New stuff from them...not my favorite vocals (except La Roux-she's great!), great musically, but I LOVE the video.

Ha! Was listening to a lot of Leadbelly last night, and some Woody Guthrie.

By coincidence my random list just had some Leadbelly and Guthrie a few hours ago.
Now it's Karan Casey

Sovereign Court

UXO which is a collaboration from a member of Unsane and Steve Austin from Today is the Day.

Deep Purple - Speed King

Tonight is a poker game at my friend's house...we Spotify either Hugo's version of Jay-Z or Toots and the Maytals covering the Kingsmen and let the computer pick the next couple hours of music...

One time, as the game was winding down about 200 am, Robin Trower's Bridge of Sighs somehow came up...and it felt like it lasted hours. Trance-like, we all folded as the song faded out and we all left.

Skarlett Riot: Villain

Witchfinder General - Death Penalty

Music's great, but lyrics are a bit...

Apart from the line 'I'll take your wenches and lie them on benches', obviously.

Fela Kuti--"Army Arrangement"

I was driving around with the Nigerian Princess in the passenger seat, listening to Fela. She's pretty immersed in intersectional feminism, so I thought I'd be provocative and start talking about his 200+ wives. She didn't take the bait; simply replied, "My dad listens to him."

Poor Fela. He's been reduced to Nigerian dad rock!

Huh, I guess he only had 27 wives.

Mrs. Gersen just burned me that CD -- "I think you'd really like this bulimic crack whore!" -- and that's the song that grabbed me. Holy crap, that is one bad-ass song.

I'm sad to say that I wasn't as impressed with the Ghostface Killah remix; I really wanted to like it, but just went back to the Winehouse solo.

Oddly enough, I also first received a copy of Back to Black as a burned CD-R from a woman.

A band that I generally can't stand has released two solid singles in the last two months. Granted, one's a cover song, but I'm not sure if I'm impressed, pissed off, or both. The singer's vocals still sound like Phil Collins crossed with a lawn mower, but, credit where credit's due...
