Pathfinder Lugizar Trantos recently returned from the Mwangi Expanse with haunted eyes and a pack full of strange idols. Absalom's famed Blakros Museum purchased his pieces and Lugizar vanished. The strange monkey idols he pulled from the misty jungles of Mwangi carry with them a fell curse, and now their power has laid claim to the museum. Can the Pathfinder Society uncover the source of the curse in time, or will the Blackros Museum be forever lost to the mists of Mwangi?

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar Climax a bit flat
Reviewer: Elora

This is a beautifully designed scenario with some memorable encounters. In particular, I applaud the excellent incorporation of faction missions to drive exploration of the museum. Unfortunately, the climax has the potential to become frustrating and lose its urgency if the players take care of the obvious threat first. Regardless, it is well worth playing!

This was an awesome adventure. It included all of the elements of a fun adventure - mystery, tough fights, roleplay, and a climatic finish. The last act of the adventure freaked out the players and we almost had a TPK. They pulled it out at the last second with half of the party in negative HP. A good time!

Reviewer: Masika

This was an interesting adventure that was set solely in the one building. I completed it tier 1-2 and felt that it was evenly balanced and not just combat orientated. In fact, non-combat characters made this scenario a breeze and without them it would be most difficult to complete.

I love the Mwangi expanse, but this adventure is actually set in Absalom. However, it does give a bit of background on the Gorilla King of Usaro.

Its a series of 5 imaginative "set piece" combat encounters in a museum, but it would be easy enough to expand it by adding a few more empty but spooky rooms, and/or a few more haunted exhibits.

The last encounter is EL 5 (Tier 1-2), which (even allowing for the imprecise nature of the CR system) seems a bit challenging for what could be a first level party - especially if they've just fought their way through 4 previous encounters.

I will be running this as a "normal" adventure rather than a Pathfinder Society game, so I'll have to think what the consequences would be if the party decides to rest part way through.

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar A really solid example of what an organized play scenario should be.
Reviewer: KnightErrantJR

There is one particularly tricky potential situation for a GM to deal with on the fly right at the beginning of the adventure, but if a GM thinks about how to potentially handle this curve (if it happens), the rest of the scenario is a fun adventure that is pretty well paced to run as a PFS event.

Reviewer: Deussu

A mad house with all kinds of things going wrong and all that. A tad uninspiring, nothing much to cling to. Requires a lot from the DM to make it truly interesting. Adventure location is bland.

Combat encounters are alright, and there's a really good base for roleplaying. Maybe watching that new museum movie thing before the scenario helps.

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar Dungeon Delve
Reviewer: Doug Miles

This is a very fast playing scenario with an otherworldly atmosphere. I had mistakenly believed that it would be set in the Mwangi Expanse based on the title. Rather it brings the Mwangi Expanse to the Pathfinders. Beyond the atmosphere that is established in the introduction the scenario holds little flavor of Golarion, the world Pathfinder is set in. Instead it gives the players a dungeon delve experience with some curious scenery. The plot is straightforward and role-play takes a back seat to set piece encounters. This may sound like a poor review, but I recognize that sometimes a scenario is needed where you set aside the role-playing and just kick the crap out of stuff. This is the scenario.

EDIT-I'm revising my review to four stars. I've run this scenario two more times since I first wrote the review. The players loved it, mostly because this time everyone rolled bad saves and delighted in their misbehavior. You will understand when you play it...

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar So much more than a society scenario
Reviewer: Endzeitgeist

First, let me state that I was not that impressed with the scenarios 1-4, though I liked Silent Tide.
This one, however, is simply a blast. It could easily be adapted to CoC, Masque of the red Death or similar settings, as it succeeds in threading the thin line between fantasy and pulp horror.
Plus: Nick Logue delivers a great atmosphere.

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar King Kong & Cthulhu inspired romp
Reviewer: Hank McCoy

I can't recommend this module enough. I loved running it and my players loved playing it. Even though it is a horror-themed module, I think it will appeal to most players.

There are definitely some Cthulhu inspired moments that drive the simple, but rich plot. The story is rather linear, however all the Easter eggs that can be found along the way help to flesh it out and give it a lot of character. What this module has going for it is mood & theme, and it has those in abundance.

There is something for every class to do here, with additional "shine" moments for a bard and wizard. Careful, thoughtful players will be rewarded for their exploration and clue gathering. The combats present a variety of challenges beyond straight forward hack-n-slash.

The faction missions require some thought & investigation and aren't just "gimme" points for finding scavenger hunt items. These missions build off the primary goal by introducing scenes & NPCs that reveal more of the plot or deepen the connection the player has to the story.

Can you tell I liked the module? It's awesome. I had read some negative things about the author in the forums regarding the gore/violence level in his games, but I don't feel that was the case here. Even if you are a squeamish DM or player, what horror-elements are in the module can be easily toned down or, if you like that sort of thing like I do, can easily be increased.

My only regret is that there aren't more modules like this.

Reviewer: Wintergreen

The title here sums up the scenario elements. Great fun to run - would be an excellent Halloween game. It is a nicely self-contained scenario with a clear sense of urgency and an exciting conclusion. A tough and demanding adventure with plenty of flavour. Thanks Nic.

So, is planning a game day to play this on October 4th a good idea or a bad idea? That is, how reliable is the release date for this?

Sigh. It may take a couple of minutes for all of the store applications to see it... I'll see if I can't kick it.
