So, I really like my job. It's great. I get paid to hang out on the computer and sometimes play with antigues.

But.

I hate having to compromise on what we listen to. Lots of somafm.com, which gets old after a while.

We're currently listening to Ultramarine Blue "Chiral".

Sorta like two of my jobs. Depending on day of the week and season, I either get to hang out on the computer and sometimes play with ancient electronics, hang out on the computer and sometimes play with old books, or not get to use the computer at all and get to play with poisonous plants.

I've actually met them outside of an art gallery opening in New York almost two years ago. They were really cool and they've made a lot of good stuff.

Keith Flint from the Prodigy once got a long stringy length of saliva all over my face and another time I accidently licked Gavin Rossdale during a stage invasion at a Bush gig!

OO OO OO! 'Let's Go Crazy' by Refused just popped up on my playlist!

Dearly beloved,
We are gathered here today to get through this thing called life,
And the word life, it means forever, and that's a mighty long time,
But I mean to tell you that there's something else--
The afterworld.

A place of neverending happiness, where you can always see the sun, day or night,
And we call the people of the hills, everyone, thinking everyone will be alright.
Asking how much of their time is spent, asking how much is on their mind,
Because, in this light, things are much harder in the afterworld, and this time, you're on the line.

And ever if you're a victim,
You're crazy, as you asked for it.

...

Let's go crazy!
Let's get drunk!
Let's go!

Pink Floyd, currently 'One of These Days'.

Morrissey: Irish Blood, English Heart.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKoS5X4SMrY

Irish blood, English heart, This I'm made of
There is no one on earth I'm afraid of
And no regime can buy or sell me

I've been dreaming of a time when
To be English is not to be baneful
To be standing by the flag not feeling shameful, Racist or partial

Irish blood, English heart, This I'm made of
There is no one on earth I'm afraid of
And I will die with both of my hands untied

I've been dreaming of a time when
The English are sick to death of Labour, And Tories
And spit upon the name Oliver Cromwell
And denounce this royal line that still salute him,
And will salute him forever.

Morrissey: Everyday is like Sunday.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IbJQ4YAPRo&mode=related&search=

Trudging slowly over wet sand
Back to the bench where your clothes were stolen
This is the coastal town
That they forgot to close down
Armageddon - come armageddon!
Come, armageddon! come!

Everyday is like sunday
Everyday is silent and grey

Hide on the promenade
Etch a postcard :
How I dearly wish I was not here
In the seaside town
...that they forgot to bomb
Come, come, come - nuclear bomb

Everyday is like sunday
Everyday is silent and grey

Trudging back over pebbles and sand
And a strange dust lands on your hands
(and on your face...)
(on your face ...)
(on your face ...)
(on your face ...)

Everyday is like sunday
Win yourself a cheap tray
Share some greased tea with me
Everyday is silent and grey

Morrissey: America is not the World.

America your head's too big, Because America, Your belly's too big
And I love you, I just wish you'd stay where you is

In America, The land of the free, they said, And of opportunity, In a just and a truthful way
But where the president, Is never black, female or gay, And until that day
You've got nothing to say to me, To help me believe

In America, It brought you the hamburger, Well America you know where, You can shove your hamburger
And don't you wonder, Why in Estonia they say, Hey you, Big fat pig
You fat pig, You fat pig

Steely Blue eyes with no love in them, Scan The World,
And a humourless smile, With no warmth within, Greets the world
And I, I have got nothing, To offer you
No-no-no-no-no
Just this heart deep and true, Which you say you don't need

See with your eyes, Touch with your hands, please, Hear through your ears, Know in your soul, please
For haven't you me with you now?
And I love you, I love you, I love you, And I love you, I love you, I love you

I don't know which came along first this morning, Morrissey on my ipod or this black mood of mine?

Make fun of me, I deserve it.

I'm obsessed with the new Fergie song "Big Girls Don't Cry"

Actually, you do not deserve ridicule - instead, you need professional help. Psychotherapy won't cut it here, so I'm thinking full-blown exorcism. And lots and lots of AC/DC to help you recover afterwards.

I am almost always listening to the radio. Either in the office or at home. The Boogles told me some years ago that video killed the radio but I still have the phylactery of The Radio here with me. And as long as that is not deststroyed radio will live on *g*

Green Day, currently 'Warning'. The vagely sad thing is that I know the whole song by heart, along with most of the other songs on International Superhits. Mabye I should listen to something else for awhile, like Pink Floyd. Oh wait! I know most of the songs on there by heart too! I need help...

My wife started listening to some Fergie songs (including "Fergalicious") the other day, rather loudly, and I threatened divorce if she didn't stop.

Anyone else on here ever heard of a group called 'Flogging Molly' (Celtic Rock, sort of punk, mabye). Right now I'm listening to their 'Drunken Lullabies'. They're pretty good.

