Warlock attempting to escape Sodden Hold

Age of Worms Adventure Path

Hello, IMC two fighters and a warlock are locked up in Sodden Hold, and I want to think of the possible ways for them to escape. They are all manacled so am I right in assuming that warlocks cannot cast invocations if their hands are not free? Also is there a feat that allows warlocks to cast their invocations without movement/sound? I have looked through the complete arcane and I do not think this option is available to the warlock, but I just want to make sure.

I'm pretty sure their invocations are spell-like abilities, so don't require somatic components. Flee the Scene sounds like a good option.

Warlocks need somatic components to cast their invocations. I would suggest sudden extend in Complete Arcane.

Dimension door (the closest thing to flee the scene) has no somatic component, so one could reason that the spell like ability should not have one either... if you want your PCs to have a break, this is the way that I would play it.

JDillard is right that warlocks have somatic components, as listed in their class description, but you can't use Sudden X feats as they only applies to spells, not spell-like abilities. Of course, one could construct a Still Invocation feat, allowing one to cast the invocations w/o somatic components 3 times per day, if this was a major concern.

Actually I just found that on page 71 of Complete Arcane it says that the sudden feats can be used for Invocations.

This is why I love the Paizo boards. Not only will people correct you when you're wrong, but they'll do so kindly, modestly, and present you with easy-reference page numbers :).

Thanks hanexs, and sorry JDillard- it's good to learn :D

I agree -- this community is wonderful.

Usually :)

(it's just worth repeating)

No problem. With the tons of supplements 3.5 has become very complicated. Always glad to help if I'm able.
