The Old Observatory rises on the southeast part of the Ruined Town, topping the hill called "The Hill of the Black People."

It is told that a very old dwarf built the observatory; locals nicknamed him "the black dwarf" due to his dark complexion. He was a scholar who spent most of his time watching the stars, and so he built a brass device, made of gears and lenses, which he placed on top of the tower.

One day a strange woman went to the tower; the night of her arrival, sinister lights were sighted in the observatory. The woman never left the town, and each new moon, people began to disappear from the town.

Some of these unlucky men and women were found months later, wandering at the base of the hill, turned into blathering idiots with dark complexions and deep scars all over their faces...

This product expands on a location found in 0one's Blueprints: The Ruined Town.

Can be assembled to form a giant 16x21-inch map!

    Features:
  • "Rule the Dungeon" feature
  • Enhanced customization (doors and furniture are separate, for example)
  • Alternative hexagonal grid available
  • "North" mark available and orientable
  • Master control panel allows you to control all the maps at once
  • Buttons for printing only blue maps or black and white maps
  • NOTE: You must use Adobe Acrobat 6+ in order to use all the features of this product

The Blueprints product line offers you old-fashioned blueprint-style maps for your adventures and campaigns. Each map comes in a blueprint version and a standard black-and-white version. The maps are all vector-based for maximum print resolution. Despite their old-fashioned appearance, each map offers some degree of customization, using PDF technology at its best. A button (which will not be printed) on each map allows you to turn the grid on and off, eliminate the room numbers, fill in walls, hide doors and furniture, and many other options, depending on the map. Each 0one's Blueprints product features a classic fantasy adventure location: a dungeon, a keep, a temple complex, a thieves' guild and so on. You can use these maps as reference to build your own adventures or simply have them at hand in case your players go in an unexpected direction during the campaign.

While offering you the best quality, these products are really inexpensive.

FullStarFullStarFullStarFullStarFullStar An RPG Resource Review
Reviewer: Megan Robertson

Presented with 0one's customary technical competence, this is a fascinating structure to have around. A brief background story, concerning a star-gazing dwarf, a mysterious lady and people going mad, is provided should you wish to use it, or you can come up with one of your own. For that matter, it could make a good base for anyone undertaking a scientific or quasi-scientific study of the heavens even if you do not require any mysteries below.

The maps show the ground floor, first and second floors, rooftop and cellars. If you want, as the back story suggests, a dungeon underneath, you'll have to source it elsewhere or design your own.

The ground floor provides the surrounding yard as well as an impressive entrance hall, a stables and a storeroom. The first floor has a large structure - maybe a orrery or astrolabe - and space for living and working, while the second floor and the roof appear to have fallen into a state of disrepair. The floor doesn't look in the slightest bit safe and the roof leaks! There's something that's probably a telescope up there if you can get there safely, though. The cellar contains some mysterious pools and a ritual circle hidden behind a curtain...

Technically, there is considerable scope for customisation, with the ability to display a compass rose, furniture, doors and a floor grid. You can also choose whether or not to have walls filled in or outline, and can select to print all the blue (or all the black and white) pages without having to select each one in turn!

It's an interesting curiousity of a building - every world should have one!
