or does this summer movie season seem kind of kobold-weak?
Pirates of the Caribbean II looks like about it.
Everything else looks like a remake.
Heck, PotC II looks like a remake.
Oh well, there's always football season. Go Gators!

I agree the season looks rather sad. I mean, some of the movies sounded like they would be good, but turned out to be a waste of time and money. As for Pirates of the Caribeean II, it does look like it could be good, but I worry they'll have ruined it in their attempt to rush a money-making sequal. *fingers crossed* here's hoping... of course, I'm a bit sad that I won't be able to see it until at least the end of July since I'll be away when it comes out (though, at least I'll know what everyone else thought about it by then).

What, you aren't excited about Superman Returns being a sequel to Superman II instead of a new movie? Or that the actor playing Superman really is just playing Christopher Reeves playing Superman? Or that we get the "Gene Hackman-esque" incompetent Lex Luthor instead of the uber-villain, I don't need any stinking powers, I used to be the president Lex that we had in the comics?

Wait, you didn't mention Superman, did you?

Ever since I heard about that Nicholas Cage Superman movie directed by Tim Burton that's never gonna happen, I've wanted to find a dimensional gate device and go to the parallel earth where that move was made; other than that I don't think Hollywood has a chance in hell to do anything with the franchise. Maybe if they could get Ed Norton to play Superman I'd see it, other than that I just don't care any more.

Ooh. Ed Norton would make a good supes. I'd rather have Brian Singer directing than Tim Burton. I used to like Tim Burton, but ever since Batman Returns his movies have been too over the top phony looking. Singer did amazing things with the first two x-men movies, so I have some small measure of faith that this movie will be decent.

However, it wouldn't have hurt them to get someone to play superman that actually looks like he can bench 50lbs. He's supposed to be a house, not a scrawny girl-boy in tights.

When I heard that Brian Singer watched every episode of the 90s X-Men cartoon to get a feel for the characters, I felt that at least he was willing to do the research, and when he was pegged to do Superman, I was hoping he would do something similar, since the 90s Superman animated series was awesome. Unfortunately, it seems more like its going to be homage to Christopher Reeves then its own movie (sorry, I liked him as Superman, but the franchise has to move on).

Batman Begins gave me a glimmer of hope, especially with plot points right out of Detective Comics 0 and Ra's al Ghul for a villain. I figured mining the comics for inspiration would be a standard.

I could be wrong, and I hope I am, but I am almost wishing for Kevin Smith's late, unlamented giant robot spiders and polar bear fights . . . okay, they weren't Kevin Smith's, but he was the one that broke the story on them . . .

Ed Norton could eat corn flakes for two hours and you'd be entertained. The Italian Job has to be the movie where I was really rooting for the bad guy to win most of all(Marky Mark? Neeeyah...).

I'll tell you who would make a weird Superman, though. That big guy from Seinfeld that went out with Elaine, then he did the Tick's voice, and Brock Sampson. he should be Shazam or something.
