FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar Maps too small to be of much use while playing
Reviewer: cogollo

Hi,
I bought this and the map folio for Curse of the Crimson Throne.

I am happy with the quality of the maps (as usual, Paizo's products are superb in this respect) but disappointed with their size; they are mainly a copy of what is found already in the adventures. I was hoping to use the maps during my games as battlemats with miniatures.

I would have preferred having less maps but printed to a scale that could be used with miniatures, so I don't think I'll buy future maps of the series.

Reading other comments and reviews, I see many other people feel the same way, so I hope it will make economic sense for Paizo to publish the important maps with a miniatures scale.

Useful aid

Pity there is no map of the lumbermill in Magnimar.

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar little better!

Where is the map of "the catacombs of anger. "

maps of the dungeons are too small.

Should be able to download maps of dungeons as a figure that can be used by the owner to manage these battlemaps.

otherwise good quality.

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar Good support material for RotRL
Reviewer: Masika

This product had the potential to be any DMs dream to support a campaign. Though it did deliver what it was described to do I was a little disappointed.

The map quality is excellent though as suggested before the maps are the same size as found in the books which is a shame as most deserve a full page. I have had the 2 larger maps laminanted and they have come up a treat and the players can clearly see the geography when planning and discussion character moves. I would have like to see the detailed map of the local geography (the one that shows Edgar's Woods) in the larger format as this is probably more useful than the other large maps, particularly at the early stages of the campaign.

I would have like to seen that the players handouts be produced and supplied in this pack. I realise it is a map folio but for future adventure path support perhaps just a "folio" will do where handouts are included. Also, instead of sending the maps out in a manilla folder perhaps a simple document wallet as it will make housing and transporting the material alot easier without fears of damaging them.

I recommend this product to DMs running the RotRL campaign. It will make the game more enjoyable for your players and easier for you to manage.

Reviewer: Gorbacz

This product had a lot of potential, which sadly wasn't fully realized. Maybe it has something to do with it being the first Folio. Anyway, the foldout map of Sandpoint is beyond awesome - I believe it was one of the major factors that hooked my players on PF1 - but the others...well, they could be better executed and more player-friendly. Oh well. Better luck next time, Paizo Map Team !

The problem is these are all the maps produced in the adventures. The same size and sometimes several on a page. Make them bigger and they would be much better.

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar About as advertised.
Reviewer: Elendur

The cartography is excellent.
The paper is thin.
The 'poster-sized' maps are a bit small.
A folder with pockets would have been nice.

Overall a good game aid for running Rise of the Runelords.

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar I am rating this two and a half stars.
Reviewer: TheOcho

Pros:
* The print quality is excellent.
* Having maps on loose leaf sheets is very handy.

Cons:
* Each map should be on its own sheet.
* Having player friendly maps would be nice.
* The folder should be a little larger than the map pages. My maps slightly stick out causing the edges to get frayed.
* Larger maps that take up a whole page would be nice.
* Making the maps available as image downloads would be awesome.
* Slightly thicker paper would be nice as well.

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar The posters are great; the loose sheets are okay.
Reviewer: Riley

My quick review:
This is a good product, but not an essential one. The two 4-page fold-out poster maps of Varisia and Sandpoint are great, and will certainly see use in my campaign.

The other maps are all on single sheets, and are reprinted at the same size as they were in the original Pathfinder volumes. Now, it is nice to have these maps separate from the issues of Pathfinder. However, I would've liked this product better if: 1) they were bound as a 32 page, stapled volume, and 2) if the maps were printed at a larger scale than in Pathfinder. Paizo has the best cartography in the business, and it is a shame to see their creations printed on a half- or quarter-page. Each major location deserved a full sheet.

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar Perfect for my use!
Reviewer: Tars Tarkas

The printing is high quality, and although the paper is thin, it works for this product.

I put my (non-poster) maps in an inexpensive presentation book with plastic sleeves, and it's perfect for having the maps available without having to flip back and forth through Pathfinder. While I could have printed my own copies from the (free) PDFs of Pathfinder that I get for being a Pathfinder subscriber, this is simply easier and cooler. (And, of course, I now have a PDF of this item from being a Pathfinder Chronicles subscriber, so I can print extra copies anytime I need!)

I can't imagine its a bad thing for someone official to answer this question. If so, spoiler-ify it.
What maps are in the folio?

I agree with prev posts-is this just repackaged maps from the first 6 adventures? if so, what is the point when i could just print them off my pdfs?

Printing them probably costs more in ink than just buying the folio, for starters...

Not if you have a colour laser printer. I'm still a little unclear about this product too. Your reply suggests that this folio is just reprinted maps from the RotRL adventure path. Is there anything different about them (i.e. larger format, etc.) that would entice someone who can cheaply print the pdf maps to buy this?
