What part of Pathfinder do you want to know more about?

And should this be a multiple-choice poll?

I kinda want to know a little more about the terminology. Are ecological investigations the new version of the ecology articles? Will there be pre-generated characters for every path?

Maybe my answer is yes, all of the above.

I'm in it for the campaign setting, mostly. I love new worlds!

Everything concerning our new AP is of interest to me, but the follwing the most:

Adventures
New world
Bestiary
Deities and villains appendices
Character development appendices
Pathfinder's Journal
How to contribute

But which I voted for is...

Wait isn't this a secret poll after all?

Damn lawyers, checkin' out the fine print! ;)

And I choose World Setting. I like to know where I am in general before arguing specifics.

What is "production values" per se??

Low production values: Cheesey art, grammatical errors, typos, thin paper, lousy maps.

High production values: What you've come to expect from Paizo. :-)

All of the above. I doubt I will contribute more thatn my money, but I would like the option.

Also, What about a book of side adventures? Something that cna be added anywhere. I would pay extra for something like that.

This needs to be multiple choice, limit 3.

Lilith wrote:

maybe four! =p

but... stuff I'm interested in:

Adventures.
How to Contribute.
Deities and villians / New World (it's really all the same to me).
Bestiary. Because more critters are awesome.

Paizo Employee Senior Software Developer

OK, I've made the poll multiple choice. Will take some time before the radio buttons change to checkboxes though.

For me it would be the beastiary

Sovereign Court

I'm definitely interested in finding out how to submit, what I can submit and what that entire process will be like.

And while I understand that you definitely want monsters for starters, I hope that you will in the future expand the sorts of submissions we can make, since I had just rediscovered the magazines, and would like to get back to writing. Even if it means I just get a start on my pile of rejection letters.

I'm most interested in what kinds of pantheon and archenemies we'll be seeing when Pathfinder starts hitting us monthly. If they can do the things they do/did with someone else's Greyhawk vision, what will they be able to do when allowed to start from scratch? It's like a top-notch cook getting his or her own restaurant after years of service being the industry's best.

I see neither check boxes or radio buttons.

Liberty's Edge

I wanna hear about the new world.

And leprechauns.

While probably not the thing I'm really most interested in hearing more about, I'm curious about the pricing and content. I'm assuming that at the currently listed asking price that means its 96 pages with no ads? If a full adventure path is going to run 12 issues at $19.99 each, I'd be really annoyed if any of the the pages were going towards ad space.

You are correct, sir. Paizo staffers have already confirmed that the book will be ad-free (with the exception of maybe a page or two at the back to advertise other Paizo products).

Yeah, I just found that in one of the other threads, but thanks for the confirmation. It sounds like something I'd be interested in picking up, except I probably won't have a chance to use the material for a long while considering I just started the Age of Worms path with my group a month ago.

My vote is the new gods. . . but why are gods and villians lumped together in the poll?

I what to know more about the World it is set in. If it is any good, I plan on making the jump across from Eberron, and then I don't need to buy any more books from Wizrds ever again. YAY!!

PS How do I actually vote in the poll??

My vote is for Adventures, New World, and Production Values.

Adventures because that's what I'm getting Pathfinder for!

New World, mainly because I'm very curious as to how hard will it be to convert to my world, or even if I can make it another continent in my world without upsetting the existing milieu.

Production Values, simply because that's what I expect from Paizo. This isn't Bob writing a campaign setting in the basement when he has time between his "real" job and the family. These are professionals, and I expect that in the writing style and presentation.

I have no doubt about points 1 and 3, those are non-issues really--I know their work, they have my money--; but I'm crossing my fingers for 2.

It should be a multiple-choice poll, yes. I subscribed to Pathfinder and am recruiting on EN World for a PbP game to start August 2007. I'd love information for my players on character generation and information for me on the campaign setting.

Thanks for this thread!

Will Paizo be distributing this magazine to Britain from the first issue, and can you provide a list of British companies where i could get it?

How many adventures will appear in each issue?

Will said adventures be aimed at low-middle-high PCs (as with the current content of Dungeon?)

Many thanks - Mattaus

I want to know about everything...

