I love the concepts in this book. It will seem a little like the novel Redwall, but that's what makes it fun. The animal races are very well balanced and the Deed system really give you a chance to make your character heroic and overcome the shortcomings of being an animal. They have you complete certain tasks/scenarios that let you advance to the next tier of Deed.
For instance, the Larger Than Life Deed (for characters that never grove above small), lets you, if you defeat a creature your size or larger in single combat, never apply a negative strength mod to damage. This Deed goes all the way to a 5th tier called Leaping Terror, which to get you need to have been involved in a fight with a huge or larger creature or single-handedly defeat 20 creatures, you now have a 5' space and 10' reach and threaten all squares in the area of your control. I think thats cool envisioning a high level mouse barbarian tearing all these big creatures up.
There is also the animal wizard with human companions to create a unique concept
