EDIT: Next time I'll link the ones where she's playing a ukelele!
Saw this and immediately thought of Mr. Shiny.

Through the power of modern technology, I can be listening to college radio stations one minute, and then watching the video the next!
Tuneyards (or however they do it)--"Gangsta"
When I was listening to it, I assumed it was a female African chorus over some funky beats. Imagine my surprise!

I think you're confusing hipster with nerd, but thank you.
Hipsters are awesome! The nice ones, that is. Those young punks on the East Coast with their snobbiness and eternally upturned noses are no friends of mine.
As for my recent habits:

Okay, that kind of freaked me out. But it reminded me of this.
What's up with South African rap videos?

I actually only know that one song. I heard the live studio performance on the radio and thought they were legit African music. I'll pick up that cd someday soon, though.
It inspired me to pick a bunch of my African stuff out, though.
Fela--"Water No Get Enemy" which is from his Expensive S! album (see above somewhere).
So, I never really listened to what he's saying, but I guess the story goes that the military were trying to arrest him and they planted a joint on him. Being Fela motherf*+$ing Kuti, he promptly swallowed it. The soldiers were all like "aha! we've got him" and held him all night to collect his stool sample in the morning. Because Fela was a man of the people (and, I suspect, because the troops weren't too professional), he was able to swap his poop with some other dude's and they had to let him go!
It's true.
Mahmoud Ahmed--"Ere Mela Mela" I don't really know anything about this guy except that he's from Ethiopia and he kicks ass!