If I'm going to take up a new campaign in a new world, I really want two things:

1. A very brief gazeteer. I'm willing to wait on a complex one. This would include a map.

2. In the corner give us an image of the planet as a whole, in case we want to f*%k around in off map regions.

So, how about a downloadable map, not as big as the poster map that will come later but still readable, so that DM's can prepare, and players can exercise a little choice as to where their players come from....

Hey wait a minute. Paizo's executives all play.... we don't need to tell them this, do we?

Gah, do as you will.

Amen to all this. I would actually buy products for an official Paizo setting. It's just the dungeons I could care less about--the world itself looks to be fantastic and I'm really interested to find out more about it. What I want right up front is a Gazetteer the likes of the old pamphlet-style Greyhawk Gazetteer. For now what I want is gods and cities/kingdoms.

"How to contribute."

I know Paizo will do fine telling us all the little goodies about the world. I'm a semi-patient person. What I'd really like to know is how one can contribute to the Pathfinder/GameMastery lines.

I want this, too! If nothing else, just because, even if your PCs never venture off the "main" continent, it is always embarassing to answer that you don't really know when asked basic questions like if the world is mostly land or water...

Will Paizo be licensing Varisia? Will we see other publishers using this setting? How much such latitude will exist under the OGL?

Hey! You stole my face!

I voted for the gods, mainly because the difference between playing a cleric as a walking band aid and playing a cleric as a character is knowing something about why they follow the path they follow, what they oppose, what motivates them, etc.

"Production values". I trust paizo has the skill and talent to get the content right, I'm less certain about the rest.

i want it all cant wait on my shiny new books i want them all

I want to know everything as well. I would like to know what the new Paizo website will look like after the mags finish. Will it change much (beside in the obvious ways)?

World info, baby! (And please give us a sneak peak at the map?!)

Why can't I vote in the poll?

They neglected to mention the poll is on the left side under the browse and shop boxes. It is entitles Paizo Poll

I for one want to know EVERYTHING.

Especially how much of the wotc books will be used in it. Such as: will the NPCs have prestige classes or other base classes from books like the "Complete" line?

Dark Archive

Who will be the chief cartographer for this huge venture?

I want to know everything!

Especially, if Part 6 is the last one with RISE OF THE RUNELORDS ending at around level 15.
Or will there be more, which you just haven't advertised yet?!

Pathfinder will be available through the Esdevium distribution company, which I believe is the largest game distributor in Britain. I suspect it will also be sold to other game distributors there, but I'll leave the specifics to our sales guy. It wouldn't hurt to bug your game store manager so that he asks for it from his sales rep, though. The more "buzz" like that we can develop for this product, the more likely it will be successful.

In fact, if every poster to this thread could make a point to ask their retailer if they'll be carrying Pathfinder, it would be most helpful.

Pathfinder will focus on one large (50 pages or so) adventure that makes up one sixth of a complete campaign (while still remaining useful as a one-shot). We haven't ruled out mini-adventures in the back once in a while, but most volumes will contain a single adventure that advances your characters 2-3 levels. The first Adventure Path, Rise of the Runelords, will take your character to about 15th level. We haven't ruled out high-level stuff, but a better source for that will be the GameMastery Modules.

Cool idea.

That's certainly worth considering. The Pathfinder Player's Guide, by the way, will have lots of suggestions for character backgrounds. You'll definitely want to give that a look.

The current plan is to leave all of the rules and mechanics open, but the characters, places, background, etc. will be proprietary "closed" content. We haven't considered licensing the setting to other companies, but it's certainly a good idea.

I've been tempted to carve off a country and let Necromancer develop it, though, and we're certainly going to "reserve" at least one major country for player development via an organized play program similar to a "Living" campaign, but that's probably at least a year off.

The model we've been considering is "Red Hand of Doom." The production values in terms of cover stock and paper will be at least up to that standard, and our hopes are that they'll be better.

They will not. Pathfinder is not an officially licensed Dungeons & Dragons product, so it will be based on the "SRD" (essentially the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, Monster Manual, Epic Level Handbook, Deities & Demigods, and the Expanded Psionics Handbook plus some "variant rules" from Unearthed Arcana and a couple of monsters).

We're certainly capable of creating flavorful, exciting new rules and prestige classes, though, so I don't think this will have much of an impact on Pathfinder's quality relative to Dungeon.

Pathfinder is open-ended, and the flagship of our GameMastery line. We hope to produce 100 or more, in the years to come.
