Alright guys when can we expect to see these classics on DVD here in the states. My UK friends have them now it's our turn. Any thought to a new cartoon? Look what it's done for all the card games.

I can only think of one D&D cartoon, and I'm pretty sure it's the same one you're thinking about. Cheesy, yes, but still quite fun to watch IMHO.

I know EXACTLY what you all are talking about...

Cue carnival music.

Bobby the soon-to-be Barbarian: "Hey, look! The Dungeons and Dragons ride! Wow, neat!"
Eric the soon-to-be Cavalier: "Gimme a break."

I have searched far and wide for this official disc compilation set. Easily my favorite cartoon series for a number of reasons, I found that the best bet would be a company called Rhino who are responsible for a number of other notable nostalgic DVD releases such as the Transformer cartoon series and G.I. Joe to name a few. I got tired of waiting, especially after noting that Amazon.uk sells the Region 2 disc in England, and emailed them. This is the exact email:

Hi Rhino guys. I have GI Joe and Transformers on DVD,
thanks to you. But these are my SECOND favorite
cartoon series of all time. When are you going to put
the Dungeons and Dragons cartoons to DVD? The British
have it already....just wondering.

Loyal Rhino customer.

This was the response.

We don't have current plans for this release, but thanks for your input. I'll forward your letter to our suggestion box.

So naturally I went to ebay and found the entire bootlegged series for 20 bucks and a week later it arrived on my doorstep. Small price to pay, even if it turned out to be a scam of some sort. But I am extremely pleased with it.

I don't condone this kind of commerce, but if there is a sufficient demand for a product, there will be a supply/seller.

Thought I'd mention one more thing:

I have used an entire episode two years ago as an adventure. Midway through the adventure, one of my gamers (who isn't into fantasy roleplaying) stopped the game in its tracks midway through the adventure with the line "Hey, this adventure IS from the cartoon!" None of the other fantasy-oriented players noticed...A sly smile crept across my face, and I went on with the adventure.

I used elements from yet another episode to get the players into the Underdark. In the actual cartoon, the kids are tricked by Venger and his "cohort" Lloth. I replaced Venger with our nemesis Wardenkaan (basicly the same guy) and had Lloth make the same appearance for an unforgetable encounter at the PC's 5th level.

It won't be the last time I use the episodes, either directly or as inspiration, in campaigns.

YES!!!!!!!
