I bought this guy because I thought he'd be a fun painting project. After trying and failing a bunch to get his axe just right, I put him aside. There he sat for a year.
Last night, after rolling up a half orc monk for Pathfinder, I pulled this guy out of this bin of misfit minis. His axe had been lost to oblivion, but with some empty warhammer zombie hands, he's now the best monk miniature I've ever seen! He's really a lot of fun to paint and looks great. If you have a half orc anything, this guy might be the mini for you!
This big brute of a character looks great. Assembly is a little tricky when lining up the hands. The figure looks splendid, but once again upon closer examination, the arms are disproportionate to the rest of the figure. The right arm is freakishly short to accomodate the pose but I'm just being picky. It is easier to paint the figure and then attach the hands/axe piece to the main body.
Getting this mini together was a little tricky because the axe and the hands holding it are all one piece that must be aligned and glued onto the wrists of the main figure.
The mini is heavy! It's quite large, too. The base fits into a standard 5' square on a battlemat but any adjacent minis with parts that extend even a little bit over their bases might not fit next to this behemoth.
This mini definitely captures the terrifying power of a half-orc barbarian, though, and the detail is incredible!
