Paizo Announces First Stonehenge: An Anthology Board Game™ Expansion

Stonehenge Library launched this week.

Wed, Jun 20, 2007, 03:56 PM

Paizo Publishing, a leading publisher of fantasy RPG accessories and quality board games, announced today a Stonehenge: An Anthology Board Game expansion set for release this fall. Stonehenge: Nocturne™ presents three new games by four popular game designers and also adds new player pieces for the sixth and seventh players. All previously published Stonehenge games can use the new pieces.

Published under the Titanic Games™ imprint, Stonehenge: Nocturne features "The Stargate", a deduction game by Serge Laget & Bruno Cathala (co-creators of Shadows Over Camelot), "Sun & Moon", a building game by Klaus-Jürgen Wrede (creator of Carcassonne), and "Stonehenge Hippie Festival", a party game by Andrew Looney (creator of Fluxx). Stonehenge: Nocturne will retail for $19.99.

Paizo also launched the highly anticipated Stonehenge Library late last week.

"Maybe the best thing about our game is the Stonehenge Library," says Mike Selinker, Titanic Games Brand Manager and co-creator of Stonehenge. "Anyone with a new Stonehenge game idea now has the ability to type their rules into a special form that then creates a downloadable PDF for everyone to enjoy. This gives fans the opportunity to see their games alongside games by Richard Garfield or Bruno Faidutti."

The Stonehenge Library can be found online at paizo.com/stonehengelibrary. "Sacrifice Roulette", an official Stonehenge gambling game by Jason Bulmahn (Managing Editor, Dragon magazine), is the first Library game available for free download. As fans submit more games, Paizo hopes to build a community of Stonehenge game designers who critique and improve each other's work. Future games by established game designers are planned for the Library and Paizo plans to make them available for a small fee. User submitted games are always free downloads. Check the web address above for guidelines and additional details.

Stonehenge: An Anthology Board Game is available worldwide anywhere board games are sold.

Titanic Games Releases Stonehenge Puzzle #3

Thu, Dec 21, 2006, 04:00 PM

Paizo Publishing and Titanic Games announced today that the third Stonehenge: An Anthology Board Game™ puzzle was live and online. You can view it at titanic-games.com/solstice.

"I would encourage everyone to work together on this one," suggests Joshua Frost, the Marketing Director for Paizo Publishing and Titanic Games. "It turns out that when you ask Mike Selinker for the hardest puzzle he can create, he not only delivers—he delivers with an evil malice."

"Just so you know," stated Mike Selinker, Stonehenge co-designer and Brand Manager for Titanic Games, "I wasn't the one who said, 'We need something really, really, hard this time.' I like easy puzzles. Honest."

As was the case with the previous Equinox and Samhain puzzles, solving this one will get you a new Design Diary written by Mike Selinker that discusses board design and the iterations the Stonehenge board went through. You'll also be treated to a sneak peak at the final board. No one outside the Titanic Games offices has seen the board yet—intrepid puzzle solvers will be the first!

Stonehenge is the world's first Anthology Board Game. Titanic Games brought together five talented game designers and gave each of them the same board and pieces. Five unique designers resulted in five unique games: an Arthurian showdown by Richard Borg, a Stonehenge fire sale by James Ernest, a druidic election by Bruno Faidutti, a magical convocation by Richard Garfield, and an alien chariot race by Mike Selinker.

Stonehenge: An Anthology Board Game releases in May 2007. Visit Titanic Games online at titanic-games.com and keep an eye on the Titanic Games messageboards for clues and hints about the latest puzzle.

Titanic Games Takes to the Water

New Board and Card Game Company to Launch in 2006!

Tue, Aug 16, 2005, 09:00 AM

Industry veterans James Ernest, Mike Selinker, Lisa Stevens, and Bob Watts announced today the formation of Titanic Games, a company focusing on the creation of world-class board and card games. The business side of Titanic will be handled by Watts (formerly headed Games Workshop US, served as Vice President of Wizards of the Coast, founded Sabertooth Games, and has 30 years of experience in the miniatures game industry) and Stevens (former Vice President of White Wolf and Wizards of the Coast, now CEO of Paizo Publishing). The R&D side will be helmed by Ernest, the president of Cheapass Games, and Selinker, formerly the lead developer of Avalon Hill. Ernest and Selinker are partners in Lone Shark Games, for whom they've recently designed Pirates of the Spanish Main for Wiz Kids and Gloria Mundi for Rio Grande.

"The four of us have worked with each other for years in the various companies we have been a part of, so it seemed like a natural thing to get together to make some great board and card games," Stevens said.

"It started with Lisa and I talking to James about doing some high-end releases of some of James' best games from Cheapass and just grew from there. Mike and James had some amazingly cool games sitting in the wings, so we decided to go for the whole enchilada and partner with them," remembers Watts.

The first releases from the new company will hit the streets in mid-2006 with the release of three games. "As we made games to sell through our design studio Lone Shark, we made some that were so big in scope that some other companies were scared away from making them. Bob and Lisa said they weren't scared at all, and asked if they could have the games—and us," Selinker opined.

A high-end version of Cheapass Games' flagship title, Kill Doctor Lucky, is in the works for Titanic's first year. Kill Doctor Lucky is Cheapass' bestselling board game, in which players race to see who can kill a hapless old man in his own house. The deluxe edition will contain three-dimensional elements and plenty of new ways to kill the old man. In sharp contrast to the original, Titanic's version will even include all the pieces!

Dust and Sin is a board game where players are vying with each other to be the #1 real estate mogul in a fledgling Las Vegas by owning the biggest and busiest casinos along the Strip. Build new casinos, steal them from other players, or take them over from the inside. The ever-changing Vegas landscape isn't finished until the last vacant lot has been turned into a neon-studded casino! Designed by James Ernest and Mike Selinker, Dust and Sin features unique 3-dimensional casino models that make the Las Vegas skyline truly different each time you play!
