Monte Cook, those two words are everything u need to know; if Monte Cook put his name on an RPG book u buy it and thats all!!!
As soon as the pdf was avalble I got it. I was inpressed by it. A couple of weeks later I got the hard cover from a hobby store. I was taken aback by the size of it but the pages are in color and printed on high grade paper. Its actuly 2 books in one a GM guide and a player guide. So if you have ten bucks at least buy the pdf you won't be disapointed.
Man, its hard to rate things like this on a five star scale. The production value to this thing is gorgeous. It looks better than any 3.5 book did, its that good.
Most of the rules changes are logical and streamline the game without changing too much too drastically, and the overall effect is a similar degree of drift as the difference between 3.0 and 3.5.
That having been said, there are still a few places where some changes seemed to be less about making the game run smoothly and more about addressing vocal segments of the gaming community (spiked chains anyone).
Overall, this is a beautiful book, and most of the changes are welcome and logical. If you were willing to give 3.5 a try after 3.0, this is probably a more logical and more streamlined change than that changeover was.
Excellent work! I almost gave up on role-playing a couple of years ago with anything d20. The characters and stories were laborious and I felt like the NPCs were boring. Paizo was introduced to me by a friend and I am very thankful. The material has been consistently good, but this Core book takes the cake!! This book is the climax of the creative worth or Paizo. Paizo is the Chik-fil-e of role-play...they didn't create the RPG, just the RPG sandwich of greatness that we all like to sink our teeth into. Thanks, Paizo, for doing it again! Keep up the great work!
When I heard Paizo was revising 3.5 all I could think was "I know they'll do this right." and they didn't disappoint. I congratulate all of you on a fine product and keeping my tons of 3.5 books usable.
This is a great product, it really got me interested in playing RPG's again. I love the revamp to the skills and classes. And the new feats are great, Catch Off Guard has huge ground for hilarity value alone in a campaign.
5 stars!

Ever got worked over how certain things work in 3.5? This book is the answer to your prayers! It covers everything that you need to know and some more! Highly recommended!
I'm a devoted user of Ptolus, and the .pdf for that book has been the gaming benchmark imo - great bookmarks are so important.
THIS pdf actually goes one better, with thorough hyperlinks for every gaming term I noticed throughout every entry. Even if you are using the one-chapter-per-file version of the book, it will open the appropriate file if you look up, for example, "sickened" while perusing Paladin mercies.
This is a ridiculously useful pdf if you DM by laptop.
Having just done an initial pass through the book I can only say one thing: wow!
I like the production values, the content.... I like everything, it totally deserves its 5 stars.
First off this book is a monster. Over 500 pages of joy. This book packs in everything you would ever need to run a game. It is printed on beautiful paper, and the ink does not smear. The pictures our amazing. Each one could be a story unto itself. Having played a few games under my belt the changes I like the most our to the classes. Each class got revamped and got little things added.
I Love this book and I love this game.
Plus worst comes to worst it will kill most cockroaches for you.

Thank you Paizo! You have made an old (style) gamer very happy today! I was dreading the possibility of me having to get out of fantasy roleplaying altogether once i ran out of the published material I had (have no real interest in learning a whole new system). You have just saved my game and ensured a very loyal customer for years to come. I look forward to the new system and have just placed an order for the new book!

This is just too awesome. I saw the announcement after coming home from gaming last night and was thrilled. Even more excited this morning! I've preordered this and the beta hardcopy as well.
Good luck Paizo!
