The first expansion in Paizo's GameMastery™ Item Cards line, Hero's Hoard contains 110 playing-card–sized cards to help GMs track important treasures. Each card features a beautiful full-color illustration of an item (weapon, armor, wondrous item, etc.) on one side, with a text description and room for notes on the opposite side. A GM can hand these out when their PCs get treasure and watch as players learn to love managing their booty. A code on each card helps GMs track which card corresponds to which treasure.

Useable by experienced GMs and novices alike, this product fits perfectly into any GameMaster’s arsenal.

    Hero's Hoard booster packs contain:
  • 1 armor (cards 01–15)
  • 2 weapons (16–39)
  • 2 potions (40–57)
  • 1 scroll (63–72)
  • 1 wand (79–88)
  • 2 wondrous items (89–110)
  • 1 ring (58–62) or 1 rod or staff (73–78)
  • 1 foil card, which may be any card from the set.

Display boxes contain 12 booster packs.

Excellent with foils!

Brilliant stuff in terms of basic gear and treasure, loved to open every booster in the pack. I bought two displays and unforunately had 3 identical boosters (including same foil) but still very nice! Recommended while they last :-)

Good Job

I just bought 2 display boxes of these and 2 display boxes of Relics of War. I bought these mainly for the consumables (Potions, Scrolls, and Wands). The artwork is great. Not quite so barbaric as in the decks specific to the APs. Great randomization, the only card I did not get 1 of was #11. 4 stars.

I like them a lot, but...

as many have expressed, the semi-random nature of the packs and the need for constant re-stocking makes it difficult to keep the items you need on hand. Trove Tokens is an alternative - you purchase it just once and you have unlimited items at your disposal.

This is a great concept

I was skeptical at first but I picked some of these at Paizocon and they are a lot of fun. The players really enjoy the interplay with the cards and being able to 'handle' their treasure.

That said... The campaign specific ones make sense because you are going to use almost all of them. These random decks you wind up using only 1/4 of the cards so it's tough to see it as a good value for the money.

Choice of Word

When this item was announced I and my group were none to happy about the random concept that was applied to the second and third set. Though as time progressed and I got free packs I began to look at them differently.

Now looking at them from a long term stand point I have grown to enjoy them greatly. The "random" quality of the sets does not always feel really random (two identical boosters card for card) but it gives me multiples of the high consumables that my group uses. This way all the cure light wound potions look the same. Or a group of military NPCs all carry equipment that looks the same. And since there is no; common, uncommon, rare, and ultra rare I have no problem buying them because I don't feel pushed into trying to complete a set that is nigh impossible to do by just buying the packages.

All being weighed and measured the product was a wonderful addition to the item cards but because of being called "random" it burned many customers who have been burned by such products in the past.

Nice Idea, Lacks good use

I recently ordered a package from Paizo, and received one of these booster packs free. I enjoyed the gift.

After spending some time reviewing what these cards where and talking to my fellow players, we agreed that in fact it would add to much work to be used as treasure, and to much to store all these cards with their character sheet. a itme takes up 1 line of text on a character sheet. As opposed to a card.

We considered the idea of using it to determine random treasure, but then realized that we would need enough cards(duplicates) to match the possibilities in the DMG.

Like i said, i like the idea, i just cannot find it useful.

Nice but random

The artwork is top-notch, the design excellent and the descriptions quite creative, so the only part of this card set that I don't like is the randomness and duplicates. But it is fun to open a new booster pack to see what you get.

Is there a factory perfect set in the works?

I've been buying a pack here and a pack there for several months now. I now have need to purchase sleeves to hold and display what I have and keep track of what I do and I don't have out of the set. I detail the cards and what they before I show them to the players so having the option of a factory set, no matter how expensive would be appreciated.

I preferred the complete deck...

This system of random cards in booster packs is less satisfying. I love the original item deck, wish this was like that one.

Great but could be better

The prduct is great, but. I really think it would be a good idea to have several sets that were even more specific. I loved the original box, but I hate random. I have to agree with the people who wrote about having a box of weapons...3-4 of each weapon in the PHB each a different picture..then an armor one done the same way and then one of the wonderous items. I know one that wouldn't sell too well though..scrolls and potions.. I have about a hundred of each already...but only one great sword. It is not worth it to keep buying random pacts in hopes of another great sword and get more potions and scrolls. I really do love the idea though and the cards are good quality.
