The Gamers: Dorkness Rising DVD
Paizo Publishing, LLC
The Gamers: Dorkness Rising follows Lodge, Dungeon Master and budding writer, who wants his gaming group to finish their adventure. Unfortunately, they’re more interested in seducing barmaids, mooning their enemies, and setting random villagers on fire. Desperate to rein in his players, Lodge injects two newbies into the fray: a non-player character controlled by Lodge, whom the power gamers immediately distrust, and the rarest gamer of all—a girl. Can the group overcome their bickering to save the kingdom, or will the evil necromancer Mort Kemnon triumph unopposed? A parody of fantasy films and the adventure gaming community, The Gamers: Dorkness Rising is a hilarious romp through the world of sword and sorcery—in this case, a world of exploding peasants, giant house cats, and undead roast turkeys. The trailer can be found at www.the-gamers.com.
Shot in high definition, The Gamers: Dorkness Rising is the most ambitious feature film that Dead Gentlemen Productions has produced to date. It was test screened in 2006 at the Gen Con game fair to standing ovations and standing room only. Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis, creators of the Dragonlance novels & New York Times Bestselling authors, called it "a critical hit! ...Original and funny—a real treat for fans of both fantasy and gaming.”

This movie is great. My buddy and I just finished watching it and laughing our butts off. This is the way a D&D movie should really be.
I can't wait for the third movie in the series. At least I hope there is a 3rd movie in the series.
PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This film is beautifully put together. Jokes, and ideas that anyone who has ever role played in the traditional would get, and probably do themselves, litter the landscape of this wonder dancing on its side story. The movie also shows how chemistry between each of the individual players and game master can work. It also shows what happens when the GM decides to guide rail the entire adventure. Its a worthwhile addition to anyone's collection!!!
I liked The Gamers, and knew I'd like Dorkness Rising, but I didn't realize how much better DR would be than the first. This is just a hilarious movie. Sure, there are plenty of "in" jokes, but I'm suspecting that it's not only going to appeal to gamers. I'm hoping my wife will enjoy it too. :-)
Just finished watching this with my wife after snagging a copy at GenCon. Dead Gentlemen have outdone themselves. I haven't laughed this much watching a movie in a long time. The first Gamers was very funny, but the stronger characters and more developed story make this a winning and superior film. Definitely put this on your Must Buy list.
Just picked up a copy at GenCon this year. After seeing the previews at other events, I just had to have it. Well, my husband and I watched it last night. I was laughing so hard that he had to stop the movie so that I wouldn't miss anything. Seriously, this is a hysterical movie and a must have for anyone, gamers or not.
...two years ago at GenCon. I'm going this year to buy it on DVD.
If you liked the first one, then you will love this.
I have pre ordered this...but have seen it at Gen Con last year and don't need it in my hand to write that this is a must buy for any gamer. I can't wait to get this in my hands and get together my group of players that have not seen it and have a viewing. It will go like this...show The Gamers (first one) and say "OK, I showed you that (as I wipe the tears of laughter from my eyes) to show you this. Then show Dorkness...after rewinding several parts and pausing to catch our breath the night will sadly end and the guys will leave with hurt bellys and tear streaked faces. Then our gaming sessions will never be the same again (quotes, comments and more laughter)..I can't wait. This is a must have ....one of the funniest geek movies EVER.

I'm excited, as I will be at GenCon and can pick up my copy... but... Gencon runs the 14-17.. and the announcement says you will have it there on the 18th?

Sigh. That'll teach me not to double-check dates in a press release. It'll be the 14th.

Cool. I'd hate to have to circle the center until your booth opened on Monday, which is the kind of thing I might do to get this movie.

I was just wondering, if there is an answer to this yet, will the release be region free? Or something to that effect, seeing as I'm stuck far away in the "second region".
In any case, looking forwards to finally seeing it!
