How is combat working now? It hasn't mattered before because everything was basically one shot one kill, but we're finally in what looks to be a multi-round fight. We even rolled initiative, but everything is being resolved as it's posted? If that's how it's working then cool, just want to be sure I know what's going on.

Everyone who goes before the monsters goes before, in whatever order.

Then the monsters, then everyone who goes after, ect.

I'm more or less gonna have monsters roll initative as a group and then average them, because if you actually go in a spesific initiative order of posts this tends to get really slow.

Okay so then for ease of formatting, would it help anybody else if we start prefacing our posts with something like, Round 1, block 1 - Round 1, monster block - Round 1, block 2 and wait for your monster and round resolve posts before the next block starts? Which, if I've counted everybody correctly, Xexik needs initiative and an action since he seems to be back and then it's round 2? And round 2 itself starts off with a DMPC, which is why I'm asking for clarification, because I'm really confused why that wouldn't have been part of your post, or at least another post immediately afterwards as like a round break if everybody goes before the monster and you've done the monster's action. Or does the monster have reach and that was an AoO and I'm completely lost? lmao

Also I'm generally a very orderly person so not knowing how something works bothers me and I start asking a ton of questions until it all makes sense. And I know this is your game so run it how you do and if I start to get annoying with clarification questions, just let me know :)

Generally everyone is going to have fair saves, but imo the cloak should go to Haruto. From a purely numbers game, Xixek and Lina have all good saves and Cha to saves starting at level 2, Lothar also gets Divine Grace, Azlana has all good save progression, and Hanna gets good Fort and Will and is dependent on her Dex. Haruto gets only good Will saves, and that still isn't spectacular with no need for Wisdom.

dependency on dex will go away when I start getting levels in dragon disciple. between that, mythic eldritch heritage and my magic item, I'm gonna eventually have a crazy high strength (I'm not disagreeing with you on who gets the cloak, just saying)

It's true, Haruto might just have the worst saves in the party. :D

Haruto is basically going to have lots and lots of spells. Between Oracle and Sorcerer and his Magical Tail feats he should pretty quickly get to the point where he always has something useful to cast. I'm planning on playing around with the oracular side of the Oracle, using some of his revelations and mythic path abilities to get the ability to randomly know stuff, as well.

Haruto's spell selection will run a lot more to control, buff/debuff, and some of the just plain weird spells. I'm aiming to go for spells based around Desna/the Black Buttefly, so expect dreams, travel, luck, and the stars to be referenced by the kinds of spells I pick.

Is Hanna our only character who uses spellbooks? Or does one of those Magus archetypes mean you learn spells a different way and *none* of us uses spellbooks?

Hanna still prepares magus spells from a spellbook. There's only two paizo archetypes that make the magus a spontaneous caster, one is a psychic caster and the other is a terrible archetype.

My plan for my character build is pretty boring. Paladin/Unchained Rogue the whole way, hell aside from Litany of Righteousness, I probably won't even look outside of the core rule book for spells.

I asked for a third party archetype (spiderhawk) that does the rogue/magus hybrid job better than my current one (greens ring slayer) and that, as a side effect is also spontaneous, but I accepted it when he said no, and I'm quite happy to get the bonus spellbook

I know it has been a few days since I've posted anything, but so far there hasn't really been a need. Lothar doesn't use a spellbook, has never met a drow before in his life, and hasn't noticed anything unusual with himself yet, so he's just walking along in silence, second in line to Hanna who has taken point.
