An outstanding miniature and any D&D miniature collector must have. I look forward to using this in a game as a villian sometime in the future.
While I don't allow dragonriders in my games, this is an outstanding miniature. The Dragon Magazine Limited Edition version is a repaint, adding yellow-green undertone to the proximal wings, and a matching tint to the throat and belly scales, and tongue and claws. The sorcerer is dressed in a green and gold design. Includes an Epic Level stat card worth 200 points; CR 14. An outstanding deal for subscribers and nonsubscribers alike.
The Paizo repaint of this mini is much better looking than the original that came with War of the Dragon Queen. I hope Paizo does more repaints in the future.
Thanks for the cool mini, guys!
I love this thing! I just got mine in the mail today and I'm very happy with the two I ordered. I hope Paizo releases more exclusive figures or repaints like this in the future.
For the cost this is an excellent promo mini.I hope that Paizo and WotC will consider doing this for every set that comes out from now on.The only thing I would change is to allow a promo mini for each Dragon and Dungeon subscription as I get one for myself and the other for my son.Maybe they will take this into consideration in the future.
14.95 before.... 9.95 now?

I feel gipped, I ordered the first day now you can't get rid of them all so you have to sell for cheaper. I was taken.
[Paizo notes: We have not changed the price—it has always been $9.95. Dj-Chuckles' $14.95 total included his shipping charge.)
I certainly don't regret my purchase of this mini. True, the amount of use it'll get in gameplay will be minimal, but it shall always be a nice "threat" when I have it lying out before a game. The pain quality wasn't bad, a few blemishes here and there, but far from the worst I'd seen. No complaints here.
This is a good mini to have, especially for use in a D&D game where you need an intimidating villain. The repaint is nice and the dragon's wings are truly outstanding. The sorcerer, however, is pretty weak. He doesn't look nearly powerful enough to have such a mount, his legs are terribly molded and his staff, easily the best part of the sculpt, is initially bent and needs to be heated and straightened. A great idea limited by the poor work on the sorcerer.
Collectability issues aside, this is an excellent figure for only $10. The repaint seems to have really picked out the details. My only complaints are some overspray on the rider's legs turns part of the dragon green, and the rider's boots are sculpted funny. The epic stat card that came with my order is slightly crumpled in one corner. These complaints aside, I think this is an excellent value and I'd highly recommend it.

allo
i'm confused about the price of this wonderful miniature.
judging by the comments by dj-chuckles and paizo, i get the impression that the 14.95 price includes shipping. but when i add the mini to my shopping cart, it adds 3.80 for usps standard mail.
what's the deal? does the 14.95 include shipping or not?

The way I understand it.
14.95 is the usual price for the mini, which doesn't include shipping charge.
9.95 was a special price charged to Dragon and/or Dungeon subscribers, which doesn't include shipping charge. DJ-Chuckles was probably a Dragon/Dungeon subscriber when he purchased it, but a shipping charge of 5$ was added to his purchase, and he mistakenly thought he was charged 14.95 for the mini. Paizo staff replied to his complaint to point out his mistake to him.
Now, what I'm not sure is if the Pathfinder sub would replace the Dragon/Dungeon sub to get a 5$ reduction. Or if you can still take advantage of the special price if you had a Dragon/Dungeon sub before you switched to Pathfinder sub. If not, then you will have to pay the usual 14.95 and add usual shipping charge.
I hope this helps.

From the blog post when it was first made available to non subscribers:
store blog wrote:
Until our limited supply is exhausted, D&D enthusiasts everywhere can now purchase up to two of the Limited-Edition Sorcerer on Black Dragon minis for the price of $14.95 each. Dragon and Dungeon subscribers will automatically get a $5 discount applied at checkout, reflecting the previous subscriber-only price.
If you had a subscription prior to the mags going under it is still showing up as 9.95+ shipping totaling 14.95 or so (at least in my case not sure if this is correct or not) but when I am not signed in it shows up in the cart as 14.95 + shipping
