1) Good to see that you folks are taking a page from Monte and Ptolus. I've already got my players just drooling over Ptolus because of the players guides.
2) What, no love for those of us who just can't afford to go to gencon? I'll be wanting this Player's guide. will it be available "for a small fee" online to current dungeon & dragon subscribers?

I think the plan is to make the Player's Guide available after Gen Con from our web store. The content will be available first to those who can get to Gen Con, but shortly thereafter should be available to everyone. I wrote and developed and helped edit it... but after that I'm kinda unclear on the exact details.
Of coruse, the map itself will be reproduced as a 4-panel poster map in issue #139 of Dungeon, so you won't miss out on that even if you don't get a copy of the Player's Guide. But if you want to expand the adventures beyond what appears in Dungeon, the Player's Guide will be pretty handy for DMs as well.

Hm, will there be issues of the Player's Guide shipped to europe, for FLGS and non-subscribers? I'm reading the mags every month for years now and i never subscribed because my FLGS has it much, much earlier than the subscribers get them. I'm loyal to the magazines and i'd be sad if my wish to get the issues asap would prevent me from getting the PG.

Sweet. long as I can buy at least one copy I'm happy. Player's guides are a really useful resource for everyone - DMs and Players alike.

Poster map. oooh I'm drooling already.

The six initial affiliations are each given a short paragraph of information in the Player's Guide, but we didn't have enough room to go into more detail; issue #348 of Dragon will have the details on them.
As for the other questions, I don't have exact answers but I'm 98% sure that you'll be able to renew or extend existing subscriptions at Gen Con and therefore qualify for the free player's guide. I'm not sure what the "small fee" will be for those who just want to buy it, alas.

Awesome. Just too awesome. Can't wait for Gen Con.

The small fee, unless something changes, will be $5. We're selling them at the show, and also as an in-bag promotion to active US military folks who buy the magazine in the field. Any leftovers will be available at paizo.com, but we'll also be making the whole file a free download about a month after the convention.

Okay . . . so curse my stupidity, but let me re-state this to make sure I understand properly.
The three options for the majority of the populous are as follows:
1. Purchase hard-copy at Gen-con
2. Order hard-copy from paizo.com after Gen Con IF there are left over copies from Gen Con.
3. Wait a month or so and get free download from paizo.com
Assuming that I have that right, and knowing that 1. is not an option for me, I definately hope there's some left over for purchase.

So I was right, and you guys really are taking a page from Ptolus & Monte.
That is incredibly awesome! I hope more publishers start getting the idea that they can promote sales with small free players guides and product support.
Kudos, Paizo!

To be a bit more accurate:
1. Get printed copy free with subscription or renewal at Gen Con.
2. Purchase printed copy at Gen Con
3. Order printed copy from paizo.com after Gen Con IF there are leftover copies from Gen Con.
4. Wait a month or so and get free download from paizo.com
(and, I guess, to be complete:
5. Join the US military and get a printed copy free with purchase of a specific issue at the PX.)

Hmm . . . curse options 1, 2, and 5 being not available to me. Well, I guess 3, and 4 aren't bad.
