No, not French. It's, simply put, a game about gladiatorial competition. Heard about it a number of times on a podcast and just wondered if anyone out there had played it. Looks like the answer to that question is a resounding "NO".

I believe the word is Greek, and one of the 1st words in Homer's Illiad, talking about the "wrath of Achilles".

We get the word "agony" from it, if I'm not mistaken.

I have the game but not played it yet. Looks promising for some short campaigns.

Very interactive between the pc's and ensuring your buff Greek outdoes everyone else, mostly in the name of your God

Oil yourself up beforehand and talk like someone from 300 and you are on your way

I like the abstract combat positioning, and the combat system in general fits well

Try a one shot and see how you get on.

Agon means something like "contest", IIRC. A rule-bound competition of some sort. In theory of games, it's the word used for most sports, as opposed to Alea (games of chance), Ludus (things like riding roller-coasters and the like) and Mimicry (games with an element of acting).
