Once I experimented with this software a bit, I found this about as easy to use and flexible as the GURPS Character Assistant software - no mean feat in its own right.
Once they get the 1.9 patch linky to work, I'll be a happy man. :)
Naturally, I would want the chaps who worked this puppy up - if possible - to factor in the material in the Unearthed Arcana as selectable options (including, as an example, Gestalt Characters with up to five core class selections) as well as the ability to use the software - or even as an add-on pack - "GM" tools.
So far, I like what it can do already. KUTGW!
EDIT: And of course, if it would be possible to acquire Pathfinder RPG rules datasets - say, at release next August - for this software it would be particularly useful too.
I've not nearly had time to look through all the features yet, but the parts of it I have played around with are fantastic. We just started a Pathfinder campaign using the RPGX tools and it's so useful. It's easy to input everything you want without needing to know code, it's inuitive and well-laid out. The character gen process is in-depth and the marketplace is a godsend. It's made the game a lot more interesting for us as we've been able to spend more time playing and less arguing over rules and looking through tome after tome of items and spells. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the game, and seeing how the other aspects of RPGX come into play.

I know I signed up with them to notify me when this product was nearing completion, but I never got any kind of notification. Of course, this was last year, and they could have easily have lost my contact info, but at the time they sent me an e-mail directly saying that they wanted to notify people that let them know when this was ready to go. Ah well.

I've been using it a bit and have to say I'm liking it so far. It's not completely done, the psionics release is coming in a week or two, followed by epic rules (I believe). Rumor has it there may be a GM component with monsters and campaign/adventure tools, but the developers are keeping it pretty tight-lipped (neither confirming or denying it's development).
My experience is that it is one of the better character generators out there. As a plus the developers seem to listen to their users via their website and add features as requested by users (based on how relevant they are... they might not program in your particular house rules, but stuff from WotC books is usually added to the program if people request it).
It's also got the easiest method to input custom, non-OGL data that I've seen, with no knowledge of scripting or coding required. There are several video tutorials available on their website that show character generation and custom spell entry that you can check it out.
Overall, once it's totally complete, it will probably be the best D&D character program out there.

That's the part that concerns me. It's the thing that chewed up so much dev time in PCGen and I'm unsure of the legality of it.

There used to be a free download of this as a trial. I think it only contained the player stuff and missed a lot of GM stuff like NPC creation and campaign info if I recall correctly. That said I quite liked the tree view approach to organising info.
In the end though I'm a trasitionalist and like my pen and paper.
Might be worth seeing what the web site says if your interested?
