A great song, with one of the cheesiest (intentionally, I'm sure) music videos of all time.

I don't know, Bruce can get pretty cheesy sometimes.

Aretha Franklin's Never Loved a Man the Way That I Love You (or whatever it's called) is one of the greatest albums ev-ah! but I've got to give it you up for the Original Soul Brother!!!!

Oh god, I wonder if there's a Springsteen/Shatner duet out there. I know there's a Shatner/Rollins duet and a Springsteen/Ness duet out there, so it's within the realm of possibility.

And speaking of odd collaborations...

Liberty's Edge

Tell me, where do you go when your money's all gone?
When your friends are all gone? When your love is all gone?
No right turns, always seem to be wrong
All goes bad, it's so hard to be strong
It's an uphill battle I don't think I can win
I try to do right but I'm surrounded by sin
Say, he's a better man, don't compare me to him
I've climbed the highest tree, now I'm stuck on a limb

I got so many problems (I got so many problems)
And they weigh on my mind (And they weigh on my mind, now)
I don't solve 'em, no, I just cause them (I don't solve 'em I just cause 'em)
And they weigh on my mind (And they weigh on my mind now)

I look for guiding light, but the bulbs they all burned out
Got up to the door and the lights they all turned out
Said they couldn't teach me so I guess I'm all learned out
Saw my soul die, didn't fly, it just squirmed out
In the blink of an eye I turned my home to a house
I know what to say but no words will come out
My time's almost up, I don't have any doubts
I said my time is almost up and I don't have any doubts

I'm gonna hold on as long as I can here
And my American dream, I have some doubts there
I'm gonna hold on as long as I can here
And my American dream, I have some doubts there
And I don't wanna fight here

I actually only know that one song. I heard the live studio performance on the radio and thought they were legit African music. I'll pick up that cd someday soon, though.

It inspired me to pick a bunch of my African stuff out, though.

Fela--"Water No Get Enemy" which is from his Expensive S*** album (see above somewhere).

So, I never really listened to what he's saying, but I guess the story goes that the military were trying to arrest him and they planted a joint on him. Being Fela motherf&%@ing Kuti, he promptly swallowed it. The soldiers were all like "aha! we've got him" and held him all night to collect his stool sample in the morning. Because Fela was a man of the people (and, I suspect, because the troops weren't too professional), he was able to swap his poop with some other dude's and they had to let him go!

It's true.

Mahmoud Ahmed--"Ere Mela Mela" I don't really know anything about this guy except that he's from Ethiopia and he kicks ass!

Liberty's Edge

Fela Kutis is indeed kickass. I think I've heard one or two other tUnE-yArDs tunes but I can't remember them right now/
