They look like young people living in 1968. Their music is pretty much not Summer of Love inspired ;-)

A sure sign of my creeping middle-agedness is that I only recognize, like, 15 of those artists and I only know, like three of those songs.

And, in all seriousness, The Stooges weren't really hippies.

My hipster credentials have dropped dramatically since I moved back to New Hampshire, as you might be able to imagine. Also, going from working in downtown Boston used record stores to the early morning shifts at UPS hasn't helped expose me to new music, either.

I don't know. I just hang out with a lot of people who fit the bill (for all I rant about hipsters, I sure do have a lot of PBR drinking, "ironic" beard having, scooter riding friends). And they listen to a lot of non-mainstream stuff, so I get exposed.

And, thanks! I love your lists as well, they give me new stuff to check out :0)

Anyone else here listen to Skinny Puppy?

The Buzzcocks are tied for first with The Clash as my favorite British punk band. My friend bought me tickets to go see them and we stopped by the company Christmas party (not UPS!) for free drinks before we went. I got so f&%~ing trashed we never made it to the show, but I got called into the office the following Monday. The warehouse manager had a long talk with me about the company's detox programs. Hee hee!
