Note: These boosters are sold "blind", so there's no way to request a specific pack. We will do our best to supply different packs for those buying multiple and anyone buying a full case (8 booster packs) will receive one of each pack.

The Monster Manual: Dangerous Delves expansion for the Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game features pre-painted plastic miniatures of iconic monsters from the Monster Manual and other core rulebooks. This 40-figure set includes monsters of various levels and roles, and each booster pack allows a Dungeon Master to run a ready-to-play encounter right out of the box!

    Each booster pack contains:
  • 1 visible, non-random miniature—pre-painted, fully assembled, durable plastic.
  • 4 hidden random miniatures—pre-painted, fully assembled, durable plastic.

Like the new system

Finding these in one of my LGS, I found I really like the new way these are being marketed. I love being able to choose the large figs I want, helping me avoid unnecessary dupes. I also love that these are basic RPG minis we all need from the Monster Manual and not obscurities created for the sake of the now defunct minis game.

Most of the sculpts are great. Love the hippogriff, the chimera, the harpy, etc. I also love the brighter, wider color palette, which I feel is important at such a small scale.

On the downside:
A few of the sculpts were weak (Gnoll Huntmaster, what the hell is that in your right hand?).
I'm paying substantially more per mini (although to be fair, I'm getting something closer to what I wanted).

I've gotta admit it's gettin better...

I just picked up a case of them from my FLGS and I'm actually pretty impressed. The paint jobs are a *LOT* better than the last two releases and better than the PC minis IMO.

From the case, I got one of each of the visible figs, one of each common (doubles of some) and uncommon and 8 rares. I even got most of the rares I actually wanted (gold dragon, beholder, chain devil, and clay golem being top of my list, didn't get the scorpion or chimera but I'll just buy singles).

There were a few duds in the commons (snakes on a plane are poorly sculpted, the grimlock needs a brown wash and the goblin looks like an alien), but the general quality of the minis has been brough back up to pre-4th edition quality IMO.

I'd give it 3.5 stars: good but significant room for improvement.
