With the exception of the "Dungeon" flipmat that was released several years ago when the line was still owned by Steel Squire, I have (or soon will have) every flipmat that has been released thus far. Overall, "Desert" is quite possibly the most visually impressive flipmat Paizo has produced. The one side, with the sphinx, jackal-headed statues and oasis is beautiful and atmospheric, perfect if you have those elements in your desert adventure. So why only three stars? I think the map is somewhat limited in its utility. If you are hoping for a flipmat that primarily provides a generic "endless sand, dune and scrub" backdrop, then this mat doesn't deliver. Both sides of the map feature an oasis (and, of course, not all desert adventures will lead to a sphinx). I would have preferred something more generic (on which I could have drawn an oasis, if necessary). YMMV...

I have the flip-mats for : Dungeon, Tavern, Cathedral, Keep, Woodlands, and Mountain Pass. They certainly keep the game moving because you don't have to stop to draw on a blank mat. While granted they don't always represent what is described in the encounter they are helpful anyway. Thank you Paizo for doing something so useful that continues the fun without stopping it.

Wow, what was that desert map before the final draft??? It really looked good, but this new one appears more Egytian like...not at all what I was drooling over. Riddle of the Pharoahs and yadda yadda. I was looking forward to something like the place image. It really looked like a desert I see here in Nevada...and I really dug it. Any chance that other desert for a place image can be bought???
Cheers,
Zuxius

I would love to see an Arctic (Snow,Ice) map, A swampland map and a Lava/hades type map. I have the mountain pass(which I love) which does have snow but a more snow ice one would excellent as well. Also a plain flip with green on one side and white(snow) or Green speckled blue(marsh) on the other. Just some Ideas. I've been a DM for a long time and I get a lot of requests for these scenarios.
I use the desert & mountain pass maps all the time.
Great stuff, keep it coming.
