The following errata has been made available for the Core Rulebook (this errata has already been incorporated in the Fifth Printing) Last updated 11/22/2011:
As Wizards of the Coast goes in pursuit of the World of Warcraft and Magic the Gathering crowd, Paizo Publishing continues the proud tradition of third edition, in fact, it could be called D&D Edition 3.75. Never has one volume contained so much, so well organized, and with so many really neat additions. Check out my full review Pathfinder Core Rule Book
Had this Hardback for sometime, what can i say....im hooked, this is what 3.5 should have been essentially, keep up the good work(so i can buy more stuff for my collection)
I've owned the hard copy of the Core Rulebook for quite some time now, since the first printing, before any of the errata were released. Shortly after, I purchased the PDF version - and I must say that Paizo deserves every single one of the five stars I've given, simply for customer support.
By allowing redownloads of the Core Rulebook each time it is errata'd, it expedites a lot of flipping between documents. Kudos to you, and thank you very much for streamlining the whole process! My hat is off to you!
I am a very satisfied about my purchased copy of this... Pathfinder has become my D&D replacement, as well as the replacement for it for my entire RP-family (not-related of course)...
It has solved all the issues we had in our many 3.5 sessions, and the fixes and scaling they have given for the various core classes has revived our love for the game...
First of all, I've been a fan of 3.x D&D for a long time, since I was a kid. I've always loved this system, and I was really late jumping on the Pathfinder 'bandwagon'. But let me tell you that I'm glad I did. Pathfinder has brilliant re-envisions of the original rules, and it feels like a natural progression from 3.5. All of the rule changes I've encountered have been positive ones, and the game runs a lot smoother than my 3.5 games.
On to this book itself, it is absolutely beautiful. The style of the book is amazing. It has that awesome, old-fashioned feel. The artwork... divine! I can't remember ever being this happy with the artwork and style of a D&D book, ever. And of course, while a lot of the writing is a reprint of the 3.5 SRD, it is well written and organized compared to a lot of other printed books that I've used.
Defiantly worth 5 stars to me, and I would highly recommend that any fan of 3.x buys this product!
I played many years of first and second edition D&D, but thought I had hung up my dice bag shortly before 3.0 was released. I played some 3.0/3.5 but never fully bought into the system.
I started to hear about a new system called Pathfinder at Gencon in 2008. It took me another year to actually check it out but I had heard so many positive things that I knew I would be getting a release copy at Gencon 09. What Paizo has produced has got me hooked on gaming once again. I feel that they have done a remarkable job mixing the best of classic fantasy roleplay with an outstanding revision of the 3.5 rules. Best of all I'm rolling the dice, involved in campaigns, and working on my own. I dare say I haven't had this much fun since 1989.
Many role playing games that are produced by the larger houses these days show obvious signs of existing for the sole purpose of generating revenue. Never was this more obvious than when 3rd edition first hit the shelves with its extremely poor production values, and even worse editing. The revision to our beloved franchise, however, had its merits.
And it is those merits that the designers of Pathfinder seize upon, and seek to improve. Refining broken rules but maintaining the heart of what made 3.5 the game it was. The love of that game pours through on every page of this book, and in the absolute attention to detail that has been paid to the product.
That is not to say that the product is without flaws, but this is a game that has been made out of love of the game, not love of cash.
I feel that this may be the best role playing system I have ever played. If you liked D&D 3.5, then this is the system for you. It is everything that was 3.5 but better.
I love the book, the layout and the system itself! Bravo...Paizo. I picked up this book at borders and well its a great quality book -- my only qualm is I noticed a small crack in the art at the top of the spine (no big deal and I should have examined it when I was in the store, more closely.) Again great work and thank you for bringing this into the world.
