The following errata has been made available for the Core Rulebook (this errata has already been incorporated in the Fifth Printing) Last updated 11/22/2011:
Excellent work! I almost gave up on role-playing a couple of years ago with anything d20. The characters and stories were laborious and I felt like the NPCs were boring. Paizo was introduced to me by a friend and I am very thankful. The material has been consistently good, but this Core book takes the cake!! This book is the climax of the creative worth or Paizo. Paizo is the Chik-fil-e of role-play...they didn't create the RPG, just the RPG sandwich of greatness that we all like to sink our teeth into. Thanks, Paizo, for doing it again! Keep up the great work!
Best thing since....wait there isn't anything else!
When I heard Paizo was revising 3.5 all I could think was "I know they'll do this right." and they didn't disappoint. I congratulate all of you on a fine product and keeping my tons of 3.5 books usable.
This is a great product, it really got me interested in playing RPG's again. I love the revamp to the skills and classes. And the new feats are great, Catch Off Guard has huge ground for hilarity value alone in a campaign.
Ever got worked over how certain things work in 3.5? This book is the answer to your prayers! It covers everything that you need to know and some more! Highly recommended!
I'm a devoted user of Ptolus, and the .pdf for that book has been the gaming benchmark imo - great bookmarks are so important.
THIS pdf actually goes one better, with thorough hyperlinks for every gaming term I noticed throughout every entry. Even if you are using the one-chapter-per-file version of the book, it will open the appropriate file if you look up, for example, "sickened" while perusing Paladin mercies.
This is a ridiculously useful pdf if you DM by laptop.
First off this book is a monster. Over 500 pages of joy. This book packs in everything you would ever need to run a game. It is printed on beautiful paper, and the ink does not smear. The pictures our amazing. Each one could be a story unto itself. Having played a few games under my belt the changes I like the most our to the classes. Each class got revamped and got little things added.
I Love this book and I love this game.
Plus worst comes to worst it will kill most cockroaches for you.
SPLAT
Well the title says it all, this is an updated, and final release for the Beta rule system, for those familiar with the rules. For those who aren't familiar with the beta rules, this is an updated take on the 3.5 OGL system, and meshes well with other 3.5 OGL games and splat books.
The only thing I disliked, and I am not deducting anything from the rating for this, was the wait. I finally got my copy in Hardcover, but this may be because I am not from the U.S, I couldn't get Paizo to ship it to me for the price I would pay instore :(
5/5 stars, and reccomend this for anyone wanting to revisit 3.5, but want a refreshing take on the rule system.
After buying the Book of Experimental Might and Arcana Unearthed, I fell in love with tweaking the rules to vastly improve my games. It became difficult to go over all the little (and big) tweaks I wanted in my games with new players.
Then this came out. The book was beautiful and well thought out. It brought more fun to players and a better balanced game. I can't wait for the other 2 books to come out.
Needless to say, I switched to Pathfinder and have not had a single regret yet. My players are really into it too. When they say "THRIVES" they really mean it. I don't have to tweak many rules either (beyond a house rule or two)... I am very happy with the system.
Also, the adventure modules are fantastic! Since getting into PFRPG I began a meetup.com group and everyone there that has tried it, loved it.
