Map Pack: Village contains 18 full-color 5 x 8-inch map tiles, stunningly crafted by cartographer Corey Macourek, that unite to form a completely customizable village, including a Tavern (with back alley and stage), a General Store, a Gallows, an Apothecary shop, a Marketplace, and a Shrine.

For use with the industry’s most popular roleplaying or tabletop miniature campaigns, and useable by experienced GMs and novices alike, this product fits perfectly into any Game Master’s arsenal. It’s like a year’s worth of Maps of Mystery all in one product.

Misleading title...

This pack can't form an entire village. By overlapping, you can form a section of a village, but it won't be perfect.

What this product is good for is creating certain important areas in the village. The store that's being robbed, the gallows where an important character is about to swing, the tavern (not an inn) where the brawl breaks out, and so forth. Very useful and attractive but not the ultimate answer to your mapping needs.

Working hard or hardly working?

I was disappointed with this product and don't feel like it's worth the money. The graphics are great but nothing I can't accomplish on my own on Dunjinni. The card stock is so flimsy as to almost not deserve the name. The maps are only one sided. As noted in other reviews, they slide around (there's no practical way to secure them to a surface or even to each other)and one pack can't even be logically laid out card-to-card as a small section of village. The segmented pictures that are helpful as about the only clue to how a person should lay out the cards in the first place, also prevent the supposed versatility of said cards since a picture begins on one card and finishes on another. The inn is sadly lacking a set of ascending stairs so, what, the inn only rents two rooms - where does everyone else sleep?
I either have to work to create my own similar product or work to fix all the drawbacks of this one. So if I'm the one doing the work, why am I also forking over my hard-earned cash?
If I wanted such cheap products I could create them myself with minimal effort on my computer/printer. If I'm lazy and want to pay someone else to do it, then the product should be *better* than something homemade. This one isn't.

Cuts corners

All in all I was pleased with this product, but I can see a growing trend with GameMastery products. Just about every product seems to have some important convenience or element missing.

In this case it's the fact that there is no easy way to link the cards together and keep them from sliding around. One of the other reviews mentioned using a page sleeve, which I thought was an excellent idea. It's too bad that GameMastery didn't add this in. That's not a big deal, but it's indicative of the small details they leave out.

There's also the fact that the cards are loose once you unwrap them. Some sort of sleeve or envelope should have been used to package them to keep the cards protected and organized.

I do have to say that the artwork and usefullness of these cards outweighs the couple of minor problems. Again, overall this is good aid.

Not enough of a good thing

The thing I hate about products like this is that we have to wait months in between releases. This is an exceptional GM aid, but it leaves me wanting more, and out of frustration I will need to get other tiles from other sources.

The artwork is great, but layout can be a bit confusing, since there's no overview or guideline. I appreciate that they can be arranged in a variety of manners and are customizeable, but I would also like the option of using all of them for a large focal map.

We really need several sets like this just for a village. I'd like to see some road tiles, a jail, an inn, and maybe a few homes.

Very good product

Scale is perfect for a battle mat. Art work is great. Buildings are divided between multiple cards. I would have liked the buildings to be suitable for different layouts since they span cards, but some of the images start on one card and finish on another. Also figureing out the layout is done by lining up the image. There is niether guide nor thumblenail pictures to help.

Excellent product!

This is the cadillac of tile sets with great artwork and superb color on each tile. Worth the price for the tavern alone!

Very attractive

Just got it in the mail today! Very attractive maps, very useful product. This will help run a game on the fly. Excellent value for the money.
