GameMastery Module W1: Conquest of Bloodsworn Vale (OGL)
Paizo Publishing, LLC

5x5
Print Edition: $12.99
PDF: $8.99

A wilderness adventure for 6th-level characters.

Fallow and abandoned for years, Bloodsworn Vale has long been a dangerous wood separating two kingdoms. A recent call-to-arms asks adventurers from around the world to establish a trade route through this dark and forboding forest.

Conquest of Bloodsworn Vale is a wilderness adventure written by Jason Bulmahn that pits players against the evil fey tribes of the Vale. Only the valiant and clever can defeat the fey—but will you be clever enough to destroy their master?

GameMastery Modules are 32-page, high-quality, full-color, OGL-compatible adventures for use with the world's most popular fantasy RPG. All GameMastery Modules include four pre-made characters so players can jump right into the action, and full-color maps to enhance play.

I liked the snipet telling about Conquest and so I bought it. I just finished reading it and if all of the W series hold up to this excellent level of writing I may just go broke buying all of them. Next I have to crack open the Kobold King and see if it is as good.

This GameMastery Module has a strong, cohesive storyline with a variety of episodic encounters the PCs must deal with to be successful.

It has great production value (love the cover!) with a challenging "wrap-up" encounter bringing a couple months of PC work to an exciting end.

An experienced set of players will be required to be successful in this adventure due to the many opportunities for distraction and the running timeline.

while I am impressed by the clarity and detail of this I find that the price of 13.99 + shipping is way too high! your competition is well below your prices, and by the way ,how does one actulyy send the company an E-mail ?

I recently purchased most of the gamemastery modules (D1, D2, W1) and the initial pathfinder book. After reading through the modules, W1 stands head and shoulders above the others. The basic concepts of the module, the timeline, the relative freeform nature of the encounters/goals, and the chance to establish a stronghold were outstanding. In some ways it reminded me of an old Wolfgang Bauer modue, the Gryphon's Legacy. Other positive aspects of the module were the cover art and art in general, simple/not overdone traps that really fit the setting, and the the whole rose concept. I'm definately looking forward to the next books in the W series.

If and when I have a group at the correct level, I am going to be more than willing to send them into the wilderness of Bloodsworn Vale. The lasting impact the characters can have on the Vale's development is well-handled.

The fact that when I was accidentally double-billed and sent two copies by accident, Paizo's staff willingly refunded the accidental charge doesn't hurt my opinion, either.

This adventure is very well written. It has a logical and easy understood background, villains with motivations that are fathomable in their context (at least to the DM), and an interesting setting overall. The story itself is not just another dungeon stomp, and has consequences of the players choices integrated beyond the obvious.
It has possibilities beyond the adventure itself and could easily be a basis for a campaign or at least part of a campaign.
The paper itself is glossy yet sturdy, the cover should take some wear. The illustrations and maps are good and helpful.
All in all, I recommend this adventure highly.

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar Classic concept, superior execution
Reviewer: Samuel Weiss

What to do when players want to set up a landholding is an old question that Bloodsworn Vale answers with a solid adventure.
Using classical tropes that never decay into weak cliches, it gives the players room to make important decisions, and provides a way for them to do well enough to wind up the rulers of the Vale.
Add in the high quality production values, and generic enough background that it can be adapted to any setting, and this adventure is a winner on all levels.

This module was amazing! Superb layout and the cartography is some of the best I have seen. I can't wait to see more and more of these areas detailed as "The Pathfinder Chronicles Campaign Setting" continues to expand. Fey that dine on the living??!! Excellent!

It will be available as a PDF on August 15.

Or, if you're in a hurry, you could get a subscription to the GameMastery modules line... subscribers get access to the PDF (for free) as soon as their module ships, and we started shipping W1 to subscribers Thursday. :-)

Only scanned it but so far so good. The sprites and drakes look cool, and the big bad looks fun . . .I will offer some more insight when I finally get a chance to sit and read it

I signed up a couple of days ago as a GameMastery Modules Subscriber but it says in my subscriptions that GameMastery Module D2: Seven Swords of Sin will be the first one send to me? Your post seems to indicate that W1 should be the first one recieved if you sign up now. Am I missing something?

Thank you :-)

Read through it last night. I loved it. Great monsters, great conditions for victory. Awesome. The chance to rule a domain, even better. Now if only somebody would conjure up some good rules for running a domain (hint hint nudge nudge) . I am currently looking at the old Birthright rules. I got the Stronghold and Dynasty book from Mongoose Publishing, Fields of Blood and Empire as well. Guess I could create a patchwork home rules.
