Battlemaps Lairs: Mummy's Tomb PDF
0one Games
The Mummy's tomb is a three-room lair. A small corridor connects a laboratory for mummification, a canopic jar storage room and the tomb.
Here are some hints to plug this small lair into your dungeon, and some adventure ideas.
- The tomb is part of a larger tomb complex. A secret door covered by strange hieroglyphs leads to this forgotten area. The real danger here is the half-finished mummy in the laboratory. It could be a variant type of undead that retains some glimpse of the living world, since its mummification is not complete. The half-mummy could attack the PCs or—your choice—ask them to complete the mummification process.
- The PCs are hunting for the tomb in order to slay the mummy lord that is said dwells there. Eventually, they reach the tomb and bypass some traps to reach the room of the sarcophagus. The battle begins, but they are not able to destroy the monster—it seems invulnerable. In order to kill the mummy, the PCs must destroy its organs located in the canopic jars.
Welcome to Battlemaps Lairs. These products are part of the acclaimed Master Accessories line. Each product features a small monster's lair—usually three or four rooms—that can easily be added to your ongoing campaign.
For each lair, you get a wonderful overview map and three or four battlemaps, suitable for miniatures games, detailing each room of the lair. The battlemaps are superb 3D renderings at the stunning resolution of 150 dpi, allowing you to obtain an amazing print quality. You get also a grayscale-optimized version of each map.
In addition, Battlemaps Lairs offers you a degree of customization. At the bottom of each color map you will find a checkbox (that will not be printed) that allows you to make the room "empty". Thus, if you do not need that sarcophagus in the mummy's tomb (perhaps because it doesn't fit in your story) you can easily remove it.

Presented to the high standard we have come to expect from 0one Games's maps, this product provides details of a small "Mummy's Tomb" - a suite of three chambers suitable for either using as the focal point of an adventure or for dropping in to an existing complex, whatever suits your plotline.
The three rooms consist of the Tomb itself, a laboratory/workshop area and a storage room. Each chamber can be printed out by itself, or as a group - in colour or greyscale depending on your needs. As an added feature, there's a checkbox which allows you to choose to show the rooms empty or with the contents supplied. It's an 'all or nothing' choice, but does provide scope for having characters find that others have been there before them, or that the original occupant packed up and left before they got here. After all, mummies do not always stay where their creators intended!
The laboratory area looks like it was used for mummy preparation, while the store room appears to contain some canopic jars (used to contain the internal organs - heart, liver, etc. - of the mummy). The tomb itself is quite bare, with the sarcophagus in the centre.
Overall, it is nicely put together, but naturally the adventure that leads the characters here, the surrounding area and whoever or whatever is encountered here are all up to you. For those of us who can write but not draw it's a godsend... and there are even a couple of ideas provided in the introduction to get you thinking. Next time you intend for your characters to visit a mummy's tomb, they can do it in style.
