A great GM is always thinking about his campaign, scribbling down a note about a cruel trick to play on his players in one notebook while composing diabolical dungeons in another. Instead, we suggest the Campaign Workbook, a handsome 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" spiral-bound campaign journal small enough to carry with you at all times but big enough to handle all your campaign planning needs.

  • A contact list keeps all your players' addresses and phone numbers in one handy place.
  • A PC registry helps you keep track of the characters' key skill bonuses and combat information.
  • Basic campaign forms provide a place for general campaign notes and house rules.
  • A campaign calendar tracks in-game events, character birthdays, and important holidays.
  • Blank map templates allow you to sketch out your campaign world from sea to shining sea, including global, continental, and local area maps.
  • Game logs provide graph paper and lined pages for notes and drawings.
  • An NPC list tracks key characters and provides a handy place to take notes when things change during the course of play.
  • A quote log helps you record your player's best statements for posterity.

Design your deadly dungeons in the same place you track your characters' experience points!

Paizo Publishing's GameMastery™ Line is designed to help GMs run interesting games quickly and efficiently.

Return Program for GameMastery Campaign Workbook—1st Printing

A large number of copies of the original print run unintentionally used a low-quality glue in the binding, causing some books to fall apart when laid flat. To prevent this from occurring again, Paizo introduced a spiral ring bind for the 2nd printing.

Anyone wishing to return their non-spiral-bound copy and exchange it for a new spiral-bound one can follow one of two paths:

The first option is to return your defective copy online at paizo.com/returns. You'll need to create an account and fill out the e-form provided at the address above. Completion of the e-form will generate an order number. Please tear the front cover off your defective non-spiral-bound Campaign Workbook and treat it like a postcard. Legibly write your return address in the top left corner, Paizo's mailing address in the middle (see below), and affix a stamp to the top right corner. Drop it in your mailbox and Paizo will send a new spiral-bound copy and two FREE GameMastery Item Card booster packs to you by the end of March 2007. Returns are only possible while supplies last.

The second option is to return your copy at your local hobby retailer. They will be able to exchange your copy for a new one and can tear off the front cover and return it to distribution for a replacement.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Reviewer: karl schimelfening

it's cool ... but i agree with others it needs to be 10 1/2" x 8". And if i have to pay a little more ok.

Reviewer: Masika

I received this product as part of Paizo "Treasure Chest". I always thought I could use a good campaign book but as I discovered when you using pre-made materials this book ends up being redundant object.

I received a 2nd edition book that is well made but it did surprise me on how bulky and small the book was. There certainly are alot of different types of pages and I can see the use for a DM who is creating a world/campaign. I certainly did not need this as alot of the pre-made games you get do a good job tracking information and by simply purchasing a 40c feint ruled exercise pad does the job equally as well.

I can not recommend this item to anyone except the most creative DM or world/campaign builder. I would suggest to Paizo digital files of templates of the various sections be made available for purchase as it would be generally more useful than the physical book.

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar wow..exactly what i need!
Reviewer: trevor burdick

i read all the reviews and had mixed feelings about ordering this item. however, when it came, i was impressed by it. it's as advertised, a small book to jot down game ideas. granted, a full size book with more space for the NPC's would be nice, but i am really pleased by this product, and for the price you can't go wrong. the only caveat, as others have said, is the explicit reference to item cards. but that can be re-utilized to track the magic items i've given the players.

i'm thinking of ordering a couple more. my main game, which is 4e, doesn't really allow for use of this. but i'm running a campaign with my kids that's 3.5e, so this fits perfectly. i can easily throw it in my coat pocket and take it to work with me and jot down ideas for our game on the weekend.

fabulous product.

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar Good, if you have good eyes.
Reviewer: Averil

I got this out of the Treasure Chest. The text was small and blue on a white background, but that didn't bother me much because my eyesight is good. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone with bad eyesight, but other than that it's great.

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar Great for tracking information.
Reviewer: Gorgo Blues

This is an awesome resource for tracking game information. You can store all your players and PC's stats here as well as record your games in a diary type fashion. The only down side is it could be a little bigger, but besides that; it is so well designed! Well worth the cost.

Reviewer: Garshak

I just purchased a copy of the spiral bound version at my FLGS (Our House Games, MI) and like it immensely. I have no trouble with the light blue color and find the small size convenient. I do my best planning at random times at random places and the small size allows me to carry it anywhere.

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar A Godsend For The Nomad GM
Reviewer: Kassil

The complaint some others have had - small size - is an incredible boon for the GM who doesn't have time or space to pack around a large, full-sized book - whether a college student already overburdened or a member of the work force who can't spare room on the desk. The only nitpick I have with the whole design is the blatant reference to the GameMastery Item Cards, but since I can adapt that section, it isn't much of an issue.

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar Needs to be bigger.
Reviewer: CMPullen

Does anyone else wish this thing was bigger. I'd gladly pay the extra money for a hardbound copy in a full-size (12"x9") format.

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar Not a bad product, but....
Reviewer: Royas

First, it's a good idea and concept. It's nothing that you couldn't do yourself at home, but it's nice to have everything tied together in one place. The new spiral binding works well for laying the book flat without destroying it.

It could stand to be bigger. Maybe not a full 8.5x11, but as it is, it's a bit cramped. Plus it doesn't stack well with other books at its current size. The print color is the worst problem, it's very difficult to read in anything but the best light. Instead of the light blue that is now used, switch to regular black ink, and this would be a much easier product to use.

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar Nice Idea ... needs work.
Reviewer: Walker

I love the idea of the workbook.
I have to second previous comments about the color of the print text (hard to read) and size (too small ... would have liked 5.5 by 8.5 so I don't feel too cramped) and a small pocket to keep map (the world map is too small to be useful).

I admit I was surprised by its size when I saw it at my local hobby store.

Azraeus,

Don't know if anyone can help, but how 4.0 friendly is this...i've been interested in this for a while, but I'm curious on how new edition friendly this is. Also, are there plans for a newer version with a darker color ink?

Personally, I'd just like to get a PDF copy of this, so I could print out the pages I need to make my own notebook.

I have enjoyed the use of this book, but yes it could have been bigger, maybe A5 size would be better! Still a great idea and something that they could improve in a new edition. Great price for what you get though.
