Swords Into Plowshares was a compilation project initiated by Sean K Reynolds to be a charity fundraiser for the Afghan Girls Fund, a charity created by the National Geographic Society to provide educational opportunities and medical assistance for the women and girls of Afghanistan. The project was initiated after the Society was able to track down Sharbat Gula, the Afghan refugee with the striking eyes photographed in 1985.

Swords Into Plowshares features 32 pages of magic weapons (each at approximately 1/2 page in length) for the d20 system, each with a description and background information. Authored, edited, and illustrated by concerned people in the RPG industry, Swords Into Plowshares was created entirely on volunteer time. The game material in the book is entirely open game content as defined by the Open Gaming License.

Swords Into Plowshares was originally sold as a $5 PDF file. All proceeds from this book were donated to the Afghan Girls Fund.

By December 2003 sales had trickled off, so Sean made the book available as a free download. If you like this book, consider purchasing Hungry Little Monsters, the 2005 Sean K Reynolds Games charity book, or make a donation to the Afghan Children's Fund (the successor to the Afghan Girls Fund) directly.

We want to thank everyone who volunteered their time for this project. Your efforts are appreciated, and it is good to know that despite all of the conflicts in the world, people can still come together to help others in need.

Wonderful Collection Indeed

I've been using this book for a couple years now, and it is one of the best resources for memorable magic weapons I have ever had the honor to read. I use a few weapons every campaign arc, and I have yet to reuse a single weapon. A great work by SKR.

Amazing

I just finished reading this. IT was fantastastic. The flavour and backgrounds have really sparked my imaginiation. So creative and lots of stuff I never thought of. Good Job Sean. Can't wait to see more.

Nice bit of work here!

I love this PDF. Just read through it and the backgrounds on the weapons is well written and yet generic enough to be used in almost any setting. It was a great read and has sparked my imagination about weapons in my own games. I will be using this.
I think this is written for 3.0 though so some minor conversions may be necessary.
Good on you, SKR and company.