Yep! Totally love em. Lead singer used to be in Fastway (remember Trick or Treat movie with Gene Simmons and Ozzy?). "Whats Left of the Flag" is me fav off that one, but title track, "Rebels of Sacred Heart", and "May the Living be Dead" are all good ones.

"Likes of You Again" and "Salty Dog" also good ones off "Swagger" cd.

The Tossers are another pretty cool Irish/punk band.

Guinness all around! OI! OI! OI!

So far 'The Kilburn High Road', 'Rebels of the Sacred Heart' 'Drunken Lullabies' and 'Death Valley Queen' are my favorites. I only have one of their CDs so far. It makes me sad.

More of a Dropkick Murphys fan myself, but Floggong Molly and the Tossers are pretty good, too.

I like Flogging Molly as well. In fact, I think I like them a little better than the Murphys. Flogging is a little more rock and a little less punk. The Murphys are pretty much just punk. Nothing wrong with that, I just happen to prefer less punk and more rock in my 'punk rock.' Haven't heard of the Tossers before. Maybe I'll check 'em out.

I love the crap out of Bad Religion and Black Flag, however.

Enter Shikari!

Because I'm too cool for school and I like vinyl, I jumped up and down with joy when I found a vinyl re-release of Damaged last year. Then I let a friend borrow it and I haven't seen it since. I wanna hear "TV Party"!! Such a good album. And then there was the Futurama episode where they sang that song over the credits, replacing the tv shows with their futuristic equivalents. And, of course, I love the Raymond Pettibon album covers.

Happy Friday. I just found this link --> here for those of you that like music and Home Star Runner. If you know about Home Star Runner at all, you should enjoy this. If you don't know about Home Star Runner, I have just one word for you -- TROGDOR!!!

This sunny afternoon I'm listening to Idlewild after having weird dreams with their music playing in the background of my mind all morning. :)

Whatever happened to the Cranberries?

Currently playing... Megadeth "United Abominations."

Also loaded in the stereo: Sirenia "Sirenian Shores," Ozzy Osbourne "Black Rain" and Therion "Gothic Kabbalah" (both discs).

Ahh, happy memories!

I'm in the cold basement at work listening to my last.fm station, which seems to be on a Weezer kick. Odd...

Is that any good at all? I've heard some rather mixed reviews - the general drift has been that the music is pretty good, but that Dave has gone more than a little loopy after 9/11 and that the lyrics reflect that. As a big 'Deth fan, I really hope it is great, but I'm far from certain that it will be...

Lessee, in the last little bit here,

Guns-n-Roses
Bon Jovi
Poison
Tesla
Aerosmith

Can you tell it's an 80s revival? :)
Welcome to Rhapsody music channels.

I'm listening to something in my mind. Something that was played many times at work today and then the chorus was repeated again and again and again. I don't even know what its called or who its by but the chorus goes something like "I'm so lucky lucky. I'm so lucky lucky" Its driving me insane!

It's called "Lucky" by the band Lucky Twice.

Thanks for the band name. But STILL IT TORMENTS ME! AGGHHH!!!

Liberty's Edge

Yes, and now I can't get it out of my mind, either.

This calls for some John Carpenter music, an alchemical amalgam of atonal atrocity... maybe...yes...
Escape From New York should neutralize "Lucky" very nicely...

Grand Lodge

In the player today:

Motorhead - "On your feet or on your knees"
Testament - "Do not resuscitate"
Overkill - "Hymn 43" (Jethro Tull cover)
Opeth - "Moonlapse vertigo"
Mickey 3D - "Il faut que tu respires"
Thee Michelle Gun Elephant - "The birdmen"

ITS STILL THERE!!! IT WON'T GO AWAY! I'm going to go stab myself with something now.

Overall it's a pretty good album. The music is pretty much standard Megadeth, firmly in the vein of "The System has Failed" with some reminders of "Rust in Peace." Some of the solos irritate me, but oh well... The album is definitely better than anything that came out during the "Youthanasia"/"Cryptic Writings"/ "Risk"/"The World Needs a Hero" period. I personally would have scrapped the remake of "A tout le monde," which is now a cheesy-sounding duet with the lead vocalist from Lacuna Coil... yech...

As far as the lyrics go... I used to think of Mustaine as having left wing political stripes, but this album seems to be all over the map in terms of political tendencies... It's clear that he's anti-UN. I wonder if some of the other lyrics, e.g., Amerikhastan, where he sings about Califarabia and New Yorqatar, and of coming after "Jihad Joe," are supposed to be taken as tongue-in-cheek/sarcastic, or...? It's hard to tell. Overall, it seems this album is anti-Washington, anti-UN, and anti-Muslim-extremist (but I may be misinterpreting certain songs). At the very least, the lyrics are provocative, controversial, and make for an interesting exercise in self-reflection.

If you end up getting it, I'd love to hear your take on the lyrics...
