment with 5 books + Harrow yesterday here in Denmark with an additional 25% VAT + some zoll.... but more importantly, the import post office has increased its handling fee for EACH package above a value of 13 us$ to 30 us$.... absolutely crazy. So I got to pay some 25 us$ in vat+zoll combined and and the additional 30$ in handling fee just to be able to recieve my 86 dollar Paizo package (including p&p)!??!?!

It is a crazy world ;-/

Have you tried Amazon? I know amazon.co.uk carry at least the monthly Pathfinder APs, and the price is about the same as Paizo's subscription rate (although obviously you don't get the Pathfinder Advantage discount on everything else!) If shipping from inside the EU dodges all those fees, it should work out a *lot* cheaper...

That's where I first got into Pathfinder via #1, and also managed to get hold of the elusive #2 just a week or so ago.

(For the UK there is no VAT on books, and Customs don't charge any fees at all on packages less than a certain value, so I still have my subscriptions.)

Cheers,
Tim.

Due to the low dollar. A single issue of pathfinder will fall below the 80 dkr. barrier where its tollfree.

But once the dollar price increases a pathfinder subscription is just out of the question. Really, really sad. I hate Post Danmark.

You are right Tim, it would be much cheaper. I just like ordering directly from the friendly people at Paizo :-) And the discount you mention AND the subscriber tag of course!!

It was not meant as a rant towards Paizo at all, but more a statement as to how increadiable expensive things are to import into Denmark these days and the crazy fee demanded by the Danish post system....
